She shuddered, clenching around him. Oh, God…

Her fingers dug into his shoulders. She lifted her body, moving in time with his thrusts. Faster. Deeper. Harder.

“That’s it, ma petite, move. Yes, yes. So good.” His mouth pressed against her neck, and his hips moved, faster, ever faster against hers, as his cock thrust deeply into her body.

Every time he withdrew, his cock slid against her clit, rubbing her, teasing her. Every muscle in her body tightened, yearned.

He sucked the skin of her throat, nibbling softly. She gasped, feeling her climax build. She moved against him, on him. Once.

  Twice. Deeper.

“Are you close?” He lifted his head. His lips were moist, his eyes glowing. “Will you come for me?” A hard, deep thrust. A slow slide against her clit. “Will you?” His cock buried itself in her core.

Trinity screamed, feeling her orgasm rip through her in a blinding wave.

“Mon Dieu!” He threw back his head, his teeth clenched. “I can feel you squeezing me.” His eyes closed. “So. Damn. Good.” He shuddered, and she felt him pump into her, felt the hot blast of his semen as he came deep within her.

In the moments that followed, they stayed together, locked in each other’s arms.

Trinity was loathe to move. Gareth surrounded her. His body.

His warmth. His scent. She could feel the pounding of his heart, could feel the slight movement of his chest as he breathed.

In his arms, she felt safe. Secure.

Which had to be crazy, since the man was a werewolf.

Still, she’d never felt so close to another person. Never before actually felt… linked to another.

And she did feel linked. Bound to Gareth.

  Bound to a werewolf.

He lifted his head, and his eyes no longer glowed. His mouth twisted in a half-smile.

She flushed, realizing suddenly that her legs still had a death grip around his waist. “I—uh…”

He kissed her, a light, quick kiss on the lips. “Trinity…you understand now, don’t you?”

“Understand?” She repeated, blinking. She didn’t understand a whole hell of a lot that had happened in the past six hours.

“We’re meant to be together,” he whispered, his hands anchored at her waist.

  She hesitated. “Gareth—”

“Shh…” He kissed her again. “Just give me time, okay? Let me convince you that we’re meant to be.”

God, he was gorgeous. His eyes were beseeching, his jaw strong and determined. And his mouth…

  She took a breath.

“Trinity…” His golden stare was intense. “I promise, you have nothing to fear from me.”

She wanted to believe him. Wrapped in his arms, his cock still strong within her depths, she wanted to believe him, but she remembered what the black wolf had looked like when it had jumped in front of her. She remembered the flash of fangs, the snarling growls.

He must have read her fear because his expression darkened.

“Give me time,” he whispered. “Give me the time to prove what we can have, what we can be.” He swallowed. “I’m more than the wolf. I’m a man, too.”

Her heart pounded. A part of her wanted to flee, wanted to run from him as far and as fast as she could. But another part of her just wanted to stay here, in his arms. Forever.

“Give me a chance,” he whispered, his lips feathering over her neck.

A moan slipped past her lips.

His hips pulled back and thrust against her, the friction of his cock electric.

“Say you’ll stay with me,” his words were harsh, but his hands were gentle upon her. “Don’t leave me.”

  Her breathing hitched.

His hands lifted her hips. Up. Down. His cock rubbed against her clit.

“Say you’ll stay.” His teeth were clenched. His cheeks flushed.

  “Stay!”

And as hunger ripped through her, she could only nod.

Bite of the Wolf: Chapter 4

His mate was beautiful. Gareth stared at Trinity, marveling at the luminous beauty of her face. They were on the deck of the cabin. Dusk was falling and the golden hues of the sunset seemed to surround Trinity.

She’d been with him in the woods for two days now. She hadn’t mentioned wanting to leave again, and he was glad for that small favor.

Rafe was still out there, stalking them through the wilderness.

Waiting for his moment to strike.

