“I only want to be deep inside of you, Helen,” he whispered. I didn’t know if he was committing himself to only me, but I liked the idea. It made me happy. I looked at him hovering over me. His strong glittering chest and abs moved over me. Emerald wings stretched out behind him, making me fully grasp the fact that I was fucking an alien weredragon. It was so taboo and hot, and it only made me feel filthy and naughty. It turned me on more and more, the more that I looked at him. He was a beautiful creature, and I was a human.

Then I felt the familiar feeling building up inside of me again. I was so sensitive that I was already on the brink when he entered me. But now I could not hold back. “Fuck, I’m going to cum again, Jex. I can feel it,” I said.

“Then let go. You are safe with me. Let go.”

“Oh fuck. Yes, yes,” I shouted as I released into orgasm again. He moaned in response as he moved faster and faster. I was so wet, his cock slid in and out of me with ease. I could hear his breathing growing faster and harder. His groans were becoming beastly. The dragon was getting ready to blow. He growled again and again as he moved his hips, swaying them in a rocking motion. His abdomen tensed. He let out a loud growl as he released. I put my hands on his sides, feeling his muscles. His wings spread out behind him, stretching out. Then he stopped moving, and they folded behind him.

His weight collapsed on top of me as we both tried to catch our breath. I was feeling an intense amount of joy filling me. My loins were on fire with the heat of our lovemaking and I was already ready for another round.

  “Jex…”

  “Yes, Helen,” he said breathlessly.

“I am not sure I have fulfilled the agreement yet. I think we have to do that a few more times,” I said.

He looked down at me from towering over me on the bed. “Is that so?”

“Yes. I think it is true. After all, you did risk a lot for me in the agreement. I think it is the least I can do,” I said playfully.

“I think you might be right, human female. But I need to catch my breath. I am still inside of you, finishing off,” he said.

“I just want to give you fair warning that we are not done yet. We are just taking a break,” I said.

“That is understood, Captain,” he said to me playfully.

“Good; then we both understand what is expected of us,” I said.

“Yes. I am expected not to sleep tonight,” he said with a laugh.

“Yes, at least not until sunrise,” I said.

“I think I can keep up with that,” he said.

“I know you can, because you are a dragon,” I said.

He smiled and pulled his cock out of me. Then he came down level with my face and kissed me. He kissed my mouth. He kissed my cheeks. He was admiring every inch of my face with kisses.

When we were done with our break, we went again and again into intense lovemaking rounds. He kept up as promised. I had no doubt that he would.

Hours passed, and even I had finally grown tired. I needed some rest.

I rolled over onto my side and looked at the ceiling of the room. It was a shiny white, and I could almost see our reflection in it.

“How is that? Enough for now? I think the sun is coming up soon,” he asked playfully.

“Yes, that is enough, until tonight,” I said smiling.

“I have a confession to make,” Jex said. I looked at him suspiciously.

“What now? What secret have you been keeping from me now,” I said.

“I have not told you about the euphoria,” he said.

“No, you have not. Tell me; I am intrigued,” I said.

“I am feeling it right now. Having sex with you brings it on. The colors bleed together. I feel an extreme sense of joy and happiness. My body feels alive, and the energy around me feels like it's pulsating,” he said.

“And you do not feel this way with the females on your planet?” I said.

“No, not at all. It is a phenomenon that only happens with the human females. I had only heard of it before, before I was with you. I don't know what it is. None of us do. I only know that I never want it to go away,” he said.

“I don't want it to go away either. I don't want you to go away,” I said looking at him feeling very vulnerable to admit this to him.

“Does that mean you want to be with me?” he asked.

“Yes, as much as I am allowed to. And I don't just mean as long as you stay here in Willow Springs. If you leave, I leave. I want to be with you no matter what,” I said hearing the words out loud. It was true. I did want to be with him. I wanted to be with my sister as well, but something told me that she was on the verge of leaving with her own Veruka.

"If that is what you want, it is what I want to. I am in love with you, Helen. I don't want to be without you,” he said.

“Then we have a new agreement. If you leave, I leave with you,” I said.

“Yes, a new agreement. I promise to never leave you. You are my one and only,” he said.

I rolled on top of his body and kissed him. I wanted to seal the deal of this new agreement with a kiss. I never wanted to let him go, and I never would.

  Epilogue

After that night of lovemaking, everything at Willow Springs changed for the better. General Razook and his men stayed on at Willow Springs, which made my sister very happy. Seeing her happy made me happy as well. But what really helped was that the soldiers were able to build an electrified fence surrounding Willow Springs and two more mansions next to us, which allowed the compound to spread out so that we weren’t on top of each other. Erick was no longer in charge, and even though he was steaming about it, even he could see that the Veruka soldiers were a benefit to us. He went to live in one of the other mansions as far from Jex and I as he could. I think he was thankful for the extra room.

