Just that quickly I forgot all about Damien and smiled as I told Tyler.
“Sure, let’s go!”
Chapter 8
We riding around, having a really good conversation after dinner. I was keeping Tyler laughing. I was laughing too until something started happening down in my stomach. It was slight at first, a light tremble followed by a flip-flop motion. I was immediately mortified!
My stomach was doing the Cha Cha Slide with a side of A Town Stomp! If it wasn’t for Tyler’s music, I know he would’ve heard it. I squeezed my butt cheeks together so tight I was starting to rise up off the car seat. Tyler either didn’t notice that either or he was trying to be nice about it. He just kept right on talking about only he knows what. Even though I nodded my head and kept the conversation going, inside I was dying! I couldn’t stop thinking how far it was to my house.
I caught a cramp in my stomach so bad it felt like a fist balled up inside and was trying to punch its way through. To make matters worse, it seemed like we were catching every single red light. When Tyler finally turned onto my street, I began to panic even more.
Please God if you love me, make Tyler drop me off and keep it moving.
I was about to break out into a sweat and my heart was beating so fast I could hear it. He stopped in front of my house and turned to me with a smile.
“Eva, I had a real good time with you today. I’m glad you came out with me. You’re cool people,” Tyler smiled at me.
I smiled through my inner turmoil. “I’m glad I came too. It was fun. We have to do it again real soon.”
I said all that in one breath while I opened his car door to get out. I had to make a run for it!
“Hey, you just gonna leave me like that?” Tyler said, putting on a puppy dog face.
I turned to him thinking if he didn’t let me get out of the car, he was going to hate that he asked that question.
“You are silly,” I said while fake smiling again. “Call me later okay?”
This time I leaned over and kissed him quickly. I stepped out of the car and speed walked to my door before he had a chance to object again. I think I heard him say ‘Alright, cool.’ but I was too busy fumbling with my keys to unlock the door. I slammed it behind me and dropped everything; keys, pocket book, everything, and ran straight to the bathroom.
The dam broke before I was able to sit all the way down. All I could do, once I could breathe again, was laugh. I cannot believe our date ended that way, but I thanked God that Tyler didn’t come inside. I would’ve been super embarrassed.
I cleaned myself up and went back to pick up my things from the floor. Then I called my momma to ask about my kids. She was saying that they were no problem at all.
“Okay Momma, but you call me if they start to give you any trouble, okay?”
“They’ll be fine, Eva. But I will,” she said.
“Alright talk to you later Momma. I love you,”
“And I love you honey.”
It’s times like these that I often wonder what I’d do without my mother. Since I had all this free time on my hands, I was wondering what I could get myself into when my phone rang.
“Where have you been, heffa?” Ayanna’s voice came out loud over the phone.
“Whoa, take it down a notch and who you callin a heffa, ho?” I laughed.
“Oh okay you got me. But for real, girl, I came by there earlier to tell you what’s been up with me!” Ayanna exclaimed.
“Oh lordy, what’s up now, girl?” I laughed.
“Girl, I think I have lost my damn mind over this kid!” Ayanna squealed.
“Okay now Stella. See? You didn’t even have to go all the way to Jamaica to get your groove back. I’m not mad at you girl.”
“I’m serious, Eva! I think he got me wrapped around his little finger. Today he sent me a dozen pink roses to my job with a poem that he wrote inside,” she said.
“A poem? Hold up, you didn’t tell me Mario could write. Read it to me.”
Ayanna cleared her throat. “It says, ‘Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, Guess Which Position, I Can’t Wait to Try on You?”
It was quiet for a second and then we both cracked up laughing. I laughed my silly ass right off the edge of my bed.
“Yanna, damn girl, you are crazy! And that boy did not write that mess on a card. You’re playing, right? Got me laughing and falling off stuff,” I somehow managed to say between giggles.
