Secrets (The Secret Series Book 1)

“Let’s wait until everybody leaves and then we’ll make our approach. I don’t want to spook her and I need to make sure that Devlin and his people haven’t already thought about coming to her. If anybody could figure out my sources, it would probably be Devlin.” I didn’t like the sound of any of this and the only thing I wanted to do was to finish this and go on living my life. The only problem with that was the fact that Jason would be leaving right after and that made my heart ache.
As everybody filed out, the good professor had stayed behind, going over her notes and not even looking up from what she was doing. “I see that you still use your sexuality to keep the boys attention.” She raised her glasses and peered above the podium to see Jason. She wasn’t smiling and it didn’t look like she was at all happy to see him. “Before you say anything, I just want to tell you that I’m not here on personal business.”
“I really don’t care of why you’re here. You need to turn around and go back the same way you came in. There’s nothing that I have to say to you Jason. Believe me when I tell you that I never want to see you again.” Her regular carefree casualness turned into a cold freeze that made the temperature in a room appear that it had lowered at least 10°.
“I understand how you feel, Miko, but this has nothing to do with you and me. Larissa has gotten in over her head and needs your help.” As he was talking, I noticed that he was still looking around the room to make sure that we weren’t going to be interrupted by unknown forces. I had no idea if Devlin was going to come here, but we had left him and his friends alive, so the possibility was there. “She heard the dying words of a Japanese woman and now those words have caused some undue side effects.”
“What you mean is that you were sent to kill her and for some reason you didn’t go through with it. Don’t take me for fool, Jason, because we both know that I am smarter than you and all of your cohorts put together. I don’t know why you changed, but I have been trying to tell you that there were other ways to make a living. I guess I should feel pleased that you’ve finally turned over a new leaf, but for some reason I find myself jealous of this woman. After all, she was the one that made you rethink things and that was supposed to be my job.” Up close and personal, she was diminutive and really didn’t stand more than 5 feet tall, but she had a ball busting attitude that made me feel inadequate in her presence.
“I don’t think this is the time to get into that. Let’s just say that I decided to walk away from this life. Not killing Larissa has put a target on my back as well. I’ve told Larissa that I’ll have to disappear for good after this is over.”
“You must be some woman in order to change him like this. Not only has he stopped killing but he’s also decided to walk away from this life. I don’t know what kind of hold you have on him, but you should know that he has commitment issues. I can see in your eyes that you’re too far gone to give a damn about anything besides the love you think you share with him.” She was obviously distressed by this latest bit of information that was coming her way, but it was something that she was going to have to deal with on her own.
“That’s not fair and you know it, Miko. If we are through with the theatrics, I really think we should get down to the business at hand.” She turned her attention on me and I spouted the few words that I remembered that the Japanese lady had said to me. I couldn’t say for sure that I was getting the dialect just right, but the words made her eyes go wide.
“That’s very interesting and I’m very impressed by how you seem to mimic her language characteristics. It’s not perfect by any means, but certainly enough for me to know exactly what you’ve gotten yourself into.” Jason and I were both on the edge of our seats, metaphorically speaking, because we were standing at the time.
I think all three of us heard the door open at the same time and saw that Devlin had indeed found out exactly what Jason had been up to. “We need to get the heck out of here. Miko, if you have a back way out of this building show it to us right now.
“Follow me.” She opened a door that was behind the podium, and we barely got through when pieces of wood begin to splinter. Bullets were now flying, but they were very quiet, most likely coming from a silencer in order to not attract any attention. “It looks like I’m coming with you too since now you’ve put me into the thick of things. If we can’t figure something out, then I’ll have to disappear with you.” She wasn’t telling me anything that I didn’t already know, because my life as I knew it had already been turned upside down and inside out.
“We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it and for the time being we need to leave here and put Devlin in our rearview mirror.”
“That’s a good idea, Jason. My car is parked out back. I have an assigned parking space, but I never use it. It’s a good thing, considering that they would probably have that information in the palm of their hand.” She had a slight Japanese accent, but I think she lived here in the states most of her life. “Fuck, you blow in here like a tornado and you bring with you dangerous people.”
“They would’ve come to you anyway Miko. It’s probably a good thing that I came when I did. As you’ve said, I’ve turned over a new leaf in life and they’re not exactly taking very kindly to it.”
“No wonder, because what that dying woman said to your friend Larissa is some kind of code that they don’t want broken. I’ve been thinking about it while we’ve been moving through these hallways, and I think that I can break it with the help of a genius student. He is very good at these kinds of puzzles and has several other algorithms that will break that code.”
I heard the sound of footsteps and looked behind to see that we were now being chased by at least five individuals with Devlin in the lead. “We’re going to have to split up and meet up at some kind of rendezvous point. It would probably be a good idea that myself and Larissa split off from you, giving you a little bit of breathing room to get back to your vehicle and over to your friend’s place. Just give us the address and we’ll meet you there when we find a way to lose these people.” She leaned in and whispered into his ear, so that those that were following couldn’t have even a possibility of overhearing it.
