  “Amira…Amira.”

She shook herself. Nick’s sweet eyes were staring at her, almost in a panic. Did he think she would refuse him? Before the final step, she had to discover the limits of his love.

“What about the curse? What if it can’t be broken?”

Nick’s lower jaw stiffened and his grip tightened unconsciously. “I believe in me and I am determined to find the answer. But, if not, then we’ll just be the hottest couple on the block…who never officially consummate their marriage.”

Her heart thudded. He loved her deeply and truly. Nick was willing to give up the ultimate pleasure for her.

Placing both hands on his face, she said softly, “I would love to be your wife.”

They were suddenly thrown apart by an electric charge. Amira slumped into the chair. It was as if a bolt of lightning had run through her body. She glanced up. Nick was bent over and gripping his stomach with his arms.

“Amira, what just happened?” He moved slowly, painfully, and grasped her hands again.

A flash of brilliant white light erupted between them, throwing their bodies apart again. It was so powerful Amira was blinded for several seconds. Blinking back tears, she sucked in a breath when her vision cleared. A tall, imposing figure seemed to fill the room. It was Hadji.

She had only seen him once—when she was cursed into an eternity as a djinn. That one time was more than enough for her. Being in the King’s presence was terrifying.

“Amira,” the soul-jolting voice boomed. He pointed toward her. The force of his magic crackled in his fingertips. “My daughter,” he hesitated, then sighed. “No more.”

Not knowing what to say, she slid to her knees and awaited Hadji’s words. Did he mean that the curse had been lifted or that he was about to banish her into a netherworld?

“Is this what you wish, my child?”

For a few seconds, she was stunned by his question. He was talking about the djinn curse. What creature in their right mind would chose to remain a servant for eternity? Then she recognized that it was but a ritualistic question. Taking a deep, quivering breath, she realized she was not being condemned into nothingness, but about to be given her freedom.

“Yes, with all my heart, great Hadji.”

The powerful djinn simply nodded, then clapped his hands twice. Amira’s ears rang with the force of his claps as the bright light flashed once more. The King of the djinn disappeared as quickly and magnificently as he had appeared.

She shivered, slid shakily back up into her chair, and then sat upright and glanced at Nick. He had sat in shock and silence while Hadji appeared. Probably that was for the best. The djinn King would not look kindly on being questioned by a mortal.

“Are you all right?” At his nod, she smiled—a smile that lit up the room, so great was her happiness. “You have done it, my love—broken the curse.”

He shuddered and seemed to come out of the bemused state he had been in. “No,” he stated in disbelief, his eyes traveling her body up and down. They came back to her face. “Yes, it’s true…I don’t feel the shimmer of power that always seemed to surround you.”

She nodded, her body still numb with shock.

His eyes went to the spot where the great djinn had materialized. “That was Hadji?”

  “Yes,” her voice trembled.

“You are no longer a genie,” he stated, waiting for her nod. “You are mine alone.”

Nick stood up and pulled her up with him. Grabbing her in his arms, he spun around several times.

  “I’m getting dizzy.”

He laughed and halted the whirling dance. “You’ve kept me dizzy from the moment I set eyes on you.” Nick captured her mouth in a deep, warm kiss.

Pulling back, he exclaimed, “I forgot.” Bending over, he retrieved the box which had fallen to the floor. Opening it, he held it out toward her.

Amira held her breath. It was spectacular—a brilliant, round solitaire diamond ring.

“It’s two carats. I hope it’s big enough.”

She chuckled and held out her left hand. “Plenty big enough.”

Nick slipped the ring on her finger. She stared at it, mesmerized by its flawless beauty and overwhelmed by the change in her life within just a few moments of time.

  “What now?” she asked uncertainly.

He pulled her into his arms again. “Oh, we’ll discuss wedding plans and such later. But right now I want to make love to the woman who stole my heart.”

She blushed. Nick was talking about consummating their lovemaking.

He tugged at her T-shirt feverishly, almost ripping it as he helped her pull it off. She undid her jeans while he flung his shirt off, then pushed his pants down. They were both stripped nude in record time.

When she started for the bedroom, he grabbed her arm.

