“Georgie!” Callum called out, standing up from the sofa. “About tomorrow.”
“Is there a problem?” Georgie asked, turning back to Callum, giving him a worried look.
“I know I said things,” Callum began, his face flushing with embarrassment. “The other night, I mean. I don’t remember most of them, but I can only guess.”
“You don’t have to explain,” Georgie quickly replied but Callum stopped her.
“No, but I want to,” Callum insisted. “Georgie, you’re a very important person to Macy, and to me. I don’t want you to feel like you can’t talk about my family, or you must avoid them.”
“I… I don’t,” Georgie assured him, but he knew that she wasn’t being honest with him.
“Then why won’t you come with us tomorrow?” He had the words out before he thought about them.
“Because I… I just think it’s best if I don’t go,” Georgie replied, her face burning with embarrassment.
“Because I acted like an asshole the other night,” Callum sighed, giving her a nervous smile. “Over Liam.”
“I just don’t want to upset you anymore,” Georgie replied honestly. “I like you, Callum. I like working here, and I love Macy. I don’t want anything to come in the way of that.”
“Then come with us,” Callum pleaded. “I promise. I’ll behave; I give you my word.”
“Callum, I don’t know…” she replied, shaking her head nervously.
“Please,” Callum pushed. “Tomorrow is about family, so you should be there.”
She stared at him for a moment, and he knew she was torn.
Finally, she released a long sigh, as a smile slowly filled her face.
“Okay,” she said, giving Callum a nervous smile.
“Thank you, Georgie,” Callum replied, unable to hide just how happy she had made him.
“Good night, Callum,” Georgie said once more as she turned back towards the stairs.
“Good night, Georgie,” Callum replied with another smile. “Sweet dreams.”
Callum stood and watched Georgie as she climbed the stairs. He was surprised by how happy he felt by her agreeing to go with him and Macy to Landen’s. Now he just needed to stop over-thinking, and keep his emotions in check.
Chapter 16
Georgie
Callum pressed his lips to the soft skin of Georgie’s stomach as her body trembled with desire. His warm breath washing over her body felt so good, Georgie knew she would cum soon.
“You smell so good,” he whispered breathlessly against her skin. “God, you’re intoxicating.”
Georgie reached down, running her fingers through his thick, wavy hair. As he moved further down her body, kissing and biting gently as he did. Finally, his fingers found her warm centre. Callum didn’t hesitate, he slipped his fingers between her sensitive folds, pushing one, then another deep inside her.
“CALLUM!” She cried out as she threw her head back, her hips lifting up from the bed, longing to find her release. This was unlike anything she had ever felt before. She pinched her eyes closed as her orgasm built inside her.
“Come for me, Georgie,” he growled against her body as she grabbed the bedclothes beneath her. “Georgie…”
“GEORGIE!” Macy’s voice broke into Georgie’s dream, waking her with a start. “Georgie wake up.”
“Macy!” Georgie exclaimed breathlessly as she sprung up in her bed. “Hey, Sweetie. Are…are you okay?”
“I’m hungry,” Macy said, giving Georgie a strange look. Georgie looked at her watch and was surprised to see it was already after eight. She looked over at her alarm on her nightstand, wondering why it hadn’t sounded at seven thirty like always.
“You’re hungry,” Georgie laughed, reaching out, pulling the little girl up onto the bed, and into her lap as Macy squealed. “And what do you want to eat?”
“Pancakes,” Macy giggled.
“You got it,” Georgie replied, kissing Macy on the cheek before she released her from her embrace. Georgie left Macy sitting on her bed, while she hurried into her bathroom. Georgie quickly stripped and climbed into the shower.
As she stood beneath the hot water, she thought about her dream.
What the fuck was that? She thought to herself.
She would have been lying if she didn’t admit that she hadn’t found herself thinking about Callum more, since the night he kissed her in the kitchen.
When he had asked if she liked Liam, she knew he was jealous, but he had no reason to be. She liked Liam, of course, she did. And yes, he was hot. She just didn’t feel that way about him. He was too immature, she didn’t mind taking care of kids, but she didn’t want to date one.
