Mom and San San stood off to the side, saying their good-byes.
Lindsey stood off to the other side, snapping photos in the half dark. The flash kept going off like a strobe light. I posed like a ninja, of course, for as many photos as possible. Damon pretended to be a ninja standing next to me. He was good for comic relief sometimes.
In the midst of our photo session, Jesse whispered, “Hey, guys, what’s that up there? Up in the sky? Do you see something?”
Jesse, Lindsey, Damon, and I all looked straight up toward the looming clouds. There was a strange flying object way off in the distance behind a cluster of trees. Was it a plane? It hovered near Nerve Mountain, almost like it was hanging over Leery Castle. Were they birds? It looked a little like a ship.
“I don’t know what that is,” Damon stammered. “But that thing is not from around here!”
“Could it be some kind of UFO?” Lindsey asked.
“Whoa,” Damon blurted.
Before we could take a second look, the mystery object vanished back into the sky.
San San came over. “You four look like you just saw a ghost!” she said.
I shrugged. “Um . . .” I wasn’t sure what to tell her.
“Maybe you four will let me in on your next B-Monster adventure?” she asked.
“Maybe,” I swallowed hard. “As long as it doesn’t involve any eyeballs.”
