Alexis walks out of the bathroom holding the life-altering stick. I can see the shock written all over her face. I walk over towards her and she hands It to me. We’re having a baby.
Alexis
We spend the rest of the evening laying together on the couch, staring at the TV. I doubt either one of us is really watching it. I know I’m not, as the past year runs through my thoughts. I think about meeting Noah and finding out about my brothers being in the Mafia. I tried to end things with Noah, but thankfully, he fought for us. My thoughts touch on my friend Chance and finding out that Nick’s wife murdered him. Somehow in the loss and finding out who people truly were, I found true love.
Noah pulls me closer and kisses my head. When I look up at him, his eyes darken, and he gets off the couch and walks over to his briefcase, still by the door. He pulls out a small black box and walks back over to me, bending to one knee as he says, “There was a question that I had planned to ask you before you tried throwing me out. I know our relationship hasn’t been normal, so I guess my proposal shouldn’t be either. Will you marry me?” I sigh, telling him that he doesn’t have to marry me because of the baby. Noah grasps my hands firmly as he shakes his head “We both been lied to by the people we love and trust, baby. I didn’t know or feel the truth until I was with you. You are the only thing in my life that feels real. I want to spend the rest of my life with you and I promise that I will love and protect you until I take my final breath.”
I wipe the tears away and nod as Noah slips the two-carat heart-shaped ring on my finger. He picks me up and carries me to the bed where he proves to me just how real our love truly is.