He nodded his head and we went around the corner, while at the same time Miko took the next door and disappeared from view. Jason grabbed my hand and we went down a set of stairs, making sure to make as much noise as we could possibly make to tell Devlin exactly where we were going. That way he would follow us and leave Miko alone. Now that she had the code, her value had gone up significantly, especially since she knew somebody that could probably break it. If we were to die here now, at least that information would be out there and that it would be up to her to take it as far as it needed to go.
Chapter Twelve
We were in the bowels of the university, dashing through scenery that was left behind by productions that had been put on at one time or another. “We just need to keep them occupied and then we can lose them and find our own transportation to the address that Miko gave me.” That was going to be easier said than done, considering that Devlin now had a bone to pick with both of us. He was most likely feeling the effects of Jason’s fists striking against his jaw as we speak. If he didn’t wanna kill us before, he certainly did now. “Just stay on my six and let’s not lose each other in this maze.”
“I think we have a problem.” He followed where I was looking at and saw that five more men were coming down the other direction and basically cutting off any signs of escape.
“Damn, I think they’re trying to lead us and I’m not about to take that bait.” Instead of taking the only path that was left to us, he pulled his gun and fired indiscriminately into the five that were now converging on our location. I don’t think they saw that coming and two of them went down almost immediately, followed by a third, while the fourth and fifth dove for cover behind some scenery that was left over from Hamlet.
He now had two guns, one in each hand firing both at the same time. God help me, he looked damn sex
y doing it. I stayed with him the entire time, using his body as a human shield, as he went by the location of the other two and put them down with two shots to both of their arms. He was making it impossible for them to pick up a weapon. Soon we were crashing into this door that led to a kitchen.
Not even thinking about it, he grabbed me and pushed me into an open cooler, closing it behind us with an audible click that made me think that this wasn’t a very bright move. He stayed by the door and listened intently and it appeared after a few minutes had gone by that we had lost them. “We’ll stay here for a little bit longer, Larissa and then we will get out of here and hopefully by now security has been called. I purposely didn’t use a silencer, so that the sound of the bullets would make somebody call 911 and I know Devlin long enough to know that he will vacate the premises.” I was hoping he was right, but I wasn’t going to put all my eggs in one basket.
I think another half hour elapsed, when he finally tried to open the door and only found that it was still locked. When the door shut behind us, it automatically locked, leaving us in here to freeze to death, or until somebody happened to come by to open the door.
“I don’t think anybody’s going to be coming for us, because the police have probably already been called and they most likely will cordon off the area. That means that the university will be evacuated.” The temperature in the cooler was -20 degrees Celsius and if we didn’t get out of here soon, they would find our Popsicle bodies in the morning. “This isn’t good and we’re going to have to try and generate some heat.” I’d just finished saying my piece, when he kissed me and began to maul me like a teenager does in the back seat of his father’s car.
“I think we both know what needs to be done and the only way to generate any heat is to get physical.” I thought that he would never ask and I was more than willing to comply with that kind of proposition. After all, if I was going to die anyway, then why not go out with a smile on my face. It was the least that he could do for me considering that he put me into this death trap in the first place. I know that he was only thinking on his feet, but he may as well have done the job for Devlin, without him even having to lift a finger. It was ironic in its own way that we would be trapped inside here together, while they were out there looking to kill us. Our death was rapidly approaching anyway and with hypothermia, our organs shutting down and then our bodies falling into a black abyss. It wasn’t the easiest way to go, but it might’ve been the most peaceful under the circumstances.
“Let’s do this already, because I can barely feel my fingertips.” I moved my hand over his chest, undoing his buttons and showing Jason’s beautiful body that I had come to know and love. I touched his chest and felt the last bit of heat coming out of the skin, and then we were once again kissing with our hot tongues igniting a small ember that was hopefully going to turn into a full blown blaze. “I think that we are wearing too much clothes and we should get out of them. That way we can use the heat of our bodies pressed against each other to find that warmth.” Any excuse to see him naked was a good excuse. I could see that he was feeding on his own desire for me, by watching me strip down to nothing at all.
“Larissa, you’re a very sexy woman and there’s nothing I rather do than have sex with you for the last time. If we are going to die, we may as well enjoy ourselves. This may give us a brief reprieve and enough time for somebody to find us.” It was probably only wishful thinking that somebody would come, but having sex would at least slow down the process of freezing to death. That was time that we greatly needed and we were going to do everything we could do a hold on to that last vestige of hope that was slowly dwindling with each cold gasp that was coming out of our mouths. “Each time I see you like this, I can’t imagine why you’re still alone. Either you are damaged emotionally, or you just haven’t found the right one.”
I was busy touching his cock and feeling it flex against my fingers, until finally I was able to force his zipper down to the very bottom. I unleashed him and he was showing me how ready he was. It wasn’t lost on me as I moved to capture it like a queen does with a pawn, touching the hot surface of the head. “I know that I’ve done this already once today, but there’s something about you that keeps me coming back for more.”
