This year has been absolutely crazy for me. I’ve had some good times and some not so great times, but through it all, I’ve had my writing. I have loved every frustrating minute and the characters that have come to be my family. With the series coming to a close sometime in the next year, I’m reminded that all good things must come to an end. I would like to thank all my fans for sticking with me through it all, and supporting me. Every comment on my facebook page and every review has uplifted me and urged me forward. I don’t know where I would be without all of you. I really appreciate the support more than you could ever know. Also, to everyone that has ever promoted my books or just talked about them in a group. Spreading the word about my books is the greatest help, and I truly appreciate it. I’d also like to thank my cover designer for coming up with some great designs over the last two months. Here’s to fixing all the rest! And to everyone else behind the scenes that helps me out in any way they can. I truly am grateful.

But there are two very special ladies that have been there through every single book. The first, my friend that I have come to rely on for everything from plot lines, to talking things through when I just can’t think anymore, to proofreading. You’ve been the greatest friend I could ever ask for and I’m so grateful to have you in my life. The second, my editor, without her humor and speedy work, I may not have been able to put out some of these books.

I can’t wait to close out this series with a few more fantastic stories. I hope you will be there with me, and join me when I start The Cortell Brothers.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  CHAPTER ONE

  Maggie

I ran hard, pushing through the back door as I heard pots and pans crashing to the floor. I tripped over the kids’ bikes, falling hard on the ground and scraping my hands on the pavement. Panic flared through me. He was going to get me. I pushed to my feet and raced around the side of the house. We built our house just a half mile from the Reed Security building, but I didn’t stand a chance of getting there without him catching me. Kids were everywhere outside, walking around in their costumes, stopping at the other houses that had been built on the compound. None of them had a clue that there was a madman on the loose.

I quickly looked behind me, my eyes widening in fear when I saw him just steps from me. Putting on a burst of speed
, I ran to the front of the house. If I could just get to my nightstand. I didn’t want anyone else to get involved.

I flung the front door open, and ran through the house to the stairs. Taking them two at a time, I rushed up the steps and burst through my bedroom door, slamming it behind me. There was no time to find something to shove in front of it. I raced over to my nightstand and pulled out my gun just as the door burst open.

I swung around, taking aim, but he was too fast. He tackled me to the bed, ripping the gun from my hands. He tossed it across the room and then ripped my white t-shirt from my body. My breasts spilled out for him to touch. I hadn’t put on a bra today. I tried to fight him, but he was relentless, shoving his hands all over me. When they slid down my body, I knew I didn’t stand a chance.

  “Tell me you want me.”

  “Never!”

He snatched both my hands in his and held them above his head. Reaching from behind him, he pulled several zip ties and tied my wrists to the bedpost.

“You won’t get away with this! None of them will let you get away with this!”

“You’ve always been mine. They all know it.”

“I won’t let you do this!”

I flung my knee up, trying to distract him enough in one last ditch effort. I screamed as loud as I could, hoping that someone would hear me. He slammed his mouth down on mine as his hands ripped the sweatpants from my body. I struggled, trying to get away, but he was too strong. He always had been.

My panties were ripped from my body and then he was there, just at my entrance. If he did this, there was no going back. I struggled, wiggling away as best I could, but then he was inside me and the fire that started was unstoppable. I tried not to want him. I tried to fight him off, but he knew exactly what he was doing.

Pounding on the steps didn’t even distract me from the orgasm that was taking over my body. What would they think? I didn’t have time to consider it as a herd of hulking men burst into my bedroom, guns drawn and murder written on their faces. I couldn’t even cover myself up.

“What the fuck is going on here?” Sinner shouted.

Sebastian turned to them with a grin. “Hopefully, I’m impregnating her again.”

“She was screaming like she was being murdered,” Cazzo said angrily. “What the fuck did you do?”

  “Nothing she didn’t want.”

“That’s bullshit,” I spat at him. “I told you I didn’t want any more kids!”

“And I told you that I wasn’t done with you yet,” he grinned.

I was fuming outside, but inside, I was melting into a pool of lust. The man drove me crazy, but my body just couldn’t say no to him. He was going to have to stop eventually. Maybe menopause would come early.

“I don’t suppose you want to cover me up now?” I snapped.

Sebastian sighed and tossed a blanket over me. “It’s a shame. I love seeing you naked.”

“Yeah, well, our wives are gonna kill us if they find out what we walked in on,” Jackson grumbled.

“What did you do, anyway? It looks like you chased her through the whole fucking house,” Sinner said.

Sebastian shrugged. “Hey, it’s Halloween. I was playing out a little fantasy I had.”

“Fucking great,” Cazzo groaned. “Don’t we have enough fantasy shit to deal with already? Thank fuck Claire isn’t here.”

A knocking had me craning my neck to see around the guys. And I went red.

“Uh, I got a call,” Sean said. “Someone called in screams. Is everything alright here or should I have the police officers downstairs come on up?”