He’d caught the rogue wolf’s scent a few times, but he hadn’t been able to track him. In truth, he hadn’t wanted to leave his mate’s side long enough to track the white wolf.

He inhaled deeply, drawing her sweet scent into his lungs. His cock stirred, and he wondered if he could tempt her into—

“How did you become a werewolf?” Trinity asked, her blue

  gaze lifting to meet his.

He’d known the question would come, sooner or later. “I didn’t become a werewolf,” he said, taking a step toward her and enjoying the way the wind lifted her silky hair.

She frowned, her dark brows drawing together with a faint line.

  “But I saw—”

He touched the skin of her cheek. “Sweet, what I meant was that I didn’t become a werewolf. I was born one.”

Her lips parted in surprise, then she shook her head. “How is that even possible?”

His lips hitched. “Trust me, it’s possible.” He inhaled again, drinking in her scent. Lilacs. The woman smelled just like lilacs.

“So what, when you were a kid you would run around the house as a wolf?”

He stepped back. It was either put a distance between them or strip her and plunge into her tight sex. “We don’t change until adolescence. When we hit puberty, the wolf develops in us. We heed the call of the moon, and we change.”

He wanted to answer her questions, but he also wanted, very much, to make love to her. To hear the soft moans that slipped past her lips. To feel the hot, wet clasp of her body around him.

  The woman was addictive.

Her gaze drifted to the darkening sky. “But you don’t always change.”

“No.” He shook his head. “The older one gets the more control one develops.” He thought he saw a small sigh of relief slip from her lips.

She turned to face him. “That first night, you—you did something to me, didn’t you?” Her blue gaze held his. “To make me get into that limo, you did something.”

  He nodded once.

“What did you do? What did you do to me?”

His heart ached at the pain he heard in her voice. “Trinity…”

  “Just tell me.”

He took a deep breath. “My kind has many gifts.” Some good and some bad. “To a certain extent, we can… influence… the thoughts of others.”

“Mind control.” Her lip curled in distaste.

“Yes.” He wouldn’t lie to her. “That was the only time I did it, I swear. I needed to get you out of there, to some place safe.” He didn’t want her to think that he would use his powers against her.

“How do I know you won’t do it again?”

He stiffened. “I won’t use that power against you. I don’t want you to be with me because I’m controlling you.” He wanted her to come to him because she wanted him, as much as he wanted her.

She rubbed her arms and walked to the edge of the deck. Her gaze was locked on the woods.

The sound of the encroaching night surrounded them. He could hear the crickets, the rustle of branches.

The soft pad of a wolf’s steps, inching closer. Closer.

He stiffened. Michael and Alerac were inside the cabin.

Tilting his head back, he inhaled the night air, inhaled the scents, used the power of the wolf within to sense the creature that stalked him.

  That stalked his mate.

His fangs burned, and his nails lengthened into claws.

“That’s good to know,” Trinity murmured, apparently obl
ivious to the danger that was surrounding her. She turned slowly to face him. “Because that first night, you scared me—” She broke off, her eyes widening.

His lips curled back, and a growl rumbled in his throat.

“Gareth?” Her voice was a squeak.

  He snarled.

She stiffened, and he saw fear flash across her face.

“Get inside.” Rafe was close, too close. And the beast within was fighting to get free to kill the wolf who’d dared threaten its mate.

  Trinity didn’t move.

Behind her, a white wolf crept from the shadows of the forest.

Its teeth were bared, dripping blood from a fresh kill.

Gareth had to change, to take the form of the wolf to fight the creature that threatened Trinity.

“Go!” His voice was barely human. It sounded more like the growl of an enraged beast. He heard the popping of bones and felt the burning agony that signaled the change.

He saw Trinity staring at him in horror.

And saw the white wolf inching toward her.

Trinity reached out a hand as if to help him. He snarled at her, his teeth flashing. She didn’t understand the danger, didn’t know that Rafe stalked her—

With a howl, he shed his human form, emerging fully as the beast. His heart pounded, and he wanted to feel his enemy’s throat beneath his teeth. He launched his body into the air, feeling the muscles of his body coil and release.

