I first would like to thank the God I serve for planting a precious seed inside of me. Through time and perseverance I've appreciated the growth of that seed. It's simply amazing how you can be carrying a blessing and it not be your time to release it. It’s finally my time.

I would like to encourage every person who is carrying a dream to not give up. Faint not and in due season you will reap your harvest! I would like to take the time to thank my parents for keeping me in the will of God and learning for myself how to trust Him.

  Introduction

No one believed they would make it out of the hood and be successful. And, none of them believed the cost they would pay would bring such heartbreak and disappointment. Trey, JJ, Tamara and Q depended on each other for survival. Their friendship was rock solid and no one was ever going to destroy it. They vowed to be there for each other to the end, regardless of the trials or tribulations..

Trey Edwards is the CEO of Vision Mobile Net, a multi-million dollar cellular phone company; the new trendsetter in the mobile phone industry. His company prospered by merging the hip-hop culture into the phone industry with the latest social media toys. More importantly, the biggest hip-hop Moguls are his most valuable clients and the dividends pay off—big. When it comes to his personal life, he’s living the complete opposite, trying to escape the wrath of the one woman who controls him with sexual exploits and manipulation. Octavia is nothing more than a gold digger; she adds no value to his life and wants to get her hands on whatever she can. When he meets Carlotta, a woman who totally changes his thoughts on relationships, but not without facing the drama of Octavia.

Tamara Robinson is better known as T-Bird because of the sultry sound of her voice. She’s the hottest artist in the industry. A natural songwriter and hit maker, she is at the top of her game, generating hits at the charts. She is about to release her debut album after a divorce from her husband Shaun, who was also her manager. While navigating her career, his selfish need for money took over and he liquidated all of their assets due to his gambling habits. This almost left them bankrupt until she sought the help of Trey, Q, and JJ. Fortunately, they financed her album entitled, It’s Over Now. Everyone anticipates platinum ratings as she prepares for the release of her first single entitled, Can’t Wait Another Minute, and a multi-city promotional tour. Suddenly she finds herself falling in love with Darnell, but the relationship will end with T-Bird in utter devastation.

Quincy Anderson, better known as 'Q,' is the CEO of Corporate Jet Travel Services. His clients are high-profile celebrities and business elites from all facets of the business world. He’s just added a fleet of new limousines to his company to meet the demands of his clients. Q has determined nothing will separate him from living the good life he’s created as a bachelor, and to him, being in a relationship would be a catastrophe. He can have any woman he wants and despises the drama relationships potentially create. Being the player he is, especially after witnessing the experiences of his closest friends, changes drastically when he meets T-Bird’s first cousin Desiree.

Jay Jones is an entertainment lawyer and entrepreneur. He’s better known as JJ and represents the biggest names in the sports, movie, and music industries. If you read his high school yearbook, it clearly states, most successful, and if you were to ask anyone he knew, they would say JJ was born with a book in his hand. He is a natural born visionary with the Midas Touch. He also owns the hottest club in the northeast, known as The Tea Pot. He’s married to Vivian, an actress and one of the most beautiful women you will ever lay eyes on. However, he never thought she would put him in a position when it came to trust, and now he is faced with a dilemma that is jeopardizing everything they’ve built together. He's discovered Vivian tried to help her worthless brother pay a $50,000 child-support debt by embezzling the money from the account of a foundation established by T-Bird to help the less fortunate in their community..

  Patience is a Virtue

Trey’s flight from the West Coast landed on a Thursday afternoon. He’d just secured one of the most significant contracts of his career with Global Tech, a digital cable corporation. Global Tech’s technology was going to be instrumental in upgrading Trey’s company, Vision Mobile Net, by interfacing audio and visual enhancements into the cellular communications network. Vision Mobile Net was the first cellular phone company to be owned by a minority. Headquartered in New Jersey, it had recently made Fortune's 100 Best Technology Companies list and was featured on the front page of several business and technology magazines, awarded with numerous top ratings in technology and customer service. Vision Mobile Net was the future. They dominated the entire east coast and new markets across the country. He couldn’t help but think, as the plane pulled into the gate, that it

had all begun with a dream, a business plan, and a $500,000 SBA loan along with the help of JJ, to get his business started. He was the rock, and if anybody could make a deal happen, it was JJ. He’d given Trey the forecasting and staffing strategy by contracting temporary agencies to fill job opportunities in order to keep costs down. That is, until he was able to establish enough revenue to show a net worth of at least $100 million over a five-year period.
<
br />   The plan worked perfectly, and the company’s revenue skyrocketed to that amount within the first two years, thanks to the rise and demand of social media. Trey’s net worth was right on target and grew to more than $300 million when he was only 39 years old. Who could believe he would be this successful, after being a product of the hood and growing up in Newark, New Jersey?

