There are two more people I want to single out in particular. First, Johannes Klingsby, who inspired a key character in the book. At an auction in support of the charity Musikhjälpen, his winning bid gave him the opportunity to be included in the novel while it also contributed generously to the cause. Bidding against him was Fredrik Danermark, the fiancé of my friend Cecilia Ehrling, whom I met while appearing on the TV show Let’s Dance. Fredrik lost out to Johannes, and he was so disappointed because he had planned to make it a wedding gift to Cecilia. So I decided that, as a wedding present from Simon and me, Cecilia would also have a minor role in the book. My thanks to both Johannes and Cecilia for lending a little extra authenticity and personality to my story.
Next, thanks to all my friends. As usual, I don’t want to mention specific names, because there are so many of you, and you are all so wonderful I would feel terrible if I left out anyone. Yet, as always, I want to give an honourable mention to Denis Rudberg. We may not see each other often, but during my entire writing career you have been only a phone call away, offering me advice that is both wise and insightful. And speaking of insightful advice, I have to mention Mia Törnblom as well. Thanks for all the pep talks!
And now, my beloved Simon. Where should I start? Since I wrote my previous book we have had a lovely daughter, Polly. Our little sunshine and the darling of our entire family. I’ve written this novel during her first year. And that would never have been possible if you weren’t the amazing man that you are. You are my rock. I love you. Thank you for all that you do for me and the children. Thank you for loving us.