Trinity screamed, crouching down and covering her face with her hands.

He leapt over her, landing on the lush grass and running toward his prey.

The white wolf was waiting for him, its fangs bared.

  ***

Trinity slowly lowered her hands and forced her lashes to lift.

  The deck was empty.

Her heart was pounding and she was pretty sure that she’d just lost ten years of her life.

Jesus. She’d thought that Gareth was attacking her. She’d

thought those teeth were going to lock around her, tear into her—

Vicious growls echoed through the woods.

She jumped to her feet and spun around. And then she saw

them. The two wolves were locked in mortal combat. Biting. Slash-ing with fangs and claws.

The door behind her slammed open. Michael and Alerac raced to her side.

“Trinity, what’s happen—” Michael broke off, his gaze landing on the fighting wolves. “Rafe.” There was rage in his voice. Hate.

  He growled fiercely.

Alerac stiffened and barred his fangs.

Gareth’s claws raked the other wolf, and the creature yelped, jerking back.

“Jesus,” Trinity breathed, unable to tear her gaze from the sight before her. Gareth was relentless, attacking the wolf over and over.

  Ripping flesh. Biting.

He was in a killing frenzy.

“Stop him!” She screamed, grabbing Michael’s arm. “He’s killing him!”

Alerac smiled, his fangs flashing. “Good.”

No, it wasn’t good. It was horrible. She swallowed back the revulsion that burned in her throat. Gareth was killing that wolf, no, killing that man. Slowly and violently. She couldn’t stand it, couldn’t stand the blood. The howls of pain. She jumped off the deck and ran toward them. “Stop!”

The black wolf lifted its head, its golden eyes locking on her. Its teeth were stained with blood.

She was grabbed from behind and yanked back, her body forced against a solid wall of muscle. “Don’t move,” Alerac growled into her ear.

She jerked against him, struggling with all her might.

The black wolf stepped toward them, its mouth curled back in a snarl.

Alerac’s hold tightened. “Dammit, woman, stop!”

She ignored him, desperate to stop the slaughter that was happening right before her eyes. Her nails scraped against his forearm, and her body twisted like a snake in his arms.

The black wolf snarled, stalking toward them. Behind it, the other wolf staggered to its feet and scampered toward the bushes.

“No!” Alerac’s cry lashed out into the night.

The black wolf advanced upon them, its eyes locked on Alerac.

A low growl rumbled in its throat.

The wolf was less than a foot away from them now. Trinity

could feel the hot touch of its breath against her skin and smell the odor of blood that coated its body. She could see the killing rage in the depths of those shining golden eyes.

“Don’t move,” Alerac whispered. “Whatever happens, just don’t move.” He released her and stepped to her side.

  The wolf barred its teeth.

Alerac dropped to his knees and bowed his head before the

beast. The black wolf stepped forward, its mouth spread wide, its teeth gleaming.

Trinity’s heart pounded so hard that her body actually trembled.

She stared down at the wolf, at Alerac, and felt terror rip through her.

“Gareth…” She tried to call to the man.

The wolf’s head lifted, its mouth curled in a deadly snarl.

“Gareth?” Oh, God, could he even understand her in his wolf form?

The wolf threw back its massive head and howled. As she

watched, the wolf’s body contorted, bones snapped, and the fur disappeared. In moments, Gareth stood before her. Naked, strong.

  Completely enraged.

His eyes blazed with anger. His muscles were tense, his jaw locked. “Just what the hell did you think you were doing?” His voice cut like a whip.

She lifted her chin. Her entire body was shaking now. She’d just seen two wolves, correction, two werewolves, almost fight to the death. And now she was being yelled at by her lover.

  It was really too much.

“I couldn’t let you kill him,” she muttered, glaring back at him.

