The Trouble With Savi Page 7

by Danielle Logan

"No, I've been staying in bed." Looking to Eric, she spoke with great admiration. "My new friend over here has been taking great care of me."

"Well, that's good dear," Dr. King replied. "I have a few more questions for you. Are there any more symptoms or changes, anything new or different where your health is concerned?"

"I don't think so." Savi answered back, once again looking back to Eric. "Have you noticed anything?"

Eric addressed both Savi and Dr. King's questions "Well, I have noticed she has been tired more so lately and that was even before the food poisoning, also she has complained of some weight gain."

"Ahh, I see. Savannah, what was the date of your last menstrual cycle?"

Looking to Eric and then back to the doctor, "I'm not sure what that has to do with anything, but I'm not sure. I've never really kept track of it."

"Savannah I'd like to do a blood draw. I have a few questions that I'd like some answers to, and this blood draw will help me sort those out. We have an in house phlebotomist now, so I'll have her come in and get all that going. We should have the results in about an hour or so. Come back then and I'll squeeze you in to let you know what we find out."

  *****

The waiting was unbearable. Savi had mentioned to Eric that she didn't want to go home and wait it out. It would just be too much for her to handle. Since Savi didn't want to be far, they waited in their car in the parking garage.

Eric could only guess what the doctor was thinking, and his stomach sank. Were they really ready for this, could they pull through this as a couple? They were new to the whole marriage thing and they were still working out the kinks where that was concerned. A new addition to their family would not be ideal right now.

Eric looked to his wife and watched as she slept peacefully in the car next to him, and he knew that with her at his side, they could get threw anything. She was the person that God had intended for him and he knew right then and there that no matter what Dr. King had to say to them, they would get through it together.

  *****

"So it's just a stomach bug, that's it, nothing else?"

  "That's right."

  "So she'll be okay?"

"Yes Mr. Matthews she'll be fine, this too shall pass. For now just stick to liquids and lots of rest. It's just a nasty bug that's been going around."

"Thanks Dr. King, glad to know it's nothing serious."

"Just keep pushing the liquids. You two can see yourselves out."

"Wait," Savi spoke up, "what about the weight gain? What is that all about?"

"Well darlin', most people gain weight their first year of marriage, it's like they say, fat and happy."

"Excuse me! Did you just call me fat?"

Eric leaned over and whispered in Savi's ear, "Not now, Savannah. That's not what he meant."

"How dare you speak to a patient like that?" Without giving Dr. King a chance to speak, she grabbed her purse and stormed out of the exam room and out to the car, leaving both the doctor and Eric behind. A few moments later, Eric was standing next to her.

"I just had to apologize to the doctor because of your rude behavior."

"I wasn't being rude that doctor, no. That man called me fat. I am far from fat. How dare he!"

"He didn't call you fat Savannah, he was using a euphemism."

Savi got into the car and slammed the door, "I don't care what he was using, he insulted me. I can't believe you let him call me fat!"

"For the last time Savannah, he didn't call you fat, it's just a saying. He was hinting to the fact that we are so happy, that you happened to gain a little weight." Eric placed a kiss upon her hand as they made their way home.

Bobby's advice was radiating through Eric's head, he knew that now was not the time to correct or punish her. Savi was ill and currently being irrational.

  Chapter Nine

Savi's health had gotten better, and Eric returned to his summer job as a lifeguard. They spent their days on the beach together, just as they had last summer, the summer they fell in love. The Beach Shack had reopened and once a week Savi would meet Josalyn there for lunch. This week was no different.

Savi arrived a little early and took the liberty of ordering for both of them. Josalyn ordered the same thing every time, tuna fish and chips with ranch on the side. Savi always got a chocolate milkshake with a side of fries; she loved to dip her fries in it. Thirty minutes had passed and Josalyn had yet to show up. Getting annoyed Savi continued to text Jos over and over again:

  Where are you?

  Hello?

  You're late!!

  Stop ignoring me!

Not one of Savi's texts were answered. What in the world did I do now? Why is it that everyone thinks they can treat me like this? I'll show her. I'll leave.

And that is just what Savi did. She grabbed her belongings and walked right out of The Beach Shack and over to Eric's lifeguard tower.

"Babe, I need to go home. Freaking Jos stood me up! I'm so livid. I don't think I can enjoy myself here!"

Looking to down to Savi from his lifeguard tower, he gave her a little wink "That's fine, but how are you going to get there? You can't drive remember."

With a huff, Savi stormed away from the lifeguard tower and went to her favorite spot on the beach, a little secluded bluff where she could have some peace and quiet.

When Eric's shift was over, he found his wife sun bathing in her secret location, her sun kissed skin glowing, the smell of the coconut tanning oil filling the air. Her golden curls fanned out across the towel she laid upon, while her arms rested at her side. The purple bikini fit her perfectly, not leaving much to the imagination, but yet modest enough to keep all her lady bits covered. She looked so beautiful and peaceful as she lay beneath the sun.

