Lucky stared at him wide eyed feeling stupid. She shook her head yes. He raised an eyebrow at her waiting to see what other off the wall shit was going to come out of her mouth. “If you’re not big on drugs then why do you...?” Lucky didn’t finish her question. Los cut her off by giving her a look that said ‘shut the fuck up!’ and she did. He mouthed to her “Never in the car.” She winced and put her hands to her mouth, squeezing her eyes shut. Los lived by the motto you could never be too careful. His car had been sitting in a parking lot for days there was no telling what somebody could have done to it, and he wouldn’t feel comfortable talking in it until he did a sweep on it. This was combing over the entire car with a wand like tool that detected bugs or wires located anywhere houses or cars. Los looked over at Lucky and had to chuckle. “You gon learn baby girl. Damn what am I gonna do wit you?” is all he could say shaking his head with a smirk plastered on his face. Los sat there for a second trying to digest that whole episode before grabbing the wheel and pulling back onto the highway.
His phone went off shortly after he got back on the road. “What up playboy?” he listened to the other person on the phone and then started laughing. “Man, yo why my girl think I was a fuckin crackhead?” “What?!” she heard the males voice echo through Los’s phone. Los laughed and Lucky looked over at him and wanted to disappear. Los stayed on the phone a few minutes longer before he wrapped up his phone call. After his call they drove in silence mostly because Lucky was embarrassed as hell. “I’m sorry baby,” Lucky blurted out, looking over at him with apologetic eyes. He looked over at her and smiled, “We good Lucky, I’m not mad, really. How long do you have till you go back to school?” “Two weeks.” Los shook his head with approval while looking at the road. “A’ight, you gonna stay with me for the next two weeks,” he stated. Lucky didn’t object to that shit she was excited. He took the next exit on the highway where the sign read Scottsdale PA. When they entered the town of Scottsdale Lucky was in awe. The homes were huge. And the further they went into town the homes got even larger and further apart from one another.
Lucky sat silent as they pulled onto a road that seemed to be private. The road ended blending right into a circular driveway of this huge house that looked more like a mini mansion, the type of home that a celebrity or athlete would live in. Lucky couldn’t help it, her mouth dropped open before she realized how crazy she must’ve looked and closed it. Los caught the look on her face and smiled inwardly. Bringing the car to a stop in front of the house he hopped out of the car and started unloading the suitcases, while Lucky just sat there in the car, still a little awestruck. Umm is this his house?! Cause damn! Nah this can’t really be his house. “Lucky you gonna get out? Or just sit in the car lookin crazy?” Los asked snapping Lucky out of her daze. She bet she did look a little crazy right now.
Lucky followed him into the foyer of the house. The high vaulted ceilings made the house look even bigger from the inside. The grand staircase and catwalk that looked over the foyer spanning the entire length of the house was gorgeous. While Lucky was standing there admiring her surroundings looking like a hillbilly that just hit the lottery and copped a mansion. Los was busy trying to get all the luggage in the house. He turned to leave and get the rest of the suitcases running right into Lucky. “Oh shit! Luck I’m sorry. What you doing standing here like that? I know ya lil ass not gonna help with the suitcases, so just go make yourself at home.” Lucky looked at him rolled her eyes and walked slowly up the stairs that ascended the second level of the house.
Walking past two guest rooms and one room she knew had to be Kynah’s. The princess décor was a dead giveaway. Everything was princess from the painted murals on the walls to the pink flat screen television. The little brat even had her own bathroom in the room decorated in the same theme. Lucky continued on with her little tour walking out of Ky’s room a few feet down the hall meeting two French styled double doors, trying the handles only to find the doors were locked. She concluded this had to be the master suite. Shrugging her shoulders, she continued on there was a lot more to be seen in the house, she would come back to this room later. She did a mental count in her head 2 bedrooms down stairs and 4 bedrooms upstairs including the master suite. A total of 6 bedrooms and countless bathrooms it seemed as if every damn room had its own private bath. Lucky could never figure out why rich people’s homes had so many damn bathrooms? They had more bathrooms than bedrooms. Never mind Lucky thought as she bounced down the stairs heading towards the lower level. Los was standing at the landing, looking genuinely amused. Lucky breezed past him making quick steps towards the kitchen.