With the help of Jex’s ships, supply runs became easy. It only took one ship and some soldiers to go hop from one abandoned house to another, even as far as into New York City itself. They had gathered a surplus of supplies for us, and it required an entire basement of the mansion to house it. Willow Springs became less tense, and everyone was content. Just as Erick had said, some of the women took to the Veruka soldiers, and it was obvious why. They were attractive and provided safety. But I never told any of them about the bonding of DNA; that was not for me to tell. But there was one human I was able to discuss it with.

“So I assume you have mated with your General Razook?” I told Hannah the next day after the bonfire celebrations when we finally got some alone time together.

“Shhh…” she said looking around as we walked out on the pier.

“No one is around,” I said.

“Yes, I did, and it was awesome!” she said giggling.

“Yes, I bet,” I said. Then she looked at me. “And did you BOND with Captain Kailen?”

“What do you mean by bond?” I asked.

She looked at me suspiciously. “I think you know. Do you know?”

“Do you know?” I asked looking at her not wanting to give it away if she didn’t know. But then again, this was my sister, and maybe I should tell her.

  “The DNA thing?” she asked.

“Yes!” I laughed. “Isn’t it wild?”

“It’s unbelievable. I can’t believe that it is even possible just from having sex,” she said.

“Well, we’ve never had sex with aliens before, so I guess just the fact that there are aliens out there is also unbelievable,” I said.

“True. I never thought we would be overrun by cyborgs,” she said.

“I never thought I would be sleeping with an alien,” I said.

“Not just an alien: a dragon alien!” she said.

“I do love him, Hannah, I really do,” I said getting serious for a moment.

“I know you do. I can see it on your face,” she said.

“And I can sense that you are in love with Razook,” I said.

  “Sense?”

“Yes, our twin intuition. You know
when the supply mission went wrong, I could sense it. I knew that something wasn’t right. It was terrifying for me,” I said.

“I know. I can feel when things are not right with you too. We’ve always had that,” she said.

“Well, now everything is as good as it can be, and I can feel your joy,” I said giving her a big hug.

“Oh, sister, I am so glad to be back with you. I was worried I would never see you again,” she said.

“Me too. Now let’s make the most of our time together. We never know when this will all change again. It happens so quickly,” I said.

“Yes, it does,” she said giving me a sad look.

We walked down the pier to the bank of the bay. We watched as the Veruka soldiers walked around doing their duties and the humans did their chores. It was a strange thing to see, but it made sense. Willow Springs was more secure with the army there. It was good to feel safe for the first time in years.

A year went by after the adventures of the Maven twins. Jex and I were still at Willow Springs. We were not leaving anytime soon. We had a mission: plant the virus in as many keddle as we came across. It was a mission that would take lots of planning and a lot of danger. But we weren’t in it alone.

My sister Hannah eventually left with General Razook. But they were not too far away. General Razook had taken her to a nearby human colony in Vermont with his army. They were doing the same thing: spreading the virus. She was close enough to visit, and I had seen her twice in the year that had gone by. She was very happy, as was I.

But there was more to be happy about than just the safety of the Willow Springs colony; I was pregnant with Jex’s child. This was turning out to be the best relationship I had ever had in my life. It was filled with mutual love, and we were truly bonded. Now, I was going to have his child.

We had officially become husband and wife when his lieutenant married us in an official Veruka ceremony. Now I was truly his, and he was mine. I knew that eventually, I would go with him to Haven Brook when he needed to check in with his king.

Perhaps one day I would even go with him to Tivoso, to a place where cyborgs were not a problem. But there was plenty of time, and I was in no rush. Because we had the agreement in place: the agreement that where he goes, I go. I knew that he would never break that agreement. He loved me, and I loved him, and it kept the agreement a solid bond, just like the bond created between us through my human DNA. It was unbreakable.

  Chapter One

  Sidney

I’m a good listener. So when Karen started screaming, “Run, run, run,” I took off like a bat out of hell.

I didn’t even turn around to see if she was alright.

Instead, I listened to the sounds that were echoing behind me, a ‘THWOOP THWOOP THWOOP’ siren that reverberated through the ground. The sound of the creatures. The aliens.

I hadn’t seen streetlights in so long that they were almost blinding as I ran down the dampened streets of the abandoned city. Snow bit against the ground under the beams of light and quickly dissolved as it hit the pavement.

The backstreets of my old neighborhoods twisted in sudden darkness like a maze. If I could make it to my old house, I would be able to escape through the woodlands behind my backyard. Back to safety.

