“You can still ask me that?” I stared at her with a great hatred as I felt like beating her face. Nevertheless I looked up and thought of it better.

“I don’t know what you're talking about.” Mirta smoothed her hair, looking stunned. She looked to know something was wrong with me.

“I know everything.” I faced her gravely. Nobody could prevent me from giving her that gaze.

  “About?”

“About the kiss between you and Eros,” I affirmed and compressed my lips in fury. That scene was still in my mind. Even I wanted it so much but it could not go out of my head.

“Did he say that to you?” Mirta was desperate to know how I was informed of everything. She imagined that Eros had told me everything.

“Make good use of him!” I said with my head up. I would never show my weakness at all. I was broken in the interior. But not a soul should know about it, about my suffering after that cursed kiss. I felt like pulling my own hair.

“Valkyrie! Wait!” she cried hopelessly towards my back as I continued walking in front.

But I looked back at her and remained firm with my posture. Mirta’s voice didn’t sound something fine to my ears.

“You made your choice,” I said, uncompromising.

Then I turned my back to her and started to walk on not giving her a chance to approach me.

The link involving my friendship with Mirta had broken when she was rewarded with Eros’ kiss.

Mirta would never occupy the post of my friend after all that had happened.

  CHAPTER 17

I arrived home and threw my knapsack on the couch first, after that; I ended up sitting on it. My eyes remained set on the floor as my thoughts were sheltered by my sadness.

Eros and Mirta’s scenes were chasing me all the time.

“Ah, daughter, you are back from school.”

I raised my eyes and looked at my mother’s picture. She was standing in the kitchen doorway and holding a tablecloth.

But I remained silent and my head descended another time.

“What happened, dear?” her voice questioned.

My mother perceived I was not well this day and something made me tormented.

“Why are you looking like this?”

She asked again after she walked to me and sat at my side. Her hand touched mine.

“Nothing has happened, mother.” My voice finally declared. But my head kept its decline.

During that, I heard a puff of air coming out of my mother’s mouth. Her eyes ran aside as she insisted.

“Valkyrie, I know you are not saying me the truth.” Her hand compressed mine. “I am your mother and that is not something hard to distinguish.”

“Okay.” Finally, I declared after a forced choice. “I had some problems at school today.”

Made a pause and looked up.

“I ended up quarreling with Mirta.”

“Why have you done that, daughter?” her eyes sounded surprised at my declaration. “You two always looked to be true friends.”

  I agreed.

“Yes, we were very friends, but Mirta has not been much loyal to our friendship.”

My mother’s forehead moved up and she questioned again.

“What has Mirta done to you? That’s something grave?”

  I delayed responding.

  “She is getting with Eros.”

My mother rose up from the sofa and walked to the side. Her face looked unsatisfied with that.

“Eros!” murmured with rebellion. “That boy always is taking you into confusion.”

  She insisted saying.

“I always speak you to keep away from him. That schoolboy is not a great company for you, daughter.” She left a solid breath. “He is very strange and sounds not to be much trustworthy.”

“Stop it, mother!” my voice exclaimed, as I echoed irritated at her advises. My mother looked to see only Eros was the wrong one in the story and Mirta was a saint. “Eros is not the unique one in the wrong.” My eyes darted up and reached the living room ceiling. “Mirta is a culprit as well.”

My mother’s hands descended and stopped at her waistline.

“Valkyrie, I really don’t get why you always defend that boy.” She kept gazing in my direction. “That gives the impression you and Eros have some strong connection. It is as if you could not stay away from him for long.”

My head shook for some instants. I continued sitting on the sofa.

“Mother, don’t say mistakes.” I tried to assert. “Eros is just an idiotic one and I don’t need him in my life.”

A weird knot came in my throat, at that moment; I was not being so honest with my words. I should say the truth to my mother and assume I needed Eros so much.

“I hope so.” My mother murmured in my course. “I hope so, daughter.”

My eyes rolled up as I was introduced to stop our conversation.

“Mother, I don’t want to talk about that anymore.”

She established her look on my image. “Okay, dear.”

A silence came over there. My mother walked in the direction of the couch and sat at my side over again. Her right arm slid over my shoulder and her lips kissed my cheek softly.

“Valkyrie, I want just your good.”

  “I know that.”

I affirmed after her soft kiss on my face. Soon, I faced her in the face and my right hand went up and touched one side of her countenance. I caressed it for a long time.

“I know you wish only my good.” smiled at her graciously. “You are my secure port here on the planet Earth.” Made a pause. “You always have been.”

My mother smiled at me and held my hand with grace. “Thank you, daughter, but again it sounds that you are in this world only for me and not for yourself.” in next to no time she tried to give details. “Sometimes you speak as if you have two worlds, and you need to be divided between them for a good number of forces.”

My eyes stared astonished at her. My head shivered during that.