“Wow, Niiiiicce.” Imported Brazilian granite countertops, plasma on the wall, state of the art, high end stainless steel appliances and beautiful wood cabinets. Straight up, the kitchen belonged on one of those top 10 HGTV amazing kitchens episodes. The fridge was unlike anything she had ever seen, french door design with two pull out freezers at the bottom, the LCD built in TV on one side of the doors on the fridge is what caught Lucky’s attention.
“If you hungry you can look in the fridge for something to eat. I’m not really sure what’s in there cause I don’t stay here all that often,” Los said seeing that she was staring at the fridge. Lucky was starving. That nearly seven hour flight had made her hungry. Yes, they had full meals in first class but she didn’t eat the food, more like picked over the food. She walked over to the fridge and was disappointed to see that it was damn near empty. There was alcohol, bread, water and orange juice that was so old it looked discolored. A pizza box and Chinese food containers. Lucky picked up a gallon of milk noticing the sell by date. Oh my god the sell by date is over a month old. Ewww! Lucky screwed her face up and looked at Los. “You don’t have a thing to eat in here, and why the hell do you have all this old ass food in here? Baby this is nasty.” “I told you I really don’t stay here.” This dude crazy, if I had a home like this I would be my ass home every day. “Well I’ma have to go to the grocery store, cause it’s nothing to eat in here. I know you in a rush to go wherever you going, but Daddy I’m hungry. You can’t leave me way out here with nothing to eat,” Lucky whined. Los chuckled “Greedy ass face,” he joked. “Baby girl just go grocery shopping right there,” he pointed to the fridge. Lucky looked at him as if he were crazy. “How am I supposed to go grocery shopping in the fridge?” Los fell over laughing, Lucky wasn’t laughing though she didn’t see the humor, she just stared at him. “Ma close the door,” Los instructed slowly as if she were missing a few screws. He walked over and pressed a few buttons on the LCD screen. A grocery store website popped up on the screen along with a virtual reality looking woman who asked how could she assist with shopping today. Lucky looked over at Los wide eyed. Los pushed a button on the screen that read categories, Deli, Bakery, Poultry etc appeared on the screen. “Look just push this button pick what you want and add how many to the cart and you set.” Lucky was speechless, she was aware of grocery stores having home delivery services, where you could purchase your food from home via computer, but a fridge with wifi capabilities? Definition of ballin! “Here, charge the food to this credit card, make sure you put the order in before 6pm, them muthafucka’s don’t be wanting to deliver way out here too late.” He grabbed Lucky by her little waist and hoisted her up ontop of the island countertop. Leaning in he placed a tender kiss on her forehead then her lips. “I gotta go,” he tried to leave but Lucky wrapped her legs around his waist holding him in place. “Wait! Baby I’m tired and the door to the master bedroom is locked.” Los hesitated for a split second, more out of the newness of the whole situation. Having someone in the very private and intimate places in his home was new. “Here,” he said placing the key in her palm and simultaneously placing a sensual peck kiss on her lips. “The quicker you let me go the quicker I’ll be back.” “Umm.” Lucky pouted before opening her legs to let him go.
It took Lucky less than an hour to buy $729 dollars worth of food. She didn’t even know where she was going to
put all of it. Lucky got more addicted to the beep noise the screen was making every time she placed something into the cart, the noise sounded as if she was really getting checked out at the grocery store. Before she knew it she had racked up quite a bit of food.
When the delivery men came to deliver the food she had trouble opening the gate to let them in. Finally she figured out how to do it after five minutes and the delivery men looked pissed. As the two men began to load the foyer with food Lucky only then realized what over 700 dollars worth of food looked like in person. Had she been in the store actually placing things in a cart she would’ve known she was committing over kill.
“Ma’am the bags with the red tickets on the front of them contain frozen foods so you might want to get them in a freezer quickly.” “Oh, Okay,” was Lucky’s only reply as her eyes roamed the foyer and she realized she was going to have to go through the painstaking duty of putting all that food away. She tipped the men locked up and went through the monotonous task of putting away all those damn groceries. Discovering a huge pantry in the kitchen was her saving grace because she placed a lot of the groceries in there. When she was all done, the refrigerator was filled including both sections of the freezers. Lucky was through though she was so tired she wasn’t even hungry anymore. She grabbed an apple and bottled water before dragging herself upstairs. Pulling out the key Carlos gave her she unlocked the double doors.