“No time for niceties.” Nick captured her lips in a searing kiss and pulled her down to the floor with him. He was atop her and nudged her knees open.

He broke the kiss. “We’ve had plenty of foreplay this week—wouldn’t you agree?”

She nodded, watching the fiery lust flash through his eyes. Amira spread her legs wider as his cock sought her entrance. When he plunged in one long, hard stroke, sheathing himself to the hilt, she moaned.

As he moved, deep in her pussy a heat began to build. She arched her body toward him, seeking more contact, more of his hard cock pounding into her.

Nick breathed raggedly, then kissed her possessively.

Amira rotated her hips, circling her inner walls around his staff.

“You’re so hot, cara,” he groaned.

Her nails raked his back as electrifying sensation ripped through her nerve endings.

  “Amira,” he cried hoarsely.

His cock seemed to grow even bigger inside her. He was close. Her body writhed as the pressure increased between her lower lips. Amira’s arms and legs clung to him in need, as her swollen lips clasped his cock, demanding more.

A rippling wave of orgasms made her pussy spasm and she screamed aloud.

Flinging his head back, Nick gave a guttural cry. Her vagina grasped his cock, greedily milking all his fluid as it convulsed around his hard flesh.

After her panting breaths calmed, she gazed up into Nick’s loving eyes. “Were…you satisfied?”

He chuckled. “Honey, that was the best damn orgasm I’ve ever had.”

She blushed. Probably he was being romantic and overstating his feelings, but she could accept it at face value.

“What about you?” He caressed the hair over one temple.

Taking a deep breath, she released it. “It was magical.”

Nick laughed, a deep, hearty burst of joy. Amira joined him.

  Chapter Thirty-Four

After they made love two more times, they cuddled on the couch.

“Now that you’re mortal, have you thought about what you want to do with your life?”

  “Beside spending it with you?”

  Her quip pleased him.

“This may sound silly…but I’ve always wanted to go to school.”

Nick hesitated before answering. He didn’t want to hurt her feelings, but he just couldn’t see her in a room surrounded by kids. “Did you have any schooling before you were made into a genie?”

“No, but I have studied through the years. I thought perhaps I’d take the GED.”

“Amira, that’s a wonderful idea.” He’d forgotten about her extensive library.

“And then I’d like to go to college.”

He stared at her. College? “Don’t you think that’d be a bit much?”

“Why? Wasn’t your President Lincoln a self-taught man?”

“Yes he was.” He examined her sweet face. She was quite serious. He shrugged. “It’s fine by me, if that’s what you wish to do.” He stroked her cheek. “But, as my wife, you know you won’t have to work—unless you want to.”

She smiled. “I don’t desire to work. I’ve done that for centuri
es.” She stopped when he chuckled. “An education is just something I’ve longed for, dreamed of. Can you understand?”

“Yes, of course I can.” He gave her a quick kiss. “And after college?’

Her golden eyes stared into space. “I want to travel, see the world.”

He hugged her. “We can certainly do that. I have plenty of money and a great vacation package.” Nick nibbled her lips. “I might even start my own business, something I’ve dreamed of doing. That way, I can take off anytime I wish.”

“Oh, Nick, it sounds heavenly.” She hesitated for a few seconds. “And we’ll have many children, too?”

“Anything you wish, my love,” he chuckled.

She stared into space, while twirling the hair on his chest. “Nick, will we be like so many other couples?”

“Of course we’re not—we’re special.” He pulled her into his arms.

“No, I meant…so many people divorce.”

He turned her face upward and kissed her tenderly. “Never. I’ll love you forever.”

  “Forever!”

Amira’s fear shot through his heart. What an idiot. He kissed her again. “I meant, I will love you all the days that we have to live.”

  She sighed. “That sounds lovely.”

“It does at that.” He squeezed her gently to his chest. “You may not believe this, but you’ve brought magic into my life in a way I never expected. And I’m not talking about your genie powers.”

She sighed deeply, moved by his romantic statement. He kissed her thoroughly, seeking to drive all worries from her sweet mind.

When Nick kissed her, Amira realized he filled her with love and magic too, giving her all the things that made life worth living.
