I was born a people pleaser. I want everybody around me to be happy, which includes my clients. Obviously that is impossible, but I still strive to give my very best. Sometimes, though, when I do readings, what the guides are telling me is not as warm and fuzzy and positive as I would like. There are times that I have to tell people what they don’t want to hear. And, every time that happens, it truly breaks my heart. I learned early on, however, that it does no good to tell people what they want to hear instead of what they need to hear. Some may feel that I am not connecting to them, but let me know in six months to a year if that is true or if it is really just tunnel vision. I have to say, however, that those types of readings honestly upset me to the point that I second-guess myself, and second-guess the guides (which they don’t like so well). I want Happily Ever After for everyone, which is a fault of mine. I want to help my clients attain the path to exactly that because I don’t believe it is a faraway land.
We all have free will. One of my favorite quotes hangs in my office: “Destiny is not a matter of chance, but a matter of choice.” We all have a choice to either go on this path or go on that path over there. Or maybe even that one way over there. The point is that our hands are never tied. Some paths are much more difficult to get to, just as Robert Frost writes in “The Road Not Taken.” In my life I choose to blaze my own path, albeit it took me a while to get to that path, and because of that I am not always the fan favorite. I tried the more conservative path of school, corporate life, and the nine-to-five day … it isn’t that I can’t do it; I don’t care to do it. Lazy has never been a word that ever described me. I am continually chopping down my path each moment that I can. You may not physically see the headway that I am making, but it is there. I admit, some days I am more ambitious than others … hey, I’m human … but action of some sort has to be done in order to continue with growth! You will rarely, if ever, come to me for a reading and hear me say that what I “see” is what you will get no matter what. I describe what is down each path for you, be it the one on the left or the one on the right or the one right in front of you. Our lives are not carved in stone. Your future is continuously unfolding with each action that you take right now.
One day when I was talking to my husband about the way I do readings, he explained it best: “Kristy, you are just the piano player, not the songwriter.” How true that is. You are the songwriter of your life; I only tell you what your guides show me. If you don’t like the song that I’m playing (or that another medium or psychic is playing), start writing a new song.
You hear of people chasing their dreams; well, if you truly want your dreams to become a reality, you have to get wet once in a while. Take a chance. Don’t run. Fear of not receiving the desired outcome will get you exactly that—nothing.
There are times when I know that I am trying too hard and that trying results in chasing. Chasing and taking action are two different things in my book, and the best way to determine which is which is by your emotion. Chasing results is that feeling you get when you jog around the block—heart palpitating, sweaty, and out of breath—while action feels confident and you don’t have to get the deodorant out for another round.
I have had my share of roadblocks, but those roadblocks are there for a reason. Those who truly are passionate about their path will find a detour to get to it, or just plow straight through. A way will be found. Others who find roadblocks in their path of vision will give up, and maybe that is a good thing, because if they don’t have the passion to find a way to the other side of that wall, they really don’t belong there. Without passion, you are left with only emptiness.
I named my company Tangled Wishes because so many have dreams and aspirations, but they are often tangled up, much like a mess of Christmas tree lights. Sometimes it takes Soul Work, patience, and believing again in yourself to rediscover that light within and unpack your dreams from storage. And, just like with Christmas lights, you have to plug them in to see if they work and maybe even make adjustments.
Even if we have never met, or never will, know that I believe in you. Now go unpack and create your Happily-After-After.