The room was absolutely beautiful, and for a minute Lucky became jealous when she figured there was no way a man could have decorated, this definitely had a woman’s touch. Lucky’s assumptions were absolutely right. Los had no hand in décor that was left to his mother and the interior decorator, all he did was sign off on the checks. The room featured a fireplace, vaulted ceilings and the sky light over the bed was stunning. The furnishing was top notch and the California King sized bed looked comfortable enough to sleep in for days. Going further into the room she stopped at the master bathroom. His and her sinks, granite countertops, large sunken spa bathtub, and separate shower with seamless glass doors. If you were far away you would think the shower had no enclosure to it. Wow, wow, wow, is all Lucky could think.
The closet though was amazing! It looked more like a small store in your local mall than a closet. Expensive wood hangers adorned with Los’s initials on them filled the closet. He had some of everything in there, varying from street gear to corporate 500 CEO gear. In the middle of the closet sat two large glass display tables that held jewelry in them. Watches, chains, bracelets, it was plain ridiculous; it looked like a damn jewelry store.
Last but not least the tour ended in a separate room connected to the master bedroom. She could tell this had to be Los’s man spot. It was a pretty big room with a sofa and two matching designer chairs, a cocktail table that was cluttered with playstation games scattered on top, remotes to different gaming systems Playstation 3 and Xbox were thrown carelessly on the couch and table, a few bags of weed and Dutch masters. Lucky laughed to herself typical damn man. I guess no matter the status they still have that little boy in them.
The tour was nice but being she was so tired her main mission in life at that very moment was to shower and hit the sack. Going back into the master bath to shower she stood there just looking at all the buttons in the shower. Calling Los would take way too much time and energy. Looking at the 6 shower heads she had no idea which button was to activate or deactivate certain jets but she was going to wing it. In the end she ended up coming out of the shower with her hair soak and wet. She climbed into that huge bed practically melting into the pillow top mattress. Flinging some of the many decorative pillows out of her way she grabbed a pillow fluffed it up and was off to lala land. Before falling off to sleep she took in her lavish surroundings one last time. I could get used to this, I really, really can.
Block is Hot
And in local news there were two shootings in the city last night that left 3 dead. Club Karisma isn’t new to making the news for violence erupting in its venue. However, last night’s incident left two dead and more than a dozen injured as club goers were trampled trying to escape gunfire that erupted inside the South Philadelphia nightclub. The club will be closed indefinitely while the owners are investigated for code violations including expired liquor license. In other news the body of a woman in her early twenties was found in an alley way on the Southwest side of Philly. The victim was reportedly shot to death; her name hasn’t been released until further notification of family. Philadelphia’s police chief Daniels said the violence that took place in the city last night will not be tolerated. Los shook his head in disgust as he turned the radio off by the power button on his steering wheel. “Unfucking believable,” he fumed to himself. Them lil niggaz had managed to set the whole city on fire in the matter of three days.
Los entered the offices of Grize Roc records with a headache on the horizon. Pushing the frosted double glass doors open he spotted Buju, and Meat sitting on the Italian leather couches in the waiting area engrossed in conversation. As soon as they noticed Los in the doorway Buju’s expression turned into a goofy grin. “Uh Oh daddy’s home!” Meat called out loudly trying to be on some funny shit. Both men laughed and dapped each other out. “Boss man ya pickney run amuke when you leave from da yawd,” Buju said in a thick Jamaican accent. Los couldn’t do shit but smirk slightly and shake his head at his two niggaz making light of the situation at hand. “Yo, they all back there, waiting on you,” Meat managed to say through light laughter.