Still, part of her liked that he was jealous.
Part of her liked Callum, how could she not? But she had never considered something between him and her. She loved Macy too much to mess it up. Besides, after Shane, Georgie knew she needed time to get her head straight, so she hadn’t entertained any thoughts that crossed her mind.
That’s why she had no idea where the dream had come from.
You need to put it out of your mind; she sighed as she switched off the water. She needed to get back out to Macy.
Stepping out of the shower, she reached for a towel and wrapped it around herself.
“Shit!” she grumbled, realising that in her post-sex dream haze, she had come to the bathroom without her clean clothes. She secured the towel around herself and reached for the door.
“Sorry, Mace,” she began to say as she hurried out into the bedroom. “I won’t be…CALLUM!
Georgie froze when she saw him standing in her room. Instinctively she held her towel tighter, as her heart hammered in her chest. He stared at her for a moment, looking as shocked as she was.
“OH GOD!” Callum finally exclaimed as he quickly turned his back to her. “I’m so sorry. I swear I wasn’t snooping. The door was opened, and I was passing by. I saw Macy playing with your make-up, I just wanted to…”
“It’s grand,” Georgie replied, with a nervous giggle, realising he was probably more mortified that she was.
“I don’t know what that means,” Callum replied, and Georgie couldn’t help but laugh harder.
“It means it’s okay,” Georgie explained, with a smile. “It’s an Irish thing.”
“It’s grand, Daddy,” Macy repeated, she too looked up at Callum.
“Oh, okay,” Callum replied, and Georgie could hear him relax a little. “I… I should leave you to get dressed.”
“Thank you,” Georgie replied, still smiling to herself.
“Come on, Macy,” Callum said, holding his hand out to his daughter. “Let’s go start breakfast.”
“But Georgie said I could have pancakes,” Macy pouted, as she crossed her arms, giving Callum an unimpressed look.
“How about Daddy makes you some?” Callum offered, and Georgie couldn’t help but laugh at the skeptical look on Macy’s face. Callum half glanced over his shoulder at Georgie but stopped when he clearly remembered she was still naked. “Thanks for the vote of confidence; from both of you.”
“I’m sorry,” Georgie laughed, unable to hold the laughter back. “I wasn’t laughing at you; it was her face.”
Callum chuckled too, holding out his hand to Macy once more.
“Come on, Peanut,” he said, and Georgie could hear the smile in his voice. “Let’s get started. If Daddy messes up, maybe Georgie will come down and help me.”
“Give me ten minutes,” Georgie replied, still smiling.
“Cool,” Callum said, as Macy walked to him, taking his hand before Callum led her from Georgie’s room.
Georgie quickly got dressed, as she continued to smile to herself. She was glad that she and Callum had finally been able to put Saturday night behind them. She just needed to forget about her dream too, and everything would be perfect.
Ten minutes later, she hurried down into the kitchen, resisting the urge she had to laugh when she walked into th
e kitchen and smelt something burning.
“You want some help?” She asked as she watched what Callum was doing.
“Nope,” he said, turning and giving her a proud smile. “I burnt the first one, but I think I’ve got it sorted now.”
“Very good,” Georgie replied with a smile, as she glanced over at a less than convinced Macy.
Eventually, after a couple more burning issues, Callum finally got his groove, and soon they were all sitting down to breakfast.
As Callum pulled the car to a stop, he glanced over at her.
“Are you okay?” He asked as Georgie turned to look at him.
“Yeah,” she replied with a smile, trying to seem happier than she was feeling. She wasn’t sure why, but something deep inside her told her that today was a bad idea. “I’m gra… I’m fine.”
“Okay,” Callum replied with a bright smile, but she knew he was less than convinced.
Climbing out of the car, Georgie looked up at the early afternoon sun. It was only just midday, and already it was so hot out. Even after a year of living in San Francisco, she still wasn’t used to the heat.
