We both sagged in the chair, breathing hard. He put his arms around my waist and held me close against his chest. “My god, Isabella. That was…incredible! It just gets better and better with you.”
I could only nod and breathe. After a moment, I tilted my head back and kissed his strong, hard chin. “You are pretty incredible, yourself.”
On our fourth and last night on the ship, Olaf fucked me against the wall of my cabin while holding me up with his massive arms. I’m sure the occupants of the neighboring berth heard us, but I didn’t care. He had incredible staying power, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t daydream of keeping close to such a masterful lover.
Yet I had things to see and do away from the Frigga. I needed to get Sally fixed, and have some clothes made, and see New York City. Eventually I would have to go back to Chicago for the trial of my odious brother-in-law and his treacherous sister, who conspired to have me killed to get my money. And I had thirty-one other men to discover.
Sally stood beside me on the deck as we approached the city. She was unable to talk at this point. I had received Gustav Shoker’s address from Frieda that morning. I had high hopes he could solve the problem.
Olaf stood on the other side of me. His heart was in his eyes. He kept glancing at me, as though he wanted to say something. It wasn’t until we had docked that he did. “Stay with me, Isabella.”
I turned to him and smiled sadly. “I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to. You’re an amazing man, Olaf.”
His eyes searched mine and he frowned. “But you won’t.”
I shook my head. “I’ve made promises to myself that I want to keep. I’ve got Sally to think of, and business in Chicago after that. But…maybe someday. Don’t wait for me, though, Olaf. I want you to always be happy.”
I kissed him on the cheek and Sally and I made our way onto the gondola.