“I’m for real this is what he wrote! Eva, he has flip-flopped and crisscrossed me so much that a pretzel ain’t got nothing on me! I cannot imagine what else he could possibly be thinking of trying. I can’t believe he’s only twenty-one. No wait, yes I can. Mario never seems to get tired, and never ever seems to get enough. On top of everything else Eva, he compliments me. He notices everything about me, even when I change the color of my eye shadow. I know y’all probably think I’m crazy for even going there with someone so much younger than me, but he makes me laugh. He pays attention to my needs and tries his best to fulfill them. I think I might even love his young ass,” Ayanna said with her trademark sarcasm. But I heard the smile in her voice.
I became misty-eyed listening to her. She has been my girl since middle school, always so in charge and in control. Submissive was never in her category. Yet here she is expressing how this guy makes her feel in a way that I had never heard before from her. It made me think of my own status as a newly single woman and I felt a little sad. Not because I was jealous, of course. I don’t have a jealous bone in my body. I was happy for my girl, ecstatic even. At that moment though, I was just reflecting on my own love life or the lack thereof.
“Yanna, do not even worry about what anybody else thinks. Why would you start now? If he has you smiling and sounding like you’re on cloud nine then he’s good for you. I say keep him around and see where it goes. Enjoy him, honey. Life is too short not to live it to the fullest.”
“Aww, see, you got me all teary eyed and stuff,” Ayanna laughed. “But thanks, girl. I can’t believe how he makes me feel, but I am enjoying it. Whoever doesn’t like it knows exactly where they can go.”
“With gasoline drawers on, honey,” I added. “Gasoline drawers.”
Chapter 9
I was singing at the top of my lungs on a Saturday morning to the tune of Never Again by Mary J. The song was speaking to my soul, as Mary’s songs always d. I always have to sing along. I had a smile on my face, I felt good, and the sun was shining. Days like these that make me happy just to be alive. I woke my kids up early, and we cleaned the house from top to bottom. Cleaning on Saturday mornings is part of our routine. We do it in the early morning hours so that we still have the rest of the day to ourselves.
“Hello?” I answered my ringing phone sweetly.
“Hey sexy, how are you?” Tyler said in his deep flirtatious tone.
“I’m just fine, and yourself?”
“Much better now that I can hear that angelic voice of yours. Whatcha doin over there?” he asked.
“Oh nothing, just reading a book. Passing the time by since I have nothing to do,” I responded.
“Why don’t I come over and fix that little problem you got.”
“Why don’t you then?”
“Done. I’ll be there in about an hour or so, okay baby?”
Lawd! I love when he calls me baby! I can’t explain why, but it makes me smile like a Cheshire cat.
“Okay baby, I’ll see you soon.”
After having a nice dinner with the kids, I was watching a little TV when I immediately began to smile as I heard Tyler’s car pull into the driveway. Then I abruptly stopped. Here I was again, smiling and looking all goofy too soon. He may turn out to be just another disappointment. I shouldn’t judge everybody the same, but at that point, my track record with men is oh for two, so I wasn’t taking any chances.
Still, Tyler has this way about him that makes me feel like everything is alright. He hasn’t come to me with any BS yet, so that’s a major bo
nus. I shook away my negative thoughts, checked myself out in the mirror, and went downstairs to open the door.
“Hey you,” Tyler greeted me with a hug and a kiss.
“Hey yourself,” I grinned back at him.
We hugged briefly and then stepped inside to sit in the den to talk.
“It’s awfully quiet around here. Where is everybody?” Tyler asked.
“I thought Kayla and Miles were upstairs playing video games but when I went to check on them they were both passed out. I guess all the chores wore them out,” I laughed.
“Sooo…I guess that means we have a quiet moment to ourselves, huh?”
I laughed. “Oh no, I don’t think so, honey.”
“I was just kidding, but you can’t blame a brother for trying, can you?”
That’s the thing about Tyler. He makes me smile every moment I’m with him. I had to put my feelings on the table to see where his head was at.
