“Aw! Look at that!” Nadine clapped her hands together. “I love it!”
Jude blushed and ducked his head. “Stop it.”
“I want all the kids for the rest of Thanksgiving break!” Nadine narrowed her eyes at all the fathers as they hesitated, looking at one another.
“Well, if they want to — ” Wyatt began.
“We want to!” Gage enthused.
“Okay, little man.” Preston rubbed Gage’s head.
“I’m going to teach Dasan how to cook.” Nadine took the younger man’s hand.
“Well, he makes really good cakes.” Jude winked at Dasan.
“Speaking of cake, who wants dessert!” Nadine stood up. All the men stood with her and she waved a hand at them. “Nonsense, Joe and Sam will help. You all sit back down.”
After dessert was served and eaten, Jude took a walk with Hayden along the beach. The full moon was out and the stars were plainly visible.
“I love it out here,” Jude sighed.
Hayden stopped and pulled Jude into his arms. He rocked with him slowly, nuzzling his hair and ear.
“I never thought it could be like this with us,” Hayden murmured in Jude’s ear. “I never thought I’d see the day that I could hold you in my arms, breathe in your scent. I love you, Jude.”
Jude looked up into Hayden’s eyes. “I love you, too. Will you sing to me?”
Hayden blinked. “You want me to sing?”
“Yes.” Jude kissed Hayden’s jaw.
Hayden thought about it, then let the music and lyrics flow through his head. He began to sing softly in Jude’s ear, dancing in the moonlight.
Jude sighed. “I love this song.”
“I know. It’s on your iPod.”
Jude smiled, wrapping his arms around Hayden’s neck. The song was One Republic’s “Say All I Need.” Jude rested his head on Hayden’s chest as they moved to Hayden’s voice. The man he’d tried so hard to forget was wrapped around him.
God, he never wanted to be anywhere else.