“It’s gonna be a hot one today,” Callum said suddenly from beside her. “I think everyone is going to be heading for the pool today.”
“Yeah,” Georgie said, as she turned to Callum and smiled at him, before she pulled open the door to take Macy out of her car seat. Callum walked to the back of the car, opening the trunk, pulling out their bags.
“Let me help you with those,” Georgie said as he slammed the car closed once more.
“I’ve got them,” Callum assured her with a smile before he led her and Macy up the steps to Landen’s front door.
As she stood there, she glanced down at her dress and sighed inwardly. She had chosen a white summer dress and a pair of nude sandals. She had also decided once more to tie her hair back, and she removed the earring from her ears. She didn’t know why, but she wanted to make a good impression on Callum’s family. They all seemed so nice, but they were from a different world to her, and Georgie just didn’t know that she fit in.
“You look very pretty,” Callum said, suddenly as if he was reading her mind. Georgie looked up and smiled.
“Thank you,” she replied, unable to hold back her smile.
“Just be you,” Callum continued, confirming he sensed her uncertainty. “You’re pretty amazing as you are.”
Georgie smiled but before she could answer, the door opened, and Landen appeared in front of them
“Hey, you made it,” he said, almost sounding like he half expected them not to turn up. Georgie wondered if Callum had said something to Landen.
They stepped into the house, as Landen shook Callum’s hand and gave him a half hug. Then he turned to Georgie and kissed her on the cheek.
“Lovely to see you again, Georgie,” Landen said, giving her a warm smile. “You’re very welcome.”
“Thanks,” she replied, but before she could say anything else, Macy squealed from beside her.
“LIAM!” She cried, as she hurried past Landen without saying hello.
“Hey, Macy Cakes!” Liam exclaimed, as he scooped Macy up into his arms, giving her a warm hug. “Finally, the main girl is here; now the party can get started.”
“Charming,” Landen said with a laugh. “I didn’t even get a hello.”
“That’s because all the girls love me more,” Liam laughed, before blowing a raspberry on Macy’s face, making her squeal once more. Finally, his eyes met Georgie’s, and his smile widened. “Hey, Georgie. Are you still hanging out with this loser?”
“Hi Liam,” she replied, with a nervous smile as she stole a glance at Callum. His face was completely unreadable.
“Georgie and I are going to swim in the pool,” Macy told Liam looking up into his eyes, and smiling brightly. “We’re going to splash you.”
“Not if I splash you first,” Liam laughed, then looked at Georgie once more. “But if Macy tries to drown me, will you rescue me, Georgie?”
“Okay, Liam,” Landen said impatiently, almost surprising Georgie with the tone of his voice. She looked at him and caught a glance between him and Callum that she didn’t understand. Suddenly she felt very uncomfortable. “How about we move this party outside, where everyone else is.”
Liam turned and made his way back into the house, followed closely by Landen. She glanced at Callum once more, and her heart sank when he didn’t even look at her.
This was a mistake, she thought to herself, feeling like she wanted to cry. I should have never come here.
She followed Callum through the house, as her heart hammered in her chest. She tried to calm her breathing down before she stepped out onto the patio where everyone else was waiting for them.
Everyone stood up to greet her, as she smiled and said all the right things, but inside she just wanted to turn around and leave. She glanced over at Callum once more, but still, he wouldn’t look at her.
“I love your dress,” Emmy said as she hugged Georgie. “You look amazing today.”
“Thanks,” Georgie said, but her voice cracked and the look on Emmy’s face told Georgie that Emmy knew she was upset.
“Georgie,” Amelia said from behind her. Georgie turned around to face her, and standing next to her was a pretty redhead, with a bright smile on her face. “You haven’t met Nikki before. Nikki is Landen’s, Ms. Moneypenny. His ass would be lost with her.”
“It’s lovely to meet you, Georgie,” Nikki said holding out her hand to Georgie. Georgie quickly shook it and smiled at the girl. “I’ve heard so much about you. It’s nice to finally meet you in person.”
“You too,” Georgie replied, feeling completely like a fish out of water. “To meet you, I mean.”
