“She’s so cold in here,” Sawyer groaned. “It’s like fucking a pretty Popsicle.”
She meant to laugh, but her jittery body felt weak and defeated, only permitting her an amused smile at best.
Doc licked her anus twice. “She tastes like ginger. My sweet, devilish cookie.”
She moaned and gave into the invasive tonguing on her anus. Doc got a damp cloth and cleaned up her back entrance before lubing her up. Then the blunt head of his cock knocked at her anus. The whisper of hot male flesh told her that he, too, intended to bareback her.
Kellan stuck some different papers in her face and showed her that Doc had a clean bill of health, the cancer aside.
“Yes, Sir.”
Sawyer steadied her when she flailed at Doc’s entry. His advance was gradual but determined as he crowded out her resistance and packed his beastly endowment deeper into her bowels. She felt so full and conquered. It was an exhilarating rush to be held and vanquished by men who seemed to care for her on some level as equally as they craved her body.
She was still flying high and lost in la-la land while they had their naughty way with her. Her arms were still shackled above her head and they tingled and prickled with the need to be freed, but at least they weren’t numb yet. The chains clinked whenever their thrusts became especially forceful or she wiggled in their arms to escape the mind-altering pleasure.
Kellan sat in a nearby chair and whipped out his dick while he watched. He stroked it lazily as if to give the organ pleasure but not to the extent of finishing.
Her G-spot was probably swollen from the ice and the insistent rubbing from Sawyer’s cock. The pressure sent her over, and she convulsed in their arms. They held her up and kept her sandwiched between their hot, strong bodies. She writhed and quaked on the way down, but they seemed to pace themselves, though with difficulty.
When they finally came she felt the steamy bath of Sawyer’s semen as it shot from him and washed her G-spot. Doc’s load came out fast and hot as he pulsed his seed into the depths of her ass. She felt their cum flow into her and warm her sexually.
Her thighs sweated where they were bracketed around Sawyer’s hips and her legs clung to him for refuge as the men made her theirs. This dreamlike state awakened the she-wolf in her, and the taste of salt on her tongue when she licked Sawyer’s shoulder proved to be too much. Before the possession wore off, her canines dropped and she sank them into his clammy shoulder.
“Son of a bitch!” he hollered as his body tensed with pain.
Mine. All mine.
The flavor of his blood thrilled her, and she lapped it up, sinking her fangs deeper to quench her thirst. It was his life essence and it was hers. Every part of him was hers. She pitied the sorry bitch who tried to take him away from her. She’d die trying.
A growl rumbled in her when someone, presumably Doc, pulled her from the treasured shoulder she chomped on.
A familiar voice shouted in her head, “Jade! What the fuck do you think you’re doing?”
Her eyes popped open and she quickly pulled away from Sawyer’s torn flesh. She knew that voice all too well. It was Bane’s.
“Oh my God, what have I done? Bane, I’m so sorry. Bane? Bane!”
Tears brimmed in her eyes as the men ejected and unchained her.
“What the hell just happened? Woman, what’d you go all Jaws on me for?” Sawyer demanded.
“Shit!” Doc muttered. “She went into subspace and then the mating heat took over. No wonder she caved.”
“Did she just fucking claim me?” Sawyer asked, applying a cloth to his shoulder. A suggestive smile curved his lips. “Well, now, that ain’t so bad. It looks like you’re stuck with us now, kitten.”
“All right!” Kellan sounded excited.
Jade tuned them all out as she tried in vain to contact Bane through their newfound psychic link. “Bane, I’m sorry. I don’t know what came over me. I won’t stay with them, though. I want to be with you. Please talk to me. Oh God, don’t leave me. I need you. Bane!”
He didn’t answer her, and it scared her to death.
Chapter Ten
Bane Kennedy broke into Ivy Covington’s house. He’d driven by a few times to see if she was home, but each time the house looked empty and he couldn’t wait anymore. Time was running out and he had to find out as much as he could about the man hunting down Jade.
