  “Morning sex is the best,” he chuckled, going on mulishly, “can I burn the painting now?”

  “Ask someone to put it in the basement. Aunt Paula won’t visit us, but you can never be too sure.”

  He rolled me over and smacked my ass much harder than his playfulness and silly antics suggested. From the sting alone, I knew he’d left a handprint. “Smart-thinking. I now need to personally attend to your ablutions to make sure your whole body is scrubbed clean.” A pair of warm, kiss-swollen lips pressed onto my cheeks. “This little piggy went to washing.”

  The idea of being immersed in hot water was alluring. I toughened it up and groused as he lifted me up. “Not just an illusion, you’re indefatigable.”

  He gave my ass a two-handed squeeze. “Nextly you’ll be mine to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish…,”

  “To love, obey, and cherish,” I teased.

  He laughed at that, the deep rumble vibrating through my chest. “I’ve always hated that word.”

  Wrapping my legs around his waist, I kept my hands on his shoulders and brought my mouth to his. One of his hands supported my backside while the free one gripped my neck, holding my mouth to his so I could take more of him. We kissed each other with frenzied need, as if we hadn’t kissed for ages.

  My heart felt like it was about to overflow with happiness. I loved my future husband, loved our home. Loved that he was so open and honest with me. Loved that my body tingled in his proximity. As for the engagement ring on my finger? There wasn’t much to say other than it was huge and belonged to his mother.