Los walked down the hallway to his office and entered. Nice, Rel, Jah, Real and a couple young bulls from the wolf pack were already posted up in his office. Nice had rallied up all the knuckleheads that had a part in the club shooting. “Aight muthafuckas don’t all start talking at the same time,” Los gritted. Silence filled the room before Jah spoke up
“Ayo we went to do the drop but shit just went crazy, them dudes tried to pull grimey, all I know is one of them bama niggaz said there go Los right there, then they started dumping on us, so we had no choice but to lay niggaz out in the club.” Los exhaled deeply, his jaw tightened in anger showing his aggravation. “So they mistook you for me and just started shooting?” Jah shook his head in confirmation. Los didn’t say anything instead he bobbed his head up and down deep in thought. It was definitely plausible for someone who didn’t know him all too well to mix him up in a dark club with his cousin. Nonetheless, they bodied two niggaz in a crowded club and many more were injured; now they had the whole city hot. Los’s mind went to his cousin who had set up the deal. “Y’all spoke to Chilly about what went down?” “Yeah, and dude swear on everything he had no idea them dudes was gon try and pull some jack boy shit.” “Well them niggaz aint end up getting shit but toe tagged, we’ll just lay low till the city cool down,” Los concluded. The quick glance exchanged between Real and Jah told Los there was more to this story. “What?” Los asked. “One of them niggaz got away, he made it out the club and hopped in a car outside that was waiting,” Jah rambled off knowing Los was going to lose it. Los’s entire face turned hard and his eyes darkened. “You sitting here telling me that a muthafucka tried to get at me and y’all let him get away?” Los gritted. “Man that nigga was moving like the wind, picking bitches up using them as shields and everything,” Jah said trying to cop a plea. “I don’t give a fuck you shoulda shot them bitches too! They knew the risk before they walked up in a hot ass club like Karisma,” Los snapped. Nice chuckled laughing at Los’s comment. “Speaking of chicks getting shot y’all wouldn’t know anything about ole girl they found in Southwest Philly right?” Los asked. “Awe hell nah!” Los barked on them knowing the answer to his own question from their facial expressions. He didn’t know how but he felt they had something to do with the bullshit the moment he heard it on the radio. Los took his snapback off and ran his hands over his waves then face, exhaling hard. It was shit like this that could bring extra heat. Young innocent girl shot dead in the streets, the media loved to take stories like that and
run with them. Next thing you know they’ll be holding candle light vigils and a stop the violence march making it hard out here for niggaz to eat.
“Somebody explain to me how she got involved.” Jah took a deep breath before he answered. “Keema. I told her hardheaded ass to stay in the house last night but she followed me out to the club. I knew shit was about to pop off so I told her to leave and wait outside for me. She did, but when we ran out the club wit burners on us ole girl was in the car with Keema sitting shotgun. Keema peeled off getting us away from the club, while this chick was in the front seat buggin hardbody. She kept screaming she ain’t going to jail, screaming on Keema to pull over and let her out. Then she looked back at us talkin bout she can’t believe we shot up the club. We pull up to a red light and another car pulled up beside us, they looking inside the jeep like fuck is going on? Cause she hysterical, bringing way too much heat to a car full of niggaz that’s all dirty. I told Keema to pull into the Alley over by the Ville, I snatched ole girl out the front seat and put two in her. I couldn’t have that broad put every nigga in that car away for life.”
“You bodied her in front of Keema! Fuck is wrong wit you?” “Yo Los I had to, we wasn’t driving one more mile wit that crazy hoe.” “What about Keema though? Wasn’t that her friend?” Los asked with slight alarm. “Nah she said they took a few classes together in the past and they ran into each other at the club that night. Keem ain’t go by her house to pick her up so no one can say she went out with Keema, shit Keem ain’t even have her phone number. ” Jah couldn’t read Los’s facial expression it was blank but he knew where Los’s mind was most likely going. “Keema not no threat yo, she know the rules of the game, believe none of what you see and only half of what you hear. I taught her that myself trust she aint gon say shit.” Los put his hand up to silence Jah “A’ight, I hope you know what you doing, I’ma hold you to this. Remember you co-signed Keema so if she ever becomes a problem you already know. And you better get her ass in check if you told her to stay her ass in the house that’s where she should’ve been.” Jah discreetly took a sigh of relief. He kept his game face on but inwardly he was happy Los didn’t see Keema as a threat. He wasn’t worried about Keema ever snitching; he knew that would never happen.