I kicked Sebastian in the balls when he grinned. Sometimes he could be such an ass.

  CHAPTER TWO

  Ryan

“Tell me again why we’re following our wives through Walmart,” I said to Knight, Cole, and Jack.

“To keep them safe,” Knight grunted out.

  “Safe from what exactly?”

  “Threats,” Cole said sharply.

I looked around at the normal people wandering around and wondered what the fuck he thought would happen in this fucking store, in the middle of nowhere.

  “I don’t get it.”

“That’s because you’ve never seen your woman in danger before,” Knight growled.

“Okay, first, my wife died. I know all about danger. But this is a fucking grocery store. Second, if Lola was in danger, you really think I could save her?”

Jack slapped me on the back as we stood staring at the women debating over which turkey to buy. “Hey, I’m only here to keep Harper from getting arrested again. Sean would kick my ass if he had to try and talk his boss out of having her arrested again.”

“Why did all four of them need to come?” Cole asked. “Alex doesn’t even like coming out in public. I’m shocked that she even agreed to this.”

“Harper likes a big feast, and apparently, this year she wanted help putting it on. She didn’t want anything to go wrong.”

“Yeah, but it goes wrong because of her,” I pointed out.

Jack shrugged. “Why don’t you go tell her that and see what happens.”

“That’s okay. I already deal with Lola.” I stood there looking at her, trying to figure out what was different, but I just couldn’t put my finger on it. She was happy at home and happy with her job, but there was something different. “Hey, Knight, do you notice anything different about Lola?”

  “Like what?”

“I don’t know. I can’t put my finger on it.”

He looked at her, assessing her for a moment before he turned to me with a blank stare. “She’s pregnant.”

“What? Why would you say that?”

  “Because she is.”

“You’ve already said that, but how do you know?”

  “Because I know these things.”

“Right, so if I told you that Kate was pregnant, you would be able to look at her and just know.”

“Of course.” He turned and looked at Kate again and then his jaw hardened and he stormed over to her. “When were you going to tell me?”

  “Tell you what?” Kate asked.

  “That you’re pregnant!”

Everyone walking around us stopped and stared at the scene before us. Kate was blushing bright red and glaring at Knight.

“Can we talk about this later?” Kate pleaded.

“Holy shit,” I said in wonderment. “How did he do that?”

“Because he’s Knight,” Cole responded. I looked over to Lola and shook my head in disbelief. If he was right about Kate, that meant…I swallowed down my disbelief and walked over to Lola, pulling her off to the side.

“When did you find out you’re pregnant?”

She looked around, laughing lightly. “What are you talking about?”

“Knight just said that he could tell you were pregnant, and then he looked at Kate and stormed over to her. Kate didn’t deny it.”

“Look, I was going to tell you.”

“When?” There was no heat behind my question. I was just so fucking baffled. I thought we were done having kids. Lola never even wanted kids and now we were on our third. Not that I wasn’t happy. Having a big family was always something I wanted.

“I wanted to tell you at Christmas.”

“Christmas!” I shouted. Lola grinned at me slightly. “It was going to be a surprise.”

“That’s the type of surprise that you give family at Christmas. Not your husband.”

Jack clapped me on the shoulder, grinning like a fool. “Congrats, man. This is great. James is gonna be thrilled at having another sibling.”

“It’s time to leave,” Knight growled.

“No,” Kate said, yanking her arm out of Knight’s grip. “We have shopping to do. Why don’t you guys pick out the decorations?”

Knight reached over and grabbed a stack of paper plates off an end display and tossed them in the cart. “There, decorations are taken care of. Let’s go.”

  “I’m not
going anywhere until we’ve finished shopping for Thanksgiving,” Kate snapped.

“Let Lola do it. She can kick anyone’s ass that comes near her. Ryan doesn’t even need to be here.”

  “Thanks, man.”

“I’m not leaving, so you can go over there and do your stalker thing until I’m done.”

Knight glared at her, but Kate refused to give in. He took a step back and Kate rolled her eyes. Turning back to the turkey they were assessing, we were all shut out again.

“You know you’re gonna have to step up security now,” Cole said in a low, deadly voice.

“I know,” Knight growled. “I need to get a doctor on my payroll for over Christmas.”

“Why?” I asked stupidly. I really didn’t understand what this was all about. Knight turned to me, his face deadly and I swallowed hard.

“Because everyone wants to be with their families at Christmas, including doctors. Which means if Kate has an emergency, she’s left with the waiting room at the hospital. And that’s just not fucking good enough. I need a doctor that will be there the minute I call and haul ass to get to her.”

I looked over at Lola, concerned that I had been way too lax with her last two pregnancies. “Do you think I need to do the same for Lola?”

Knight stepped into my space, his large body making me feel like a puny kid. “Do you love her?”

  “Of course.”

“Then why the fuck are you asking?”

His eyes flicked back to the girls and he was on the move, following them down the next aisle. Cole walked past me and smacked me on the back of the head.