Ivy hadn’t acted terribly surprised when Bane mentioned that Jade was in danger. At the time he’d thought nothing of her mild reaction, but in retrospect he found it suspicious.
He searched her house for clues, trying to calm the silent rage and jealousy that bellowed its misery in his head. Jade claimed another man…after he told her not to. Bane wanted to beat her ass for it, and he would once he got back to her. He’d take her away from those devilish cowboys and spank her into next week.
She liked kink and being dominated? He’d give it to her. He was an equality-for-the-man-and-the-woman-in-the-relationship kind of guy, but her blatant disregard for his wishes pissed him off. Now he was going to go all angry-soldier on her.
It infuriated him the way she disobeyed him and then thought a quick apology would fix everything. Well, she was in for a rude awakening. She was sorry? Not yet, she wasn’t.
He noticed that the door to Ivy’s basement had a lock on it. It was a cheap one, and he picked it almost effortlessly. When he flipped on the light and stepped down into the large room he had to stop suddenly in his tracks. It was a laboratory. Ivy was a scientist? Funny, she didn’t look very old, maybe around Jade’s age. Perhaps Ivy had simply done well in school and graduated early with a genius brain. It was possible.
Bane was careful not to knock anything over. He set his bag of weapons down on the floor and had a look around. He noticed a binder and took a peek at it. The scientific notes were over his head for the most part, though he generally considered himself a fairly smart man. They gave details about theories and experiments, but he didn’t have the time or interest to read them all. He flipped through it and then turned back suddenly when something caught his eye. It was a drawing, and if memory served him correctly the sketch of the man resembled the mutant bastard who beat him and Jade to a pulp in the desert recently.
Bane read the notes and found most of it confusing, but he figured he got the gist of it. The muscled asshole’s name was Brutus, and he was apparently Ivy’s creation. Bane read further and realized that he was dealing with a cyborg.
He slammed the book closed when he heard the front door unlock. He put the book away and hid behind some shit. About a minute later a slender brunette stepped down into the basement. It was Ivy.
Should he make his presence known to her? He wanted to question her about Brutus, after all, but Bane wasn’t so sure popping up after breaking into her house was the best way to do it.
She picked up what looked like an address book and put it in her purse, spinning around when a loud thud sounded from upstairs.
“I know you are here, tiny one,” a thunderous voice called out to her. “I have come to violate your innocence.”
Well, that’s to the point and disgusting.
Ivy looked scared to death as she looked around frantically for a suitable place to hide. She found one and dropped under a table, trying to quiet her erratic breathing.
A tall, bulky shadow darkened the doorway, and heavy thuds that were supposed to be footsteps pounded down on the stairs as the cyborg, Brutus, slowly entered the basement. He was decked out in camouflage pants, combat boots, and a black wifebeater that showed off irritatingly thick arms that rippled with veins and brute strength. The shirt looked like it had been painted onto a hard wall of bricks. His strong legs were like marble pillars that had suddenly been given life and could move about freely. Even his rugged, macho face and chiseled jaw pissed Bane off. Was there nothing weak about him?
Fucking bastard.
“I can hear you breathing, my dulcet bedmate. Your fleshy heart is pounding in my head,
” Brutus taunted Ivy as he searched for her. “Do you see my erection straining against my pants? It will stretch and fill you as no one ever has before.”
Ivy swallowed and slowly inched in the direction of the door, but she was a far cry from escaping.
Bane considered shifting and ripping the humanoid’s throat out, but he had a strong feeling being mauled wasn’t enough to stop the powerful giant.
Maybe if he shot the monster. Ah crap, his guns were in the bag across the room. According to Ivy’s notes guns were no match for Brutus.
Maybe an explosion would destroy him. Bane had brought grenades with him. Now he had to reach them.
If he got up to distract Brutus, the behemoth could maim or kill Bane before he ever reached the grenades, and then poor Ivy was doomed to Brutus’s predatory will. Bane decided he’d army-crawl over to his bag for the explosives.