“I feel the same way. You have this pull that makes me feel like I am powerless to stop myself from coming to you. I wish that I could control my baser instincts, but maybe this time I don’t have to. No longer do I have to fight the desire to make sweet love to you, until you are sweating heavily and putting out enough heat that we can withstand a few more minutes inside this deep freeze.” I didn’t care why he was doing it, only that he was and that no longer was it just a one sided relationship. This time we were both in it together and he had just said with his own words that he felt the same thing about me that I did with him.
“I just want to spend the last few moments of my life with you.” I had him in my hand, and was rubbing him nicely, seeing in his face that he was enjoying the feeling of my fingers working him over. We were both naked and if anybody had opened up the cooler at that moment they would’ve seen two healthy bodies about to consume each other.
“I think we can do a whole lot better than talking with our mouths.” I saw where he was going and I found myself on my knees worshiping his cock, finding the heat of his shaft moving across my tongue, which was so much better now than any other time. He had his hands on the back of my head and was using my mouth to keep him at a constant state of readiness. My tongue was working with a mind of its own, slathering all over his cock and also using my hands to rub up and down the inside of his thighs.
I could feel the cold, but it meant nothing to me at all as I devoured him until he couldn’t take it anymore. Lifting me into his arms, he curled my legs around his waist and slid into me with one long continuous thrust as we both stared into each other with our eyes. His hands were underneath me and he was now moving me in such a way that my pussy was dragging up and down his cock. “Oh yeah, this is what I’m talking about. Your pussy is like a fucking oven and your skin is on fire.” We were now moving together so fluidly that it felt like we were two parts of a whole. I had my hands around his neck and was raining kisses all over his face, stopping every so often to lightly bite at his earlobe, as he continued to make me ride that thing like there was no tomorrow.”
“Yes, Jason, fuck me…fuck me hard...deep…deeper….AHHHHHHHH.” I lost control, coming apart at the seams and spraying my juices all the way up and down his cock. The heated discharge of my explosive finale caught him off guard and he began to get this look in his eyes that I knew so well. He drove with precision, feeling the effects of my orgasm wrap him up in a tight embrace, but he was doing everything he could to slow down.
“Larissa, you’re too much…fuck MEEEEEEEEE.” With whatever energy I had left, I began to pound against him relentlessly, rubbing my clit against his shaft and prolonging that one orgasm that had taken me by surprise. I felt the heat of his climax and actually believed that there was a possibility that that would sustain us until we were rescued.
We stayed joined for little bit longer, until finally we had the semblance of mind to get dressed, curling around each other while stroking each other’s hair and looking at each other lovingly.
My eyes were starting to drift and the next thing I knew I awoke to find that I was in some kind of house with bland furnishings. Over in the corner was Jason, who was now talking to Miko and some nerdy kid with hair that was covering his eyes.
Struggling to my feet, I stumbled over to where they were and was about to fall to my knees, when Jason was right there to hold me back up. “I have good news. Apparently Miko’s friend Tony cracked the code. I didn’t want to wake you, because you passed out in the cooler moments before an errant janitor opened it up looking to steal a couple of steaks. He figured that with everybody evacuated that he could use that brief window of opportunity.”
“I guess we have him to thank for saving our lives.”<

“Larissa, I was way ahead of you and I rewarded him for his efforts by allowing him to take whatever he wanted.”
“I’ve broken the code and found that it contains the whereabouts of a secret terrorist attack. It not only reveals the location, but when it’s going to happen and how many people are going to be involved. Basically it’s a blueprint of the entire operation, which I’ve sent to various members of the government without leaving a trace of where it came from.” Tony was speaking to me like I knew him or perhaps that was exactly the way he talked to everybody. “They have no reason to come after you and most likely will go back to hiding in the shadows. I’ve also uploaded a virus to their computers, which should make them blind enough for the government and their henchmen to catch them unaware.”
Everybody was elated and I was more than happy to thank the young man with a well placed kiss on the lips. This took him off his game and he blushed two shades of red, as everybody enjoyed a moment of victory that seemed out of reach.
“Enjoy this victory, because you have only awakened a sleeping giant.” We all turned towards the screen, which had now turned black with a symbol of a skull on the screen. “You might have foiled my plans, but you’ve put a spotlight on yourselves. I was content to kill you, but now you’ve angered me to the point that I want revenge. Your life is going to burn down around all of you, including your new friend Tony and professor Miko. You’ll never have a moment’s rest and you will always be looking over your shoulder waiting for that inevitable bullet that is going to find its mark.”
“You can’t be serious.” I couldn’t believe that I actually said that and regretted it from the moment that it came out of my mouth.
“Ah, Larissa, you’re going to be the last one to feel the hot breath of my mouth on the back of your neck. I’m sorry that you don’t have any loved ones that I can go after, because it’s always better that I make you suffer by hurting the ones you love before I take your life in the most painful way. You made your bed and now you have to lie in it. I can’t allow you to walk away from this, not after you have destroyed months of planning that would’ve made me and my friends a lot of money.” The screen came back with the same screen saver of the Star Trek enterprise. His voice and what he had said had left us all speechless.