Alerac’s head jerked up and he looked at her as if she were crazy. “Why the hell not?”

Gareth immediately turned on the other man, fangs barred. “And don’t you ever touch her again.”

Alerac swallowed. “I didn’t want her to come between the two of you. One of you would have killed her.”

“I wouldn’t harm my mate,” Gareth snapped.

“I couldn’t take the chance.” Alerac glanced toward the dark woods. “The fureru de la mort was upon you. I didn’t know if you would even recognize her.”

“The what was upon him?” She asked blankly.

Alerac’s jaw flexed. “The death rage.”

“Oh.” The death rage. Werewolves suffered from a death rage.

  Just great.

“I would never harm my mate,” Gareth snarled.

Alerac rose to his feet. “You haven’t completed the bonding. I couldn’t risk her—”

“She is not yours to risk. She’s mine.”

“Actually, she’s not,” Trinity said quite clearly, tired of the men ignoring her.

Gareth’s head jerked toward her. His burning gaze locked on her. “You deny me?”

“I’m not some kind of possession, okay? You don’t own me.”

And she was damn tired of him acting like he did. She raked her hand through her hair.

  “I am your mate.”

She wet her lips. “I want to go home.” She sounded like a whiny six year old, but she didn’t care. She needed to get away from him.

Needed time to think, to clear her head.

Alerac stepped away, slipping into the house.

Gareth stared down at her, his face twisted in anger. “You can’t leave me.”

“Yes,” she said, clenching her hands into fists. “I can.” She took a quick breath. “Look, it has been an… interesting weekend, ok?

But I need to get back home now.”

He flinched, and for a moment, she saw raw pain in the depths of his eyes. Then his expression closed down, and she saw only stark determination on his face. “You will stay with me.”

  She locked
her jaw. “I need time, Gareth. Time on my own.”

Time away from werewolves and death rages. She closed her eyes, shuddering. “And what the hell is a death rage, anyway?”

“It is a rage that comes upon my kind when we are locked in battle. If we are pushed too far, if our mates are threatened, we turn fully to the beast. We lose sight of everything, but the desire to kill.” Gareth’s voice was very quiet.

Her eyes snapped open and she looked at him, horrified. Her knees shook as she realized how close she’d come to injury, to death.

“No,” he said, apparently reading her fear. His voice was soft.

“I would never hurt you.” His hands gripped her shoulders. “I couldn’t.”

She shook her head, barely hearing his words. “I have to get out of here.” Panic was rising in her, hard and fast. It was just too much. Too much to take in. She needed space. Time. She needed to get away from him. She twisted, jerking against him. “Let me go!”

“Never.” The word was a vow. “I’ve searched for you my en-

tire life, I’m not about to let you walk away from me.” His mouth crashed down on hers.

She tasted his anger in the kiss, his rage. And his hunger.

Her own hunger rose even as she struggled against him. His body was hard against her, naked. Strong. She felt the stir of his cock against her, felt it brushing against her belly.

He lifted his mouth, a bare inch, and whispered, “Tonight, I’m going to take you in the way of my kind. We’ll complete the bonding, and you’ll never want to leave me again.”

Terror ripped through her at his words.

And she knew that she would have to find a way to leave him.

Bite of the Wolf: Chapter 5

He could smell her fear… and her desire.

His lips curled. “My mate, why do you fight me, when you

know that you want our joining as much as I do?” He stroked his hand down the softness of her cheek.

  She shivered.

“I’m going to taste you tonight,” he whispered, his gaze dropping down her body. “All of you.” She was wearing a short skirt, a button-down shirt, and a pair of tiny sandals. He’d bought the clothes for her, arranged to have them brought to the cabin. And now, he couldn’t wait to rip them off her.

His hands trailed down her body, stopping to cup the warm

weight of her breasts. “I’m going to taste you,” he told her, teasing her nipples with his fingers. “I’m going to lick you, taste your cream, and make you come against my mouth while my tongue