Now no one could deny that he’d surpassed everyone’s expectations including his own. While growing up in Newark, the streets were filled with shootouts, there were drug corners and neighborhoods out of control with people hustling, and rising death tolls. The challenges were even greater for those considering pursuing an education as he had because of the pressure of being in a gang, especially if they wanted to survive on the streets. Trey had done well with a high GPA; it had made it possible for him to obtain a job at a major corporation while getting a BS in communications and later an MBA in business. You couldn’t beat those odds in a crap game, but he had. Regardless, he’d wanted to return to revitalize the neighborhood he’d once grown up in by starting his own business and help change the lives of people around him.

Even still, hip-hop was starting a revolution and culture of its own. The music industry was using new technology to enhance their sound, websites, and access their tweets.

After getting home from LAX, he wanted to lounge in his favorite chair while listening to his favorite jazz as he checked his phone messages, but he knew that his closest friends, JJ, Q, and T-Bird, wouldn’t allow him to return home and not give them the low down on his business deals. Finally, after listening to all the messages and catching up on a few details to be finalized, he headed for the shower. Although it was late evening, the temperature was still a sweltering 85 degrees. He dressed in a soft linen shirt and matching slacks, perfect for dinner at The Tea Pot, where everyone was waiting.

Before walking out the door, he finished his cranberry and ginger juice. His phone rang. It was Octavia, his ex, and the woman he was trying to evade. He knew she hoped to get his sympathy after a disastrous last date full of the usual drama. Needless to say, he knew it was all an act. She knew how to get money when she needed it. She had no conscience when she was on a money mission. She’d strut into his office with her long, perfectly shaped legs, wearing a short dress with no panties, lock the door and turn tricks on him sitting right in his chair.

Talk about a freak! It seemed to turn her on even more watching him cum and that he couldn’t stop her. Afterward, she would fix her hair, fix her lipstick and walk out the door with a check in her hand. She was driving him so crazy that he was losing control. He was losing his focus on his business affairs. He had no choice but to let go of the best piece of ass he’d ever had, not only to readjust, but to reach new milestones in his business. But with sex like that, it wasn’t going to be that easy. Octavia had Trey’s nose wide open between giving him the best head and insisting he fuck her in the ass to make her cum.

She knew all of his weaknesses and loved every minute of it. As far as she was concerned, it wasn’t about love or trying to having a relationship. It was all about the challenge of fucking the shit out of him and leaving her mark for the next woman to conquer if they thought they were going to take her place. She knew he’d always be willing to come back to her for what he needed. If it weren’t for Q calling him out, he would have let her stay around longer.

Q had called him weak, which made him angry yet had given him the strength to walk away. Thank God he had. He hadn’t even realized he was being pimped. How could he not have realized that for her, pussy was just a dick thing. Subsequently, in the long run, she'd thrown away what most women dreamed of having. Trey was educated, handsome, and wealthy and could be a good man to any woman. She nurtured her craft, which allowed her to spend every man’s money instead of her own. It was a sin she learned from her own mother. She was a wildcat, a gold digger, and before letting go of Trey, she walked away with more than $50,000 in her bank account, a condo with a waterfront view of the city and a brand new Porsche. Every man wants a freak, but not to the extent that he was willing to go broke over it. But if a man wasn't careful, being with Octavia was like trying to kick a drug habit. Having sex with her was just like that. Karma was a bitch. The tables were turning and she was finally suffering payback. She was being pimped by a brother who didn’t give a shit about her pussy other than it making him money.

She didn’t have the heart to tell Trey she was finally trapped by her own web being in the game. As far as her new lover was concerned, he didn’t give a damn about how good she was in bed. He was able to ring her bell to the point of her stalking him and he was married.

