Making Magic
Welcome to Making Magic, a little section at the end of the book where I can give readers a glimpse at what I do. It’s not edited and my launch team doesn’t read it because it’s kind of a last minute thing. Therefore typos will surely follow.
Story is character. Period. Full stop. So why pick a traitor from the first book in the series to feature as my new hero? Because we all begin as something else.
Even in the first book, it was clear to me that Evander had backstory. A character like him doesn’t just jump onto the page fully formed. A forceful and opinionated personality is forged in the past. Be it mostly genetics or mostly environment, we’re all shaped by where we came from. That seemed doubly true for Evander, and I knew I had to dig in and find out how and why.
You’ve just finished reading the book so I won’t get into the details, but the bird’s-eye view is this: I want to believe that we’re all capable of change. If Evander and Rachel can manage it, I think there’s hope for us too. :) And if love is the great motivator, so much the better.
I know some readers were nervous after seeing the title of this book when it was put on pre-order. But I hope I’ve allayed your worries and that you enjoyed seeing these two people transform. I’m pretty glad to see them join our clan of immortal couples after really earning their place in that growing family. I hope you’re glad too!
Thank you for reading, thank you for reviewing, and I’ll see you between the covers soon.
XOXO,
Hazel
