by Suzanne Ferrell

Eyes closed, she heard him open the bath gel provided by the hotel, the rich scent of vanilla and cinnamon swirling in the moist air around them. His soapy, slick hands drew up her arms and over her shoulders, kneading her muscles along the way. Then he split their trail, one hand cupping a breast, teasing and rolling the nipple between his thumb and forefinger. He dipped the second down her soft tummy to the folds of her sex, rubbing her clit in the slow, circular motion she’d taught him years ago brought her to the brink so quickly. Her breath hitched as he worked her body like a virtuoso strumming the strings of his beloved violin.

Each tug of a nipple and the stroke of her clit sent her higher and higher until she arched, her body drawing tight, hanging on the precipice and finally shattering into spasms of pleasure as he hurled her over the edge.

Slowly, with gentle touches and his lips once more sliding along the column of her neck, he eased her back into reality.

“I’m sorry,” he said as his hands worked their magic.

  “For what?”

“For not taking your worry about me and my job seriously. Until tonight I had no idea what you go through every time I head out the door to work. When I heard your voice that first call, how scared and yet strong you were, heard that a crazed man had taken you hostage…”

A choking sound cut off his words and he wrapped his arms around her once more, holding her tight, his face buried in the crook of her neck. His body shook and hot tears hit her shoulders.

“Shh, sweetheart,” she crooned to him, her hands resting on the long, hard muscles of his arms. “It’s over now. I survived it and we’re both okay.”

It took a few minutes, but he slowly raised his head, cupping her chin in one hand and turning her head to look into her eyes. “If you hadn’t figured out that code…I wouldn’t have lived. You do know you’re my world, don’t you?”

She reached up to stroke his cheek. “Yes. And you’re mine.”

“When you begged me to leave you, to walk away, and there were mere minutes left on that timer…” Again the words stopped on a choked half-sob from him, his fear like a fist clenching her heart.

“Oh, my love, I know. It was the hardest thing for me to ask…and the hardest thing for you to do. But I’m okay, and I’m here.” She wiggled around until she straddled his hips, staring into the raw pain in his eyes.

“I’m here now,” she said, leaning in to kiss him. “Nothing bad happened to me.” She punctuated the words with more kisses. “I swear it.”

Growling, he cupped her face in both hands and held her still, claiming her mouth with his. Like fire to kindling, need ignited between them. His tongue slid inside to stroke hers, his lips grinding against hers, letting her taste the desperation inside of him.

Suddenly, he pulled back. “Babe, I need to be inside you, to be one with you.” His words echoed the pounding desire deep within her.

  “Yes.”

“Now.” His eyes told her he wouldn’t have time for a condom if she didn’t stop him. They’d be taking the chance of a fourth child.

The idea of something beautiful, made with love, coming from their survival of something so ugly, sat right in her heart.

Not breaking eye contact, she raised up on her knees, letting his straining erection slide to the entrance of her slit. “Yes, now,” she said, pushing down to impale herself on him, joining with him. One.

“Damn, you still fit me like a glove,” he growled as he cupped both her ass cheeks in his hand, holding her still, his length stretching her, filling her, throbbing deep in the core of her.

She clutched at his shoulders, digging her nails into the long cords of his muscles as she started to move, slow at first, forward and back, letting only a small part of him slip out then back inside. Her body clenching around him.

“Don’t ever scare me like that again,” he said, grinding deeper into her.

“I won’t,” she whispered, arching her back so her nipples brushed across the hair on his chest.

“Can’t lose you.” He gripped her tighter to him, pumping in and out in small bursts.

Water sloshed over the sides of the tub.

“You won’t.” She reached up to cup his face in her hands, kissing him with all the desire and need, willing the fear out of him.

He growled into her mouth, one hand sliding into her hair and gripping it as he took control of the kiss, slanting her head and devouring her lips like a starved man. With his other hand, he held her locked to him as the first waves of his orgasm hit him.

She throbbed around him, her body soaring to fulfillment, spasms rippling through her as he shot his seed deep into her womb, claiming her as his once again, reaffirming their life, their love.

Later, after they’d moved to the bed and repeated the act of confirming their love and commitment to each other, Dave lay on his back, Judy snuggled tightly against his side. Her head rested on his shoulder as she lazily ran her fingers through the hair on his chest.

He smiled in the dark. After years of marriage to her, he knew what was coming next. Patiently, he waited for her to tell him what was on her mind.

“You know, I wasn’t completely alone in the OR,” she finally said.

“I know your co-workers were good in an emergency, too.” He stroked her hair back, letting the strands flow over his fingers.

“No, I mean, I kept hearing you in my head.”

“You were wearing your Bluetooth in the operating room,” he couldn’t help teasing.

Lightly, she smacked his chest. “No. That’s not what I’m talking about. I’m trying to tell you that all the years we’ve been married your words about how to talk a criminal or crazed person down off the edge played over in my head. It was like you were coaching me on how to keep Wilkes from shooting everyone else or setting off the bombs.”

A shudder ran through him at the idea of what could’ve happened to her. He pulled her a little closer.

She twisted her head to look up at him. Winter moonlight after the storm shone through the sheer curtains to illuminate her face. “What I’m trying to say is, I see how good you are at what you do, because your words helped me. And I think it let me release some of the fear I have for you. Not all of it, but I think I can handle your job and what it entails better now.”

He gave a short laugh. “That may not be a problem any longer. After my actions tonight, I’ll be lucky to still have one.”

“I’m not worried,” she mumbled, settling back down. “You did help save the senator’s son. That has to count for something.”

He held her close, hearing her breathing slow and steady as she finally drifted off to sleep.

Saving the senator’s son wasn’t something he planned to play for a job or promotion. He had a feeling the senator had more to hide than his son’s drinking problems.

Luke opened the bottle of beer and took a long swig as he sat on his bed and entered his pass code into the secure server site. A year before he’d accepted the reassignment from the Treasury department to Homeland Security—something he was sworn to keep secret from his family.

No new emails popped onto his list. His source for his arms case was late getting him the intel. Not good.

Another swig of beer and he opened another secure URL, typing in the words, Senator Howard Klein.

“Let’s see what you might have stashed in your closets, Senator.”

  Praise for Kidnapped:

  Loved it! Five Stars

“…very entertaining and well written. Jake, Sami and Nicky were great main characters who supported the plot very well.

If you’re looking for a nice and relaxed read I can recommend this one to you.” - Book lover (Athens, Greece)

  Amazing Story! Five Stars

“This story is one of the better books that I have read in awhile. The interaction between Jake and Sami are electrifying without being outwardly mushy. The plot and interactions molded so well. I will be buying other stories from this author. I found the three main characters and their back-stories both heartbreaking and touching. I highly recommend this story! You won’t be disappointed.” - Amazon reader (Pennsylvania)
