The Killing Games

Chris had finished his business with his father, now he was open to a whole new adventure. It was time to take him in new directions.
My biggest concern, and something I learnt along the way, was the giant gaping plot point from the first book. Chris’ mother’s death. A huge unresolved mystery that I backed myself into a corner with (thinking I was oh so smart to leave little hooks and huge plot points in my fiction so I could one day create this interlocking and impressive whole story).
I will address the issue, in the third and final book, but there simply wasn’t room to answer it in this sequel. In the original genesis for the entire plot Chris’ venture to France was never explained, it was left open. But I was drawn to writing the “college years” and put Chris into some interesting scenarios.
Interestingly, it was Alexis who developed the most through the course of the book. Initially just being a character relegated to stir Chris’ pot she became an interesting diversion all to herself. She transformed into something of a mirror to Chris, mirroring back the type of character Chris was in the first book. Meddling and interfering in the plot as she goes.
I think out of all the new characters Detective Dubois was my favourite to write, so immoral and corrupt. Certainly a character I’d love to write some more of, if ever it comes up.
I’m personally satisfied with this sequel, I think it’s a strong and complex continuation of what I set out in the first book.
Here’s hoping you’ve enjoyed it! Be sure to drop a review on Amazon, you have no idea how much that helps!
Till next time!