Brutus stalked around the basement, listening in between taunting his intended victim. “Shall we fornicate in my bed or yours, tiny one?”
Ivy put a hand over her mouth and tried to calm herself before crawling toward the door again whenever he spoke.
Brutus’s features tightened with fury, and he brought his large fist down hard onto a table, rattling vials of colorful fluids and petri dishes of lord only knew what. “There is no escape for you, Ivy Covington!”
She jumped and whimpered in fright, looking like she might cry.
Brutus smiled in the creepiest of ways and threw the table she hid under. She screamed and tried to run, but he grabbed her and hurled her onto another table, knocking shit over in the process.
Bane grabbed his bag and unzipped it frantically. Poor girl looked like she might crap herself. He found the grenades.
“Stop! Please!” Ivy pleaded in a weepy tone.
“You are mine!” Brutus yelled.
A ripping sound occurred, and Bane grabbed his gun, horrified that the asshole had torn the poor girl’s shirt open. “Hey!”
Brutus looked over, and Ivy stopped sobbing and gasped when she saw him. “Bane? Run! He’ll kill you!”
Well, that’s flattering for a man’s ego. Run! He’ll kick your ass.
“No, you run!” Bane shouted. He fired off several rounds when Brutus let go of her and approached him fearlessly.
“Guns won’t work! He’s invincible!” Ivy screamed at him, trying to hold her ripped shirt together.
“Ivy, get the fuck out of here!” Bane yelled as he shot the intimidating cyborg some more. “Tell Jade I love her!”
Ivy started to cry again as she took off running. “I’m so sorry!”
She got away and Bane felt better…except for the polar-bear-sized mitts strangling him, but it didn’t matter. He had the grenade in his hand. Maybe he would make it. Then he recalled the silver weapons collection Ivy had on her wall and he knew that this was really the end. If the explosion didn’t kill him, the silver shrapnel would.
“I forgive you, Jade. I want you to stay with them. They’ll take good care of you.”
Damn, the bastard could squeeze. Bane was seeing stars as he pulled the pin.
“Remember me, princess. I love you with all my heart.”
Then he threw the grenade and a blinding flash of light flared up around them. A powerful force threw them as the room became hot and plunged him into darkness.
Chapter Eleven
Jade woke up screaming and flailing in the dark. She was terrified and clammy with sweat. The sheets stuck to her as she struggled to free herself from them. Something had happened to Bane. She didn’t know what, but she saw him fighting for his life in a dream as his vitality seemed to slip away from him.
“I forgive you, Jade. I want you to stay with them. They’ll take good care of you.”
The darkness terrorized her as it smothered her in its shadowy clutches. The damned sheets served as menacing arms that refused to let her go.
“Doc! Kellan!” She screamed for them as tears of fright poured down her face in her futile attempt to get to the door.
“Remember me, princess. I love you with all my heart.”
His words milked the tears from her eyes. “I love you, too. What’s wrong?”
She saw fire in her head and his body flying. Then the warm, pulling bond she felt with him seemed more distant and his voice was cut off. The light in her soul that let her know he was okay wasn’t there anymore. Something had snuffed it out, and she was petrified to know what that meant.
“Sawyer!”
All four men barged into her room and flipped the light on as she finally stumbled out of bed and collided with them near the doorway.
“Baby, what’s wrong?” Kellan held her quivering body and rubbed her back to console her.
Jade went hysterical as she fought for her words. “Something happened to Bane! I think he’s dead!”
Doc touched her face and his countenance was full of genuine concern and tenderness. “Darlin’, calm down. I’m sure he’s okay. It was probably just a nightmare.”
She wailed into her hands. “No, it wasn’t! He was talking to me through our psychic thingy, and then there was this sudden inferno like an explosion, and now I can’t hear him anymore! I think he’s dead!”
Kellan looked worried. “Maybe not. He might have just gotten thrown around a bit.”
She shook her head, drowning in her tears. “No, you don’t understand. I can’t feel him anymore. That deep, spiritual connection that links us is gone. I feel like I’m in a black hole and everything is dark and silent. I can’t shake the feeling. I can’t feel him anymore! Bane’s dead!”
