"It's only been a day," I replied, angry she wasn't obeying my orders.

"Just one more time, daddy. I'll do that thing you like so much," she begged.

My dick got hard the minute the words floated over the phone. Suddenly, I stopped thinking with the right head, and I quickly replied, "Tomorrow at noon, in my office."

She giggled and hung up the phone.

"Fuck," I said, gripping my phone tightly, resting my forehead on the wooden door. "Women make it so hard to do the right fuckin' thing."

I went to the bathroom to rinse my face with some cold water.

  LEXI

"I don’t think I'm ready for this. It's too much."

"Take your time. I'm here for the long run," he said, edging his fingers closer to the edge of my panties.

I was already wet and wanted nothing more than for him to slip his hand in, but the sound of Christian's footsteps nearing put me on high alert. I pushed Liam's hand off and began to eat my salad as though nothing had happened.

Liam chuckled as Christian walked in.

  "What's so funny," Christian asked.

"Lexi was telling me a joke she heard in Chicago."

"Oh really. Chicago. I'd like to hear the joke," he said, sitting down.

  Shit. Fuck me, goddamn it!

I tried my hardest to think of a joke, but jokes weren’t my forte.

"Well there was this nun, and then —"

Christian's phone went off again. "Hold that thought, baby."

I didn't try to stop him from answering this time. Hopefully, he would forget about the joke by the time he came back from talking with his other bitch. As soon as he stepped out of the room I punched Liam in the arm.

"What was that for?" he asked, rubbing his arm.

"Why would you bring up Chicago? Now he knows for sure."

"He doesn't know shit. He's only gonna know if you tell him anything."

"Fuck that," I whispered. "I'm not dying for you. I don't want to see you again."

"Well, that's going to be kind of hard, seeing as how Christian invited me to a barbecue on Saturday."

  "What!" I yelled.

"Shhh." He leaned in. "I'll leave you alone if you come to my office tomorrow. Twenty minutes like you promised," he whispered in my ear.

His breath flowed down my neck, sending chills over my skin.

My eyes closed. "Twenty minutes," I echoed softly.

  "Twenty little minutes."

  "And you'll leave me alone?"

"If after the twenty minutes you still want me to—I will."

  "What does that mean?"

Before he could answer, Christian walked back in. "So, the joke?" Christian asked.

  My heart sunk.

Liam chimed in, "Unfortunately, I have to get going. I have a date."

  "A date?" I asked in a high-pitched voice.

"Yeah, you know, a date—what single people do," Christian said.

"I know what a date is, Christian," I replied with an attitude, jealous that Liam was going out with another woman after trying to seduce me only a few seconds ago.

Liam held his hand out and shook Christian's hand, then held his hand out for me to shake.

"No, no, no. That's not how family does it. Kiss her on the cheek! Go on," Christian cajoled.

"He doesn’t have to," I said through gritted teeth.

"Oh no. What, Mr. Cerisi wants, Mr. Cerisi gets," Liam said, leaning in and pressing his lips softly to my cheek. "Tomorrow," he whispered.

  TWENTY MINUTES

The door closed, and Christian turned to me, twining his fingers with mine. He smiled, leaning in, crashing his lips against mine. Aroused by the culmination of the evening's events, I thrust my tongue into his mouth, the throbbing between my leg growing.

He spun me around and bent me over the white leather couch, slapping me on the ass with all the force his large hand could muster. His breathing was heavy as he hiked my dress up and ripped my panties from my body.

I tried to shift myself to a more comfortable position, but the slap I received against the thickness of my ass made me think twice about doing it again.

"Did I give you permission to move?" he asked.

  "No, Christian," I replied quietly.

These were the times I hated him; the moments when he ran hot and cold. But I learned a long time ago to accept and submit to whatever personality presented itself while in his presence.

He leaned in and whispered in my ear, "Now be a good girl and spread your legs."

I did as I was told.

  CHRISTIAN

Pinning her against the couch with my left hand, I unzipped my pants and pulled out my hard dick, ready to fuck the hell out of her.

"Tell me you want me," I demanded.

  "I want you, baby."

I smiled, slowly sliding myself into her wet pussy. Her head tilted back, a slight moan escaping from her lips. She was warm and inviting, and as I thrust into her, small gasps escaped from her mouth, the sounds turning me on even more than usual. I clutched on to the sides of her hips and pulled her close, digging my fingernails into her soft flesh.

I don’t know what possessed me to say what I said next, but I felt compelled to. Maybe it was that damn glow she had from earlier in the morning? Or maybe age was starting to tame the beast inside of me? Whatever it was, the words came floating out, just as poetic as Shakespeare himself.

"Let me make love to you, Lexi," I whispered, tracing the shell of her ear with the tip of my tongue.

She exhaled and separated her lips, replying with something I hadn’t heard come out of her mouth in years. "I love you, Christian."

I've had hundreds of women tell me they loved me, but there was something in the way she said it—something I couldn’t quite place my finger on.

  LEXI

I couldn't believe what was happening. Was I dreaming? Was this really the same Christian from yesterday? The hard, cold man whom I had grown accustomed to?