Look Tyler, I’m feeling you. I mean I can see myself really getting into you. What I need to know is, are you sure there isn’t something that you’re leaving out? It’s early in the game and I know that, so I’m not tripping. Just stay all the way real with me and I will do the same. Is that cool, Tyler? Can you do that?
Tyler just studied my face for a few minutes. He got the strangest grin on his face, then he kissed me. Our kiss was soft, passionate, and sweet. When we finally parted lips, he just stared at me.
“What?” I finally asked.
“I’m just amazed at your beauty. I think it’s cute when you get serious or upset. Your little nose wrinkles up and you look so irresistible.”
“Well, cute or not, you better know that I am serious,” I said.
Then I kissed him again. Kissing him is so natural and sensual. I feel like I could kiss him all day. His hands roamed all over my body and I loved that too. The way he caressed my breasts and behind turns me on so much that I could explode from his touch. I could feel myself getting too aroused, so I excused myself and asked him if he wanted something to drink.
“I got juice, bottled water, whatever you want.”
“I’ll take whatever you bring me.”
I poured juice for both of us and popped in one of my all time favorite movies, All About The Benjamins. We laughed and spoke all our favorite parts along with Mike Epps.
“I swear I enjoy that movie. Every time I see it like it’s the first time,” I managed to say between laughter.
“Yeah, me too. So what are you interested in doing now?” Tyler asked with a sly grin on his face.
My body immediately flushed red-hot waves all over. What is it about this man that makes me feel like I’m burning up? But I had to fight the feeling. I didn’t want to go there. Not at the moment anyway.
“Oh no mister,” I said jokingly. “We are not going there. I am enjoying your company, and I want to keep it that way. Besides, what if the kids wake up?”
It was a perfectly valid question, but I still waited for his response.
His face changed to a serious expression.
“You’re right, E, my bad. I just can’t help myself. You’re just too damn sexy, girl,” he said.
Then he leaned forward and kissed me softly, but with a true passion I could feel in my toes. He put his hand on my leg, and it felt like a thousand volts of electricity ran straight through me. He moved his hand up higher until he reached my wetness and he stopped, looked at me, and smirked. I wasn’t wearing any panties.
“What?” I shrugged. “I never wear underwear around the house. I like to be comfortable and free.”
“Oh yeah, well that’s good for me. Easy access, baby,” he said with that seductive grin I was growing to love.
He moved his hand forward and put one finger deep inside my love. Back and forth, he moved it in and out of me. Then he put two fingers inside, then three. My breathing quickened and he smirked. He began to massage my clit real fast with his free hand and I squirmed and started moaning softly because I knew I couldn’t be loud.
Tyler could see my inner turmoil and he kept torturing me slowly. Before I knew it, I was on the verge of a huge orgasm. He knew it too, and he teased me more and more, pushing his fingers in and out slow then fast, making soft and quick circles on my clit.
“Oh my God, I’m about to cum, baby,” I whispered.
“Cum then. Do it for your man,” he instructed.
And that’s exactly what I did. My legs began to shake and I was dripping wet. Then I felt a burst from deep inside me rise all the way up and then released all over his hand. He bent down in front of me and began licking my clit fast then slow, fast then slow. I was trying to push him away because I was still having aftershocks of the first orgasm and he was about to make me have another one immediately.
“Oh shit, Tyler, please stop! I can’t take it! Please stop! I don’t want anyone to wake up and come down. Oh…shiiiiittttt!”
I was stopped in the middle of my sentence as I was hit by the biggest orgasm I have ever had in my entire life. I grabbed the back of his head and rode his tongue like a pro. I was shaking and couldn’t stop. He backed away from me, sat up, and wiped his mouth. He stood up to go to the bathroom, and I could see that he was hard as a rock. He left me on the couch, gasping for air. When he came back, I was on the verge of nodding off to sleep. Tyler sat down beside me with a satisfied grin.
“Wipe that damn grin off your face, you slick dog. You knew exactly what you were doing, knowing we can’t do much more than that right now,” I said laughing.
“Well, you weren’t complaining a few minutes ago, so hush and relax, I got you, baby.”
