Siobhan looked down from above to see herself drifting above the flames, lights flashing all around. The tribe clambered around in confusion, holding their hands against their bleeding ears. All around the stone circle, the dark shapes descended, swooping and flickering like shadows of the fire. The shapes sliced through flesh and bone, blinding and cracking at their bodies. A great wind seemed to drift around the pale-skinned girl, her body electric with fury. Suddenly, she began to move with the dark objects, the twisting images, her quivering body becoming one with their speed.
Siobhan gazed down upon the torment of the heathens, crippling their every pore with the pitch of her lungs. Her scream became the static burst of the clouds, the green swathes of lightning juddering on the moors of the land. The moon itself became lost in the vapor of the Borealis, the land lit up by the flickers and bursts of holy lightning. Those of the tribe that could move did so, crawling into the fire to escape the pain of the moving shadows. The land below seemed to melt away, grass and earth tumbling down the bank until only black ash filled their encampment.
At sunrise, Siobhan awoke to a cloudy morning. The wind howled, but the sky was clear and the strangest blue. The snow of the fallout was far from sight, but the ground was covered in the harshest black. Nothing remained of the place, her memories hazy and unusual. Clambering to her feet, she roamed toward the woodland, the distant hum of static leading her like a lullaby. A distant plane could be seen very far away, letting a jet stream off into the passing clouds. For once, it seemed, she might be home.