I wanted to hug him, but I stopped myself, afraid to move without permission. Gently, he pulled me off the couch and turned me to face him, caressing my cheek with the back of his strong hand.

  "Christian, I—"

"Shhh…" he said, leaning his forehead against mine. "You're so beautiful," he whispered.

  My lids fluttered closed.

"Look at me," he said sternly, pressing his hand on the small of my back.

I opened my eyes and looked into his, immediately lost in the sea of green. "What's going on with you, lately?"

  "What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean." I said, hooking my fingers over his wrist.

"Can't a man caress his wife's cheek without there being an ulterior motive?"

"I'm sure a man could—some other man—with some other wife."

"Why can't you just accept what I'm offering?"

"Because I know you," I replied quietly.

His brows furrowed, his jaw clenched, and I knew I had pushed him too far. "How dare you question my kindness? Haven't I put a roof over your head, and designer clothes on your back?"

  "Yes, but—"

"No! Fuck this. I try to be nice, and this is the aggravation I get?" he snapped, pulling his hand away from me.

"Wait," I called out to him as he turned to walk away.

"I don't wanna hear it, Lexi."

I felt like shit. Here he was, acting exactly how I'd always longed for him to act, and I was a complete bitch in return.

Grabbing at his arm, I begged, "Let's start over."

He glared at me with such intensity as he yanked his arm away; all I could do was accept what I had done and take a step back. Watching as he disappeared around the corner, I shifted my gaze back toward the front door.

"Twenty minutes," I muttered to myself.

  SECOND ROUND

"I'm sorry about last night," I said, sitting at the kitchen table as he walked in from the bedroom.

"I'm only sorry about this morning," he replie
d, pouring himself a cup of coffee.

  "What do you mean?"

"I woke up, and you weren't next to me."

"I thought you wanted to be alone. I always sleep in the guest room after we fight."

He turned and leaned against the counter. "Don't you think the way we've always been doing things hasn't been working?" he asked, taking a sip of the coffee.

"I've never really thought about it."

"I believe we should start thinking about it. I wanna take you somewhere tonight."

  "Tonight?"

  "Somewhere romantic."

"Romantic?" I looked at him in wonderment.

He flashed me a boyish smile, reminding me of the man I married. Returning the smile, I parted my lips, ready to accept his offer of another chance with open arms. Unfortunately, his phone rang, and I knew by the way he looked at the phone it was one of his women.

"Hello," he said, walking out of the room.

I shook my head and crossed my arms, thinking of how close I was to falling for his bullshit. Liam's sultry voice wafted through my mind, reminding me of his offer.

"Twenty minutes," I said under my breath.

  CHRISTIAN

"Yes. I'm going to meet you this morning, then that’s it. I'm done with this," I said over the phone.

"Whatever you say, daddy," Cheryl said sarcastically.

  "I'm serious!" I said sternly.

"I know you are," she replied innocently.

She was playing a game, thinking she was going to get me to change my mind, but I wasn’t. I wanted to put aside all these women. If my wife could be faithful to an asshole like me all these years, then I could certainly try to return the favor.

"Goodbye," I said, slipping the phone back into my pocket, and clearing my throat before I walked back into the kitchen. "So tonight?"

"Aren't you gonna be busy?" she asked with a snarky attitude as she stood from her chair, and made her way to the door.

I snatched her arm. "Don't you walk away from me, little girl."

"Is that how you talk to her?" she asked through gritted teeth.

  "Talk to who?"

"Don't you dare treat me like I'm stupid."

I chuckled. I knew who she was talking about, but knowing and admitting were two different things in the court of law. Something I learned from years of indictments from the DA's office. They could never prove anything, and she couldn’t either.

"I need a yes or no," I demanded, taking another sip of coffee.

"Like you would ever take a no from me." She glared.

"You're right. Tonight then. Be fuckin' ready," I said, slamming my cup into the sink, shattering it into a hundred pieces.

Goddam, this woman is pushing me!

Storming out of the house, I almost changed my mind. Why try so hard for this much grief? Pussy was abundant, and I certainly didn’t need to work this hard for it. I hopped into my SUV and headed to my office to meet Cheryl.

  LEXI

  Me: I'm on my way.

  Liam: Now?

  Me: Now or never.

  Liam: See you soon.

  Me: Twenty minutes.

Liam: If that's all you want.

Taking a deep breath, I picked up my purse and keys and headed for my car. I thought about calling Celia, but I knew she would try and talk me out of it, and I didn’t want to be talked out of anything. Christian did everything he wanted, with whomever he wanted to do it with. It was my turn.

I pulled into the same spot as yesterday, almost like it had been waiting for me—like it knew I would be back. Maybe deep down inside I knew I would be back. After all, a man as fine as Liam didn’t come knocking every day; not after they found out who my husband was.

Strolling through the opulent lobby, I noted the anxiousness I began feeling as I neared the elevator.

"Twenty minutes, twenty minutes," I chimed under my breath as I pushed the up button.

The door slid open to Liam standing in the car, smiling at me.

"How did you know I was down here?"

