Headdress and all.
Maybe there was a Pow Wow she hadn’t heard about.
But then it was as if he shimmered and disappeared.
She felt Vincent’s presence next to her as she asked, “Did you see that, baby?”
But he was pulling her to him for a hard embrace, and she forgot to press him for an answer as she hugged him back.
“Love you more than anything,” he muttered against her hair.
She burrowed into him. “Love you like that too,” she murmured.
He loosened his hold but didn’t let go as they both turned their eyes to Navi.
“Vincent, we just have to,” she said softly.
After she’d spoken, she leaned back on his strong arm to look up at him. His dark eyes looked down on her. She knew his answer before he spoke.
“Yeah, baby, we have to.”
Tess knew there was so much love in her gaze when she looked up at him.
Navi was going to be theirs.
Oh my God.
Then Vincent really blew her away. “Heard my forefathers’ chants the whole time. Clear. Totally clear,” he said.
Her eyes widened and she glanced back to where the elder Indian man had been. Just then, an eagle screeched overhead.
“They’re looking out for us, baby,” Vincent said.
“And Navi too,” she said, totally believing it. “So worth it,” she whispered with a smile.
Vincent lifted her up and carefully swung her around.
“So fucking worth it,” he agreed.
And that was how they became new parents to a young warrior who deserved their love and returned their love just as fiercely.