The vibrations of the aliens who were no doubt still chasing me grew stronger. So strong that I thought I might lose my footing, but then I saw it. My old front door. If I had a moment for my brain to catch up with my sight, I might have cried then. But I just wanted to get into my backyard and hide.

I raced past the old wrought iron fence, a rotting black, and found myself in the middle of the wet back lawn, still covered with heavy rotted fallen leaves, freshly snowed on.

My breath was barreling out of me as I knelt down and pressed my back up against the shed, shaking against the wriggly metal. I heard a loud scream in the distance; down the road maybe. Something foreign. One of them.

I felt my teeth chatter violently and gripped my sidearm, waiting for the beast to come at me.

Make my day, bitch, I thought. But nothing happened.

Then suddenly ice-cold fingers were on my arm, and I flinched back, falling hard against the shed siding.

“Baxley, shit!” I swore and pushed my commander away from me; his black curls and stiff beard looking shiny under the motion-activated lights.

“Where’s Karen?” he said, his gravelly voice difficult to understand when he spoke in a whisper as he did then.

Karen, our lead scientist, was taken by them eight days ago. We being a small group of survivors. The revolutionists who hid and managed to keep out of sight long enough for the aliens to leave us alive; leave us alone, believing there was nothing left of our people. No one left to kill.

And then one day, Karen was gone, and everything changed. Twenty years of hiding all thrown to shit because she had a hunch to test.

Baxley and I went on a mission to get her back, but she didn’t welcome our rescue. Turns out she liked her cage.

“Not here,” I snapped back, pushing Baxley away from me.

“You left her?” the middle-aged man snapped at me, pulling me up and leading me instinctively toward the woods.

“Hey, she told me to run.”

“Yeah,” he said dismissively, raising and lowering his brows quickly. “Way to follow orders.”

I matched his expression and quickened my pace so that I walked next to him. “Hey, that’s what I thought.”

My commander rolled his eyes and held his gun close. “So, what? We just leavin’ her back there? With them?”

I shrugged, pre-annoyed. “She seemed pretty happy to me.”

We made our way into the thicket: a dense wood that sprawled on for miles. It was in here that we were first able to lose the creatures: shake them from us long enough to catch a breath. But that was a long time ago.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” he asked quickly.

  “Just what I said.”

Baxley sighed. “Will you stop bein’ snippy and give me a straight answer, for once? You’re the biggest pain in my ass.”

“You love it,” I teased. “B, we have to talk.”

“What, you breakin’ up with me, kid?”

I smiled his way, but neither of us picked up on the conversation offer. We had an odd relationship. Not only for commander and soldier, but for me being twenty-two and Baxley a cool fifty-five.

At first, I thought of him like a… not father. But like a plucky uncle. One that always had great stories and seemed to run into the zaniest people. But by the time I turned seventeen, I began having different feelings toward him. I went through a crisis then. An, ‘if this is all there is, why not?’ phase where I rebelled.

I rebelled within a rebellion, and it looked a whole lot like me sneaking into Baxley’s trailer—that’s where we hide, by the way: an abandoned trailer park on the outskirts of town—and kissing him deeply even as he protested.

Out of either instinct or routine, we both crouched for cover, hearing a distant hum that neither of us could identify as being close or far away.

Baxley drew his gun and traced it along the dark thicket, and I followed suit. We stayed deathly silent then until the hum disappeared for certain.

“When I said Karen looked happy,” I began again, “I meant… she was kissing that thing.”

“Rape?” Baxley asked in a furious whisper, his brows drawing together in confusion.

“He didn’t have her sprawled out on the sidewalk,” I offered in a tone that might as well have been a shrug.

“You know what I mean,” he warned.

  “I don’t think so,” I said.

Karen had a theory about the al
iens, these Vithohn, that I found disturbing. I’d spent nearly my whole life fighting them. Learning to trap them. Taking cues from Baxley on how to handle myself in a militia. My father was part of Baxley’s militia, and when he died, Baxley took me under his wing. I was cocking guns since I was eight.

To me, the aliens were the ultimate enemy.

But Karen… she had different ideas about them. About ways to control them: change them.

“I’m not leavin’ her,” Baxley said suddenly, stoic.

“Then you’re risking your own life, not mine,” I argued, traipsing further into the wilds. “I’m not going back there.”

“She’s our second in command,” he snapped.

“And you’re first in command, so deal!”

Baxley didn’t like being our commander; he didn’t like others thinking he was in a position of authority. It was all a moot point, anyhow, since everyone revered and respected him. Everyone went to him when we needed someone to tell us how to survive.

“Fine,” the dark-haired man seethed through gritted teeth. “Then as commander, I say we’re going back!”