"I told security to let me know when a beautiful woman walked into the building."

"How many times did they call you?"

  "Just once." He grinned.

Who knows if he was telling the truth, I certainly didn't, but I didn't really care either. I smiled as I stepped into the elevator car and stood next to him; close enough to feel his heat, yet far enough to pretend we weren’t together.

He kept his eyes on the doors. "You look gorgeous today."

"You are quite dashing yourself, sir," I said, keeping up appearances as passenger after passenger, entered and exited the elevator.

The door dinged open to the twenty-third floor.

"Finally," he said, holding out his hand for me to exit first.

Timidly, I stepped off the elevator and waited for him to guide me to his office.

"This way," he said, pressing his dominating hand to the small of my back.

  "Twenty minutes," I reminded him.

He didn’t reply, except to smile as he opened the door to his office. I glanced over my shoulder to his receptionist, who was busy scrawling away on a piece of paper, her name plate catching my eye before I turned my attention back to Liam. Whynter Raven. What an amazing name. I wondered if it were even real. I looked up when I felt a piercing stare burning a hole in my head. We locked eyes. My heart sank when she shot me half a smirk then continued on with her work.

  "Does she know I'm married?"

  "Confidentiality," he whispered.

I exhaled a sigh of relief.

"Have a seat. Do you want a drink?" he asked, making his way to the mini bar in the corner of the room.

  "I supposed a little something wouldn’t hurt," I replied.

"Probably loosen you up. You seem pretty tense."

"I don’t need any loosening, and I like being tense."

"Sure you do," he replied sarcastically.

He finished pouring the amber liquid from a crystal carafe into two glasses, then handed me one of them.

"Scotch, huh?" I asked, holding the glass up to my nose.

"You know your alcohol," he said, leaning up against his desk right in front of my seat, crossing his legs at his ankles.

  "Well, you know, Christian—"

"Nope," he interrupted, uncrossing his legs.

  "Nope what?"

He set his glass down on the desk and leaned over me, resting his palms on the armrests of the chair. The smell of scotch filtered over me as he breathed.

"I'm not wasting my twenty minutes on, Christian," he whispered, grazing his bottom lip over the edge of my ear.

I closed my eyes and exhaled. The electricity from his skin flowed through me, igniting goosebumps in its wake. He kissed my neck as his fingers slid down the length of my arm, nearing my already wet pussy.

  Fuck!

I wanted to stop him. Everything in my brain said to stop him. But the moment he began to kiss his way down my body, nature took over, and my brain no longer had control.

"You taste like heaven," he said between kisses.

"And what does heaven taste like?" I asked, sliding down in the smooth leather chair.

He didn’t reply. Instead, he hooked his finger under the edge of my panties and slid them off; parting my knees once they were around my ankles.

"I think it's been twenty minutes," I exhaled, trying to keep my wits about me.

Who was I kidding? I wanted to give it, just as much as he wanted to take it. I arched my back and slid further down the chair to give him easy access. The moment his tongue touched my clit, I shivered. His hands squeezed the thickness of my thighs, holding me in place as his tongue worked its way in and out of me.

He pulled away and unbuckled the bronze buckle of his belt, removing it from his belt loops.

Folding the worn leather in half, he said, "I’ve heard you have been a bad little girl, and bad little girls need to be punished."

Snapping the belt at my inner thigh,
I winced at the pain, which should have set off warning signals, but I was too enthralled in the moment to notice what kind of trouble I was in. Raising his hand again, he slapped the belt against my soft flesh again, triggering a moan which I'm sure the aggravated receptionist heard from where she was seated.

Good. Hope she's enjoying the show.

"Do you want to leave?" he asked, pacing around the chair.

  "No," I replied quietly.

"But you wanted to leave earlier."

  I didn’t reply.

"Only bad little girls refuse to answer. Stand up," he ordered.

I stood up, a tad frightened, and slightly excited for what was to come. He swept everything off his desk and turned back to me, snaking his arms around my hips.

"Tell me you want me," he demanded.

"I want you. God, I want you," I replied as he plopped me on the desk, pushing my shoulders back onto the smooth, glossy finish.

Pulling a golden square from his pocket, he ripped it open, unzipped his pants, and slid on the condom in one fluid motion.

  That must've taken practice.

Clutching onto my ankles, he raised them above his head, pushing into me as smooth as a ship sliding into port. I bit my lip to hold back a squeal. I wasn't going to let him know he was that good, that fast.

  "Does it feel good?"

  I nodded.

"Do you like me in you?" he asked between passes.

  I nodded again.

"Fuck, Lexi! I can’t do this with you," he said in a tight voice. "I don’t wanna put you in this position."

"What position? Stop being a selfish bastard and give me what we both know I came here for," I said through gritted teeth, still reeling from the intensity of the moment.

He looked at me and shook his head. "Any other woman. Any other woman."

"Any other woman what? Say it!" I stated in a firm voice.

He dropped my ankles to the floor.

"What are you doing?" I asked. "We aren’t done."

He leaned over, his dick still inside me. "I want more than twenty minutes."

"No. These were your terms," I said.

  "So that's your choice?"
