“That’s understandable. I really hope she finds peace in everything.”
“Let’s hope. My dad has done quite the number on all of us. It’s still going to hurt, but we have to move on with our lives.”
“Do you think she’ll take him back?”
I gave a frustrated sigh, hoping she doesn’t, but with their history, no one knows what will happen.
“He did try to call me while the ceremony was going. I ignored it.”
“You know he’ll try to contact you again.”
“I know, but I meant what I said. I don’t want anything to do with him. Not now and not ever.”
Morgan nodded and I took his hand. It was time to stop talking about our family issues and focus on us.
“I thought we were going to stop talking about our family’s mess. Shouldn’t we be focusing on our happy, normal life and our future?”
Morgan laughed. “Let’s just hope we can get through today as being happy and normal.”
I laughed too. “I know that’s right. If we can do that, then I’m sure we can do it on a regular basis.”
We walked onto the dance floor and Morgan put me in his arms. I gave a content sigh; glad that I could share this moment with him. If nothing else goes right in this world, just being in his arms is all I needed.
“I can’t help but to think about all we have been through. From the time we were kids to when we sort of made things official.”
“Which time was that? That night after the Kappa party or when you said you’ll fight for me?”
Morgan smiled. “I always thought the night in your room was when we made things official.”
“I don’t know. You were being kind of a wuss then.”
“Seriously?”
“You left me after the deed was done.”
“Like I wanted to, I just didn’t want you to be caught up in my shit.”
“Which I can understand. But regardless, I would have still been with you. I prove that, didn’t I?”
“You certainly did. Thank you.”
I tilted my head. “For what?”
“For loving me and never giving up on me; I always knew you were special before, but it just goes to show how magnificent you are. No matter what else happens with us, just know that my love for you will never change.”
I smiled. “I feel the same way about you. I love you, Morgan.”
“I love you too, Hales.”
We continued to dance as if we were the only two on the dance floor. When I first saw Morgan, even at five years old, I knew he was my soulmate. We have survived so much together, which made me realize that he is the real deal. He will always be the love of my life and I will go to the ends of the earth for him, just like he will for me.
We may wish to live a normal life, but who can really say that their lives are normal? No matter what, I’m just happy to have him, our son, and the rest of our family by our side. Just knowing that, I know that our life is just right.