Octavia was all that and some. She was tall as sugar cane and dark as chocolate. She was perfect eye candy, had a college degree, and worked on Wall Street. She was just too dumb to not be able to shake the ghetto demons off her shoulders. They had her trapped by her family history. Even if you removed her mother from the equation, she had five other sisters that all possessed the same characteristics; the same demons. Their game was solid. They were known as the cover girls—strictly available for the most influential men in the city. Men who needed a showpiece on their arm on any given night, but for a hefty price.

Not willing to listen to her message, he grabbed his contracts and rushed out the door to meet everyone at The Tea Pot.

In the car he turned up the radio when the latest hip hop song came on. The Tea Pot was the only club to have three floors of ultimate entertainment and featured poetry for the evening. The club also included a restaurant, with live acts and two club rooms. Upstairs on the second level the latest hip hop, reggae, soul and salsa hits were played. JJ even had a pool for VIP and private parties. If that wasn’t enough, people could choose from the jazz cafe where the socialites hung out, preferring a more subdued environment. Or the cigar room, where deals were made over casual conversation while having a puff on a favorite stogie and a glass of cognac. On the other side of the cafe was the sports bar which included wide-screen TVs, pool, chess, and domino tables. There was no place like The Tea Pot and to have a friend like JJ owning it—what more could anyone ask for? When he arrived, people were beginning to fill the rooms. He made his way through the crowd.

“Hey Trey, over here,” Q yelled out into the crowd from their usual booth where JJ and T-Bird were also waiting. This was their time to catch up on everything from business deals to personal issues in their lives. They’d been friends since grammar school and each of them had done well for themselves. T-Bird was the first female to be a part of their elite circle. She met JJ at one of her local gigs when he was looking for new artists. After hearing her voice he knew she was going to be the next big thing in the industry. It was clear they had chemistry. The moment he introduced her to the rest of the guys it was history.

She told them that she had recently moved to the city from New Orleans and immediately they adopted her as their little sister. T-Bird was just one of a kind. She was fine as hell and had superstar qualities. She had style, swagger, and charisma. More importantly, her southern personality shone through. She could light up any room when she entered. How could you miss, five feet, ten inches of honey, toned, Louisiana skin, light brown hair that fell down to the middle of her back accented by her green eyes. She was perfect a ten. T-Bird was the shit and she knew it. Above everything else, nothing was more important to her than handling her business. She was all about her career and getting the deal she needed to get her to the top. JJ couldn’t deny her drive and provided her with major contacts and now she was living the dream with the best friends ever. Sitting at that table they couldn’t help but feel thankful for escaping the hood. For them, it was all about what they meant to each other and sharing their success as one.

Out of nowhere, JJ stood up and threw his hands into the air.

“Do you remember what that pastor said last Sunday? What’s his name? Oh yeah, Pastor Wallace. Man, he said that we only utilize 10% of our brain and true potential. Then
he asked us, ‘Can you imagine what would happen if you used 40%?’ “Man, he was tripping, but you know what? He was right.”

“I agree,” Q said. “You know, the journey is just as important as the destination.” As he took a sip of wine from his glass and then walked over the DJ’s booth to request he play one of his favorite ballads.

Trey dug in his brief case and pulled out his most recent accomplishments, while being in LA followed by T-Bird, with her new record deal, Q and returning to the booth to reach into his brief case to pull out his contract amendments adding the limousine service to his already thriving company and finally JJ, wearing the biggest smile with the deed in his hand, after finally burning the mortgage of the club.

The next big project was putting their focus on the contracts and funds coming into the foundation “R.E.A.C.T.” started by T-Bird and one of many checks from the government for $50,000.00. That night they had cause to celebrate. They acknowledged that there was a greater power working in their lives.

“Hey man, where’s the food?” Q yelled out. “All this talking is making me hungry.”

“Take it easy playboy, here it comes right now,” JJ said as one of his cooks placed four baskets of BBQ wings and sweet potato fries on the table from the kitchen.

“Excuse me, but ladies first. Didn’t your mother teach you any manners?” T-Bird said as Q attempted to reach to put some on his plate.

“Listen you know I love you, I just don’t think I love you enough to try and think about manners right now. Okay?” he replied.
