Katie's stomach caved in. "Axel?"
Axel let out a wail. It was ear-splitting
She's alive. Katie didn't know how, but Axel had survived.
Yet, fear gnawed at her insides. Axel had nothing protecting her head. She could have brain damage or any number of injuries.
Brett nudged her. Michael was slumped against him, still out cold. "Everything is going to be okay."
Katie nodded.
She desperately hoped so.
Epilogue
AERIC HAD NO CHOICE but to withdraw the powers he'd given Katie. She was leaving for Netherium. She had rejected the mission.
However, he left her with remote touch abilities, her original superpower.
Her rejection of his call to greatness was disappointing, but hope wasn't lost. Katie hadn't possessed the staying power Aeric had hoped she would, but another would rise up.
Axel possessed her mother's heart to see good triumph over evil. But where her mother would rather give up than endanger the people she loved, Axel possessed the stubbornness of her father. If she managed to maintain her focus on the mission, she would be formidable.
She would have the potential to defeat Djall.