“What converse is that?” I tried to show her my shock. “Two Worlds? Two planets?”

In next to no instance, I got up and walked in front. “Make yourself sure that I am not in two worlds.” I looked back at her. “Here is my world. This planet and you are my life and always will be.”

My mother marched to me and stooped facing me. She looked firmly at my face and gave me sweet smile. “Daughter, I always will be beside you. Always.”

Her adorable embrace covered my body. I received it with big pleasure.

“I always will be at your side as well.”

I embraced her with more strength.

“And I swear you I will protect you with my own blood.”

We remained hugged and one hand of my mother slid up tenderly and stopped in the direction of my nape. She started to stroke my loose-fitting dark hair.

Her fondness was exceptional and made my eyes close with great devotion and peace. On that occasion, I had truly forgotten the terrible scenes of Eros and Mirta together.

  CHAPTER 18

Now I had no friend in school. Mirta did not make contact with me after our discussion. She knew I no longer wanted her friendship, much less to tolerate her presence in my life.

That was why she always stayed away from me. She changed her sitting place in the classroom.

When math class ended, everyone left the scene. I remained in the classroom to take time and not to look at Mirta’s nose.

Someone returned to the classroom. I looked at the figure approaching me.

When I recognized who it was, I exclaimed, “Douglas!”

“Valkyrie! I need to talk to you.”

“If it's about us ...forget about it!” I ordered.

“Why do you not give me a chance?” he asked and his gaze insisted to find mine. But I turned my head down as I said him.

“I don't like you the way you behave.”

  “I don’t care about that.”

“But I do.” I grabbed my thing
s quickly. I had intention of leaving that place in a hurry. Douglas’s presence never pleased me at all.

He grabbed my arm with power and felt my skin’s coldness. His eyes automatically expanded at me.

“You feel cold!” he exclaimed to me.

“I am cold!” I said, looking at him and after that curving my head. “Now free my arm!”

  “No,” he said, decided.

I felt threatened by Douglas. I did not like the way he came near me. His desire for me made me upset. He hugged me and tried to kiss my lips without my consent.

My lips were near his neck.

I could not control my urge to drink his blood.

He screamed as he felt my teeth piercing his neck. His blood flowed down as I was sucking it more and more, without interruption.

I was wise to abandon my prey in time. I had sucked 99% of his blood.

He was unconscious. Soon, I perceived he was about to die within minutes. That was a terrible thing. Since then, my lips showed a hard curve while I thought I could not leave his corpse in the classroom and raise suspicions that there was a vampire among humans.

So minutes ago, I disappeared into a dark smoke taking his corpse into my arms. Really I was very sorry for his death, but that was very late to look remorseful.

His life had ended because of my monstrosity.

  CHAPTER 19

Eros and Mirta began dating frequently.

He went to school just to meet her at the school exit. It was a way for me to witness his involvement with her.

Basically, he wanted to hurt me, make me irritated. Maybe he wanted to take revenge on me for what my father did to him, having banished him from Neptune.

Despite his strong physical attraction for Mirta, I saw no other feeling in him. He seemed to want to use her to hit back at me.

  He was succeeding.

I watched the two in the schoolyard. Mirta put her hands on his face to caresses on him. She was smiling the whole time. Her face did not deny that she was in love with him.

All her feelings for Christian had disappeared.

She looked at me and saw that I watched them with my face serious. They then hugged and walked on and it shattered my nerves.

My vampire powers gave me wings to do several things that a human could not do. I focused my mind on a huge stone in the courtyard. It got up and moved rapidly towards Eros’ head. The stone scraped off his ear. As he was with his back to me, he couldn’t see the stone but he could sense the object approaching him. With the swift power of his mind he maneuvered the stone away from him before it could do any damage to his head.

He knew I had done it with my vampire powers.

He threw the stone back, without looking at me and walked beside her. Mirta did not see anything, she just looked at the stone on the ground when she heard the noise of the same falling down.

“What was that?” Mirta asked then, looking frightened.

“A stone has come for a walk,” Eros answered ironically after her question. His face remained firm and normal.

“What did you say?” she asked stunned at his vocabulary.

  “It is a joke!”

  CHAPTER 20

I came back home as a mere mortal ... walking.

In fact, I could become smoke and get home fast. But I did not want to do this because I needed to walk on by myself and reflect on my damn life. Nothing looked to work in behalf of me. Since I returned to planet Earth things sounded so difficult for me. That was accurate I looked like someone sorrowful.

Suddenly Eros came from the silent air and came down standing in front of me. I stopped walking after his unexpected presence and looked into his pale face. I could announce that his presence was not tolerable on that occasion.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, injured. The scene about Mirta and him was in my mind. My thoughts just made me hate him even more. It looked as if I was in front of a cruel enemy and not the vampire I was fallen in love with.

