Julia laughed. Cain’s innocence was such a contrast to Blanche’s hate. As they walked away from Cartwright Manor, Julia felt a pang of sadness. This place would never seem magical to her again. She pushed those thoughts from her head and turned her attention to Cain and his new friend. “Cain, would you be able to grow onions? And maybe potatoes?”
Cain’s face lit up. “Of course I could. Julia, I’m glad you went after Kayla. Thank you for looking out for me.”
“Any time, Cain. I’ll always look out for you. You’re family. But try not to get involved with any potential murderers again too soon.”