Damn. He was sexy as hell. Dimples and mahogany skin, short curls in his close cut, and a body of muscles that seemed to go on forever. I laid my head on his chest and listened to his heartbeat. We stayed like that for a little while. It was peaceful. It wasn’t forced. It was exactly what I wanted and needed at the moment. Tyler is quickly becoming my type of guy. Yet quiet as kept, I’m scared as hell.
Chapter 10
I was on my way home from work and realized that I hadn’t talked to Ciara since her fiasco with Jay’s son’s mom, so I decided to give her a call.
“Hey girl, haven’t heard from you in awhile. How’s it going?” I said.
“It’s going I guess. Of course, Jay was real apologetic. He told me that Jamilla had been making comments about me for a while, and that she had also been trying to get back with him. I told him that still didn’t change the fact that she said he’d been slipping on the child support. Jay says that was a lie, and that he has all his receipts. I don’t know, Eva. I mean, what can I say? You know some baby-mamas just don’t know when to let go. And I can’t prove anything. This is the worst kind of situation to be in,” Ciara said with sadness in her voice.
I know her type of pain. It’s the pain and fear of the unknown.
What’s he hiding? Is he lying to me? Should I trust him?
I know what Ciara is going through because I’ve been there too many times to count.
“Honey, only you can decide how you want to handle this. I think there may have been something to what Jamilla was saying because she was hella pissed. Maybe she did try to get with Jay and he turned her ass down so she lashed out at you. Who knows? The question is, what are you going to do about it?”
She sighed. “I love Jay. I don’t want to give up what we’ve been building together for so long. Is that bad? I am pissed at him for having me out in the streets fighting like a ghetto queen, and I’ve let that be known. He says he’s sorry, and I think I can get past this. As long as it never happens again. You probably think that’s lame, huh?”
“Girl, please. I would never judge you. How could I, even if I wanted to? You know my story. If you want to keep Jay, then that is your business. All I’m going to say is keep your eyes open. Where there is dirt, a dog will come around one day to dig it up. You don’t have to go looking for it. The truth always comes out.”
“And
let the church say amen.” Ciara said.
Chapter 11
When I got home, I was so exhausted that I made sure Miles and Kayla were straight and I took a nap. I was sleeping good. Real good. I dreamt that I was on a cruise with my husband, Jay Z. He was just about to rub sunblock on my back when my damn cell phone started ringing.
“Hello?” I answered with much irritation in my voice.
“Damn, is that any way to answer the phone? All that ‘tude and stuff?” Ayanna laughed.
“Yanna, no you did not just wake me up from my cruise with Jigga to crack jokes?”
Ayanna cracked up. “Girl, you are too funny, you hear me? A’ight, Imma tell B on you,” she teased talking about Beyoncé.
“Girl, B, who? Wassup Yanna? And what time is it anyway?” I asked.
“It is 10am. Time to get your stankin breath ass up so you can listen to what I have to tell you!” she said with way too much excitement for 10am.
“Yanna, how many cups of coffee have you had? I told you to lay off the hard stuff. Now what do you have to tell me?”
“Ooooh Eva, I had too much fun last night with Mario!” she exclaimed.
“Did you now? Do tell.”
“Well, we decided we didn’t want to do the whole club thing, so we decided to stop by this new place, Lefty’s on Fifth, to shoot some pool and have a few drinks. You know I don’t hardly know how to play pool, but Mario made sure he taught me how to hold the stick,” she said with a snicker.
“Eww…T.M.I.S.” I said.
“Hold up, T.M.I…S.?”
“Too Much Information, Shit!” I yelled while laughing.
She laughed too. “You stupid, Eva. Now shut up and listen.”
“Shutting up,” I said still giggling.
“Okay where was I? Oh yeah, we played a few games of pool and drank I don’t know how many JELL-O shots. Yes, honey, I said JELL-O shots. They have the nerve to sell them two for a dollar on Saturdays. With Tequila in them!”