Eric tapped her shoulder, startling her, "Savannah, there is something I need to talk with you about." Eric made sure to choose his words wisely. Bobby had once told him that he needed to think before he acted and before he spoke. Eric had had most of the day to think about how he would bring this up to Savi, hopeful that this would go as he had planned out in his head.

Eric watched as Savi gathered her belongings off the beach, she moved in such a way that it almost seemed unreal to him, as if there was an angel before him. She walked to Eric and gave him a sweet kiss on the lips, "Can we talk at home? I'm exhausted from this heat."

  *****

"Why don't you take a seat so we can talk?" Eric said as he pulled the chair out for her.

"I'm a little oily. Do you mind if I stand?"

"No, that's fine." Eric sat down at the table as his wife stood before him in all her sultry glory. "So there was a bit of an incident at The Beach Shack today."

"What do you mean?" Savi questioned him

"Well, I guess a patron ran out on their tab."

"What?" Savi moved closer to Eric, sitting on the table next to him. "Who would do such a thing?"

"It looks as though you did."

"Me? No way. I would never do such a thing." Savi was adamant that she would have never left the restaurant without paying. Looking to her husband, she could see the pain in his eyes. Had I really done this? Not only had I done something stupid, I embarrassed him at his work. "I'm sorry Eric. I need to make this right. Please take me back so I can fix this."

"I already paid the tab Savi."

"That's not what I mean. I never intended to run out on it. Please, Eric, take me back so I can fix this. I need to fix this. I have to apologize."

Eric took Savi back to The Beach Shack so she could make amends. He was so proud of his wife for taking accountability for her actions instead of placing the blame on someone else. As he sat in the car watching Savi talk to both the owner and the waitress, he saw the love of his life trying to better herself, not just for herself, but for their marriage.

After Savi apologized to the employees of The Beach Shack, Eric drove them back home in utter silence. Savi kept to herself, thinking about everyth
ing that had happened. Before they knew it, they were home and Eric was pulling into the driveway. She had so many thoughts going through her head that she wasn't ready to go inside quite yet.

"I'll follow you up in a minute Eric. I want to finish this song."

Eric made his way into the apartment, leaving Savi behind as she asked.

When Savi and Eric were wed, they made a lot of changes in their lives, one being that they would only listen to Christian music and that they would leave secular music behind. Closing her eyes and leaning back into her seat, Savi listened to the words of one of her favorite songs, Lead Me by Sanctus Real. She let the words come alive in her soul.

The conversation she had with Steph was replaying in her mind, and this was just the song she needed to hear. This song showed her that she not only needed God to show her the way, but that she needed Eric to lead her too.

Savi was young and stuck in her ways, which was something she had to change if she and Eric were going to succeed in their marriage, and that is what she wanted. He was the love of her life. Why couldn't she let her pride go and follow her husband's lead? She had done that tonight, but would she be able to see her fault in things in the future?

Marriage was new to her, and she knew there would be trials and tribulations, but in less than a year of marriage, hadn't they been through enough? Upon entering the apartment, she could hear the bath water running. Last time Eric drew her a bath, she was punished beforehand, could another spanking be in her future?

Taking a seat on the couch in the living room, Savi pondered what Eric's intentions were. Could he really want to punish me after tonight? I willingly went to The Beach Shack and apologized. Maybe he's being sweet. But why would he be sweet to me after what I did this afternoon?

With a tap on the shoulder, Eric startled her out of her innermost thoughts. Looking up at her husband, she noticed his chiseled jaw and emerald eyes. Standing to meet his gaze, she wrapped her arms around his neck and nuzzled her face into his chest.

"I'm sorry I've been such a brat lately." Looking into his eyes she said, "I love you Eric, I really do. I'm going to try harder to show you that I can do so much better. I promise you that. You mean the world to me Eric, you really do."

Laying a kiss upon her forehead, he said, "I know, baby." Eric took her hand and led her to the bathroom. "I drew this bubble bath for you." Spinning her around Eric slowly helped Savi undress, letting each article of her clothing drop to the floor.

Stepping out of her disheveled clothing, she slowly relaxed into the bath, letting the warm water encompass her naked body. Looking up at her husband, she watched him as he watched her. "Why don't you join me?" she asked. "There is always room for two."

Eric quickly undressed and slid in behind Savi. Resting her head on his chest, she closed her eyes and sank into him as he washed her naked shoulders.

"Savi, I think I owe you an apology, too."

She turned her head to look at her husband as he continued on. "I never should have left you alone after your last punishment, I'm sorry. Also, I am so proud of the way you handled yourself today. I was really impressed with how you owned up to your mistake."

"I never should have run out of The Beach Shack like that Eric, I am so sorry." As tears fell down her face, Eric kissed them away. Rising from the bath water, in one swift movement he pulled Savi up into his arms and carried her to the bed.

Laying her wet body down on their bed, he traced her curves with his finger, taking his time to lay a kiss upon each of her breasts before he moved on to admiring her curvaceous body. She arched her back each time he placed a kiss upon her naked form. He watched as her body ached for him, and he could do nothing more than oblige her.
