La Fleur de Love: The Series: Books 1 - 4 Page 133

by Leger, Lori

  Julia glanced at her husband.

His face broke into that sexy grin every McAllister male seemed to have mastered. “Say the word, Babe.”

She grabbed his hand and headed for the hallway. Hearing Red’s chuckle and a call out of “You’re welcome,” she stopped short. “Chad, wait.”

She rushed back to her brother-in-law and threw her arms around his waist for a big hug. “Thanks, Red. You know you’ll always be my favorite.” She gave him a kiss on the cheek then grabbed her husband’s hand again as they hurried to the end of the hallway.

Annie approached Red from behind, followed by other curious family members. “Did it work?”

“I believe so.” He beamed, looking rather pleased with the outcome.

Annie clapped her hands and turned to her husband for a hug. “Now I feel as though we can go on our honeymoon and not stress over anything.” She beamed at her mother, who suddenly looked as though she had something important to say. “Are you okay, Mom?”

Vivienne smiled, placing a hand on either side of Annie’s face. “I want you to be so happy, Annie Nicole.”

Annie nodded. “I am, Mom. You’ve always set a wonderful example for us and if my marriage is half as happy as yours and Daddy’s turned out, it’ll be a success.”

Vivienne hugged her tightly, then turned to her newest son-in-law. “Welcome to the family, Son.”

“Thanks, Mom. Does that mean I’m privy to when you bake one of those coconut cakes again?”

Vivienne placed her hand on his cheek. “Anytime you want one, sweetie, you just say the word.”

He barely managed a quick “Will do,” before Annie pulled her husband onto the dance floor for another slow song, this time the country band’s own rendition of an old Lionel Ritchie song, Stuck on You. She practically purred with satisfaction as he wrapped his arms around her.

Drake gave her a soft, lingering kiss before speaking. “It’s like I told you on Christmas Day at Red and Tiffany’s ranch. You’re stuck with me, Annie Girl. Come hell or high water.”

Annie beamed at her new husband. “You should have put money on it, counselor.”

  “You’re right, I should’ve.”

“And now, I’ve got you exactly where I want you.” She looped her arms around his neck, rose on her tiptoes for another heated kiss from the man who’d convinced her to take one last gamble on love. She’d bet her entire pile of M&M’s on one hand, and walked away a winner.

Annie pulled back far enough to get a good look at Drake’s chocolate brown eyes.

Mm-mm. Her kind of heaven … for sure.

Thank you so much for letting me share Annie and Drake’s story with you. Please consider leaving me a review at your favorite e-book retailer and/or Goodreads. Reviews are a writer’s best friend. Even the bad ones if they’re constructive. Merci beaucoup! (Thank you, very much!)

  About the Author

LORI LEGER is a wife, mother, doting grandmother, and Mistress of Procrastination. She lives in Louisiana with the love of her life, her very own Studley-do-Right. He’s earned his spot in the Keeper Husband’s Hall of Fame by allowing her to walk away from an eighteen year career as an Engineering Technician in Road Design to stay home and write.

She adores writing stories set in her beloved south Louisiana, where good Cajun cooking, helping your neighbors, and saying y’all is as normal as hurricanes, heat, and humidity. She figures as long as she’s not tunneling through ten feet of snow to get to her car, it’s a perfectly acceptable trade-off.

Lori has ten full-length novels published in three series: La Fleur de Love and its spin-off, Halos & Horns series, and a Prime of Love Series, dedicated to more mature characters finding love and laughter. She has also contributed to, as well as published, short stories in each of the five Seasons of Love anthologies, an author collaboration series. She wrote her newest novella, Christmas 911, for the Criminal Christmas box set in November of 2015. She’s currently rewriting it as a full-size novel for submission, and has contributed to the Sweet & Savory Cookbook of Authors, published by Top Ten Press. Lori also has an article published in the non-fiction book Writing After Retirement: Tips From Retired Writers, published by Rowman and Littlefield Publishers, and edited and compiled by Carol Smallwood and Christine Redman-Waldeyer.