“What’s it like to work for Callum?” Nikki asked giving her a cheeky grin. “Isn’t he hot?”
“Pay no attention to her,” Amelia laughed, giving Georgie a smile. “She said the same thing to me when I started working for him.”
“You worked for Callum?” Georgie asked, feeling a little confused.
“Well technically, I worked for Nell,” Amelia explained. “But it was based in Callum’s office, it’s a long and boring story.”
“Oh,” Georgie didn’t know what else to say. She glanced over at Callum. This time he was watching her, but his face was completely blank.
“We need to get this girl a drink,” Nikki said, with a warm smile.
“Actually,” Georgie said, knowing she was about to fall apart. “Can I use your bathroom?”
“Sure,” Amelia said and began to tell her where to go, when Emmy, who had been watching everything, stepped forward.
“It’s okay, Amelia,” Emmy said, giving her a bright smile. “I’ll show Georgie where to go.”
She gave Georgie a reassuring smile, before she led her through the house, and up to the stairs on the second floor.
“There’s one down stairs,” Emmy said, as she reached the door, pushing it open. “But I thought you could use a little more privacy.”
Georgie looked at her in surprise, and to her horror, hot tears pooled in her eyes.
“Come on,” Emmy said, reaching out her hand, before leading her inside. Emmy led her to the bath and sat her down on the edge, before she turned, grabbing some tissues, then sitting down next to Georgie, handing her the tissue.
“Thank you,” Georgie sniffed, as she blew her nose, letting out a deep breath. “I’m just being silly. I’m sorry.”
“You have nothing to be sorry for,” Emmy replied with a smile. “Trust me, the first time I came to dinner with the Murphy’s; well it’s didn’t end very well.”
“Oh!” Georgie said, looking up at the girl.
“But it turned out okay in the end,” Emmy continued, giving Georgie a warm smile. “Want to tell me what has you upset.”
“It’s complicated,” Georgie breathed out, not really sure she could explain what she was feeling inside.
“Oh, I know complic
ated,” Emmy laughed, nodding her head. “Try falling in love with your college professor.”
“Really?” Georgie asked, surprised by how sweet this girl was. She had liked her when she met her at Nell and Sean’s house a few days earlier, but she still hardly knew any of them.
“Oh yeah,” Emmy replied, smiling once more. “Is it Callum?”
“Callum?” Georgie asked, surprised at this girls directness. “What makes you think that?”
“Well for starters,” Emmy giggled. “Your face when Nikki talked about him being hot.”
“It’s not what you think,” Georgie insisted, but she knew that wasn’t strictly true. “I think he’s mad at me, again.”
“Again?” Emmy replied, giving her a question.
“He thinks I like Liam,” Georgie explained, quickly adding. “And I do. Just not how he thinks I do. We had this; I don’t know if you would even call it a fight. He was mad and said things, but then he apologised. He said he wouldn’t be like that again. But then downstairs, Liam was flirting, and Callum was…”
“Jealous?” Emmy offered, finishing her thought.
“I don’t know why he’s like that,” Georgie sighed. “Now he won’t even look at me. I just wish I had stuck to my guns when I said I wasn’t coming today.”
“Georgie,” Emmy said as she took hold of her hand. “Men are assholes. Yes, we may love them, and yes, they can be the sweetest, most caring creatures in the world, but they are still assholes.”
Georgie smiled, but didn’t reply.
“You’ve done nothing wrong here,” Emmy continued. “So, I say, wash your face, take a moment, then come down and show them how awesome you are. Hell, give him something to be jealous about.”
Georgie smiled at Emmy. She knew she was right. She knew this time that she'd done nothing wrong.
“Thanks, Emmy,” Georgie said wiping her nose once more.
“I will go,” Emmy said reaching out and softly rubbing her arms before she stood up. “When you’re ready, you come down, and you show them who they’re messing with.”
Georgie smiled before Emmy turned and left the room, leaving her alone. She walked to the mirror and looked at herself. She smiled as she thought about what Emmy had said.