“That stone almost hit me,” he informed me, with great seriousness in his countenance. His gaze ran over my image in black facing him. Decided, I dared to challenge him with rebel words. My sense as a sophisticated girl had run away from me. I sounded unrecognizable to Eros’s eyes.

“What a pity! You stopped it in time.”

“Is that jealousy?” his voice asked with a pinch of irony. My open hand almost hit his face. But instead of that, my hand slid over my hair and tried to make it straight.

He finally figured out the reason for my violent reaction. Eros knew I was not used to be so aggressive at anything in my life. My conduct always showed him serenity. He also thought although I was a vampire, that reaction did not fit my behavior.

“Why don’t you leave me alone?” I asked in enragement after facing him in the eye another time. But that time, my eyes carried more resentment. That was not acceptable his action that day beside Mirta.

“I don’t think you really want that,” he said playing with his fingers and avoided looking in my face during that. But that didn’t prevent me from talking to him.

“Yes, I do want that.” I walked in front of him and stopped closer to his grave countenance. Our eyes met and for some instants, I didn’t know what to say just after facing his charming gray eyes. My mind failed in full. “Stop hasseling me!”

“All right” Nodded as he went up and vanished into the air as an invisible ordinary smoke. Without saying me goodbye or something looked like this, I remained stopped at the same place and during that, I looked up at the sky and did not see any trace of him. That caused a deep pain in my heart. I really didn’t know why Eros’s absence in my life always hurt my spirit, my heart, my feeling, my so miserable soul.

At that moment he had answered my prayer.

Now he was very away from me.

  CHAPTER 21

  Physical Education class

We came to the sports court. The teacher selected two women's teams to play volleyball this morning. Luckily for me, I was on the opposing team from Mirta. Also, because I would hate to play in the same team as her and having to hug her if our team came out the winner of that match.

Now the teams in order and each in their position on the court, the teacher who was courtside, whistled and the game began at that moment.

Mirta drew her ball and a girl from my team threw it back over the guard net. The ball returned to us and I touched it slightly and pushed the ball over the net and our opponents failed to catch the ball in hands.

  Punctuation for my team.

The girls hugged and I avoided their hugs. I did not want my cold body to get in touch with their warm bodies. At least it would be an exaggerated contrast. I did not want to feel embarrassed about it.

So the formula for this was simply 'keeping distance from humans'.

There was a break and the game would begin minutes after. So I looked at the indoor audience seating when a dark shadow approached it, soon I frowned toward it, making sure that it was Eros.

  What was he doing there?

The vampire was not attending school anymore but lived to circle the site.

So he sat on the highest part of the audience seating and stared at the court. Mirta looked, hussy, when she saw him there. She smiled at him, waved to him and then blew a kiss toward him through her fingers, with her nails painted in pink.

Eros held a slight smile on his face while also looked toward her.

Wow! I confess that scene stole my serenity. The effects of my anger began to take result on me. I was red, purple and blue in anger.

At this moment, I held the ball. After the break, I would perform the first service to my team.

Then I heard the sound of the whistle. The match started again. I bounced the ball three times against the floor of the court. Then I held it with will and threw it in the opposing direction.

I deliberately took aim on Mirta’s way. Her eyes widened when she tried to hold the ball that hit her stomach and threw her violently back. She
fell on her backside on the court floor, as she looked very impressed with the strength of the throw.

The whistle sounded another time. Point for my team.

Mirta got angry, so she looked at me and pressed her eyes in my direction. I stood staring at her from afar, holding back my lips a hidden smile. She deserved so much more than a simple fall on the sports court floor.

  Traitor!

At that moment, Mirta looked at me and muttered something under her breath, but I could hear what she was saying. I had good hearing for that.

  “Bastard!”

Eros continued watching us. He knew I had used my vampire powers to throw Mirta to the court ground.

Another throw would be done for me. I held the ball with design to proportionate my former friend one-second fall. But this one would be more intense because she had called me a bastard.

Then I would show her who the bastard was.

The ball bounced three times on the floor and then I threw it towards my opponents. The ball passed over the net with a lot of speed. I was using my powers of the vampire for it to reach the body of Mirta with extreme speed.

When the ball approached her more, it lost speed and Mirta was able to return it to her teammate.

I looked toward the audience seating and narrowed my gaze toward Eros. Seconds before he had used his vampire power and also avoided the second fall of Mirta. He did it on purpose.

Knowing this, I hated him even more, especially when he mockingly gave me a wave, a Kind of a ' hallo ' for his opponent.

At that second, I held myself not to commit a blunder and hit Eros with my invisible power and send him to a place far away from me.

Eros lately had the power only to challenge me, surprise me in a hostile mockingly way.

But what angered me the most was that he protected his beloved one.

He had neutralized the ball without people could notice it there, just to ensure the physical integrity of the traitor.