Kellan pulled her into his arms and held her tight. “Don’t cry, baby girl. I’ve got you. If it makes you feel better, you can call him in the morning to make sure he’s okay.”
She pulled away from him and grabbed her cell phone, dialing the numbers like mad. “I’ll do it now.” She waited, but Bane never answered. Her eyes closed as she hung up and set the phone down. “Nothing.”
“Maybe he’s sleeping,” Sawyer suggested.
“Maybe.” She squeaked and her heart ached severely in her chest as the floodgates opened even more. “I don’t think so, Sawyer. I think…he’s gone.”
Kellan and Sawyer came over and held her while she cried her eyes out. They tried to console her, but there was nothing they could do. Bane was gone.
* * * *
Stetson was in hell watching Jade bawl uncontrollably. He hated to see her suffering to this extent, but something inside him died when he met Doc’s pale-green eyes and saw the shadow of death on his best friend’s face. The sand on the hourglass of his life was running out. Doc was dying, and Stetson couldn’t cope with the overwhelming ache in his chest.
Years of denial and suppressing his feelings finally spilled over. He’d told himself repeatedly that there was nothing there, but deep down he’d always known it wasn’t true.
His tormentors had somehow been aware of his feelings for Doc long before Stetson had. They’d turned what might have been into something sickening and perverse.
Their friendship, while still close, had never been the same after that black night. Stetson was cautious and guarded. He’d finally convinced himself that those monsters had been wrong about his feelings for Doc, but even smothered truths couldn’t be denied.
Seeing his best friend here now, pale and thin, Stetson couldn’t deny the truth any longer. He loved Doc, probably had for years without realizing it. What he couldn’t understand was how he could have been so blind in regard to something that was far stronger than anything he’d ever felt for anyone else.
Then again the ugliness of the past might have had something to do with it. They’d distorted his understanding of everything—love, hate, lust, good, and evil. He could no longer define any of those things without blurring their meanings together into one familiar emotion that accompanied him every day of his life. Rage.
But somehow when he looked at Doc just now, wrath and agony subsided for a brief window in t
ime and he knew what love was.
Jade’s black-hole bit mirrored his own feelings for Doc perfectly. As Stetson watched Jade fall apart in his brother’s arms he knew he’d be just like her after Doc was gone. The unconscionable thought choked him up inside.
Doc’s lips parted and his eyes widened slightly in surprise when he held Stetson’s gaze. The astonished look changed suddenly to one of affection and desire.
Stetson grimaced, realizing he’d just unwittingly betrayed too much to Doc. He turned and walked out of the room to flee Doc’s somehow knowing gaze.
Stetson went into his bedroom and shut the door. He stood in the center of the room, hearing the sound of what he knew were Doc’s footsteps coming to him.
The sorrow crippling Stetson fought with the demons of his past and demanded that he do what he must to save the person who meant the most to him. But his tormentors threatened to resurrect painful memories if he dared to reach out for hope and passion in the arms of the one he loved.
Doc entered his room without knocking. His boldness for once didn’t surprise Stetson. He reluctantly met the man’s gaze, knowing what he would find there. Desire and possibly something more. He couldn’t wallow in denial any longer, though it was certainly safer than being honest with himself.
Stetson watched Doc close the protective distance between them, quivering with each threatening step the blond man took. “Doc, if you touch me I’ll kill you.”
Doc paused as if considering his words, but he disregarded Stetson’s warning and came closer. “I’m going to kiss you, Stetson.”
Stetson shivered and swallowed. If touching Jade awoke the nightmares, letting Doc touch him would absolutely guarantee them. “I meant what I said, Doc. I will kill you.”
“I love you, Stetson,” Doc said with hushed affection.
Stetson’s eyes squeezed shut and he sucked in a suffocating breath of air. The words he’d been dying for were the same words that killed him.
“I love you, baby,” the fiend had said as he violated him. “This is happening. I’m fucking you.”
