Chapter6
Meet Blake Waterman
I fell through the door, it was dark and quiet. I crept in and quietly closed the door behind me. Well, quietly actually meant I slammed it.
I looked at the door and brought my finger up to my lip. "Shh". I laughed I was talking to a door. I narrowed my eyes and tried to focus on the cooker clock. It said 1.30am. I couldn't really make it out as the numbers kept moving. I felt dizzy. I needed my bed. What a weekend?
I made my way to the bedroom banging into everything that got in my way. I pushed the door wide and it slammed into the wall. "Shh". This time I wasn't sure if I was talking to myself or another door.
I staggered over to the bed. She looked like a princess, my princess. I lay down beside her and pulled her into me. She began to stir. I kissed her lips and her eyes opened wide. It took her a few seconds to take me in. she sat up and switched the side lamp on.
"Hey beautiful," I beamed. Her face was cold and her mouth was tight. Whoops!!! She was pissed off. "Had a nice weekend?"
"A nice weekend?" she snorted. "You didn't call!"
Oh yeah, my phone! What had happened to my phone again? I started to search my pockets. Nope, wasn't there. I could tell she was getting angrier with me.
"God, you’re sexy when you frown" my words were a slur.
"BLAKE!" She yelled.
"Shh" I placed a finger over her lips. At least this time I was actually saying it to a person. I giggled and lay down. Great, the room was beginning to spin. Not good.
They both glared down at me. I was surrounded by Georgina's... Wow, this was a whole new experience. I tried to keep my eyes open, but they were refusing my request.
"Why didn't you ring?"
I swallowed. I didn't feel too good. I hope I wasn't going to be sick. I doubt my legs would even get me as far as the bathroom. Oh, it felt good to be in my bed. Wait!! Didn't she ask me something? I rubbed my eyes and tried to think back.
She asked about my phone. Oh yeah, why didn't I call her? You know what, I had no fucking idea.
"I didn't take my charger" I lied, that should do it. "Can we sleep now?"
BANG!!! I fell to the floor. Had she pushed me? Oh, I'll just sleep here.
"Get on the sofa, Blake" she ordered. "I can't bear to be in the same room as you. You don't bother to call me, you wake me up in the middle of the night and you stink. I have work tomorrow" she threw my pillow and it landed on my face. "Get out!"
I scrambled up clutching my pillow. "Why are you being like this?"
She shrugged. "Good night!" With that she switched the light off and lay back down. I stood in the darkness. "SOFA" she screamed.
I left the room and handed for the living area. What did I do wrong? Oh fuck it, I dumped myself on the sofa and was GONE.
BANG!!! CRASH!!! I sat up. My head hurts. BANG!!! CRASH!!! What's with all the noise? It was Georgina. She was dressed for work and making herself some coffee.
I rubbed my face and took in my surroundings. What was I doing on the sofa? I shook my head. Ow, I shouldn't have done that. What was wrong with her? Why was she pissed?
She looked over, her eyes narrowed and mouth tightened. Whatever it was I couldn't deal with it yet. I dropped back into the sofa and began to rub my temples. My head was pounding and her making all that noise was just making it worse. What did I drink last night?
"I'm off to work" I opened my eyes and Georgina was standing before me, holding on to her travel mug. "I hope when I get back you'll have come up with a better excuse for not calling me."
"I was working, Georgina. Plus, my battery died and I didn't take my charger" I groaned.
"You're trying to tell me in the whole Ibiza there wasn't one telephone . . . ANYWHERE!!" She hissed. "You're unbelievable. Remember you have a meeting with Maxwell at one 'o'clock." She turned her nose up. "And wash... You stink!"
"Yes dear" I saluted her. She rolled her eyes and left. Well, that was a warm homecoming!
I ran my hands through my hair. I had to get up, unpack and sort myself out for this meeting. The whole weekend was a blur. I'd never felt so young and carefree before. I had taken some brilliant photos, even if I did say myself. Maxwell was going to be impressed and Veronica was a beautiful woman to photograph. She was creative and didn't mind taking direction. We made a good team.
I placed my hand in my pocket. There it was. I pulled out the phone. ONE TEXT RECEIVED I sighed. I know it was wrong to lie to Georgina, but to tell her that I was having too much fun and forgotten about her. That would just break her heart. I opened the text message...
Hi sweetie. Had an amazing time this weekend. Look forward to working with you again. . . Maybe next time you might wake up and remember.
Miss you,
V xxx
A slight grin appeared on my face. I still didn't have a clue how I woke up in her bed. One moment we and the crew were having drinks in a club. Then the next, I woke up naked beside Veronica. I kept trying to think back to what had happened, but there was nothing. I'd never even seen Veronica in that light before. She had always been like a sister to me.
I did feel guilty, I should have phoned my girl just to see if she okay. It was the guilt, that's why I went out last night and got drunk. I couldn't face coming home and pretending everything was fine. If I knew what went on, it would be easier.
I looked at the text from Veronica again. It was clear something had happened. I've never looked at another woman before. I loved Georgina, she was the woman I wanted to marry and have children with. I always thought I was a decent man, a one woman man. How could I allow myself to take such a risky mistake? To top it all, I would have to face Veronica today with our boss. If he found out that would be me out of a job. I had to speak to Veronica alone later and get my answers. First things first, I did honk. Shower it was.
"Amazing" Maxwell grinned. He looked at another set of photos and nodded. "You did well, Blake. Best I've seen so far." He sat back in his chair then looked to me then Veronica.
"Blake was a delight to work with" she looked over at me and began to flutter her eyelids. "I was thinking, maybe Blake could do all my photo shoots from now." Her hand moved in between my legs and she began to rub me. I coughed, I was glad Maxwell couldn't see over the top of his desk.
"How would you feel about that, Blake?"
I shifted in my seat and smacked her hand away. It was getting warm. I loosened my tie and smoothed down my jacket. My palms were beginning to sweat and I felt uneasy. Veronica hadn't taken her eyes off me since we arrived. What if Maxwell had noticed? Oh shit, now I was getting paranoid. This really wasn't good. I couldn't refuse, could I? No, I was a professional and photography was a passion of mine.
"It would be my pleasure" I said, trying to control myself. "I liked working with Veronica."
She gave a little giggle. "Behave... Blake was the one who came up with most of the ideas. So visual and experiential “Her eyes sparkled, she licked her lips and I noticed her long naked legs clench together. SHIT!!! I looked back at Maxwell. I swear he could sense my fear.
"Good" he nodded. "Right, bear with me." He got out of his seat and left his office.
I glared at Veronica. "What are you doing?" I whispered.
She gave an innocent smile. "I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Yes, you do. What if Maxwell had seen you? My girlfriend works here as well. Stop it, if anyone finds out Veronica we could be me out of jobs. I have more to lose than you do."
She lowered her eyes and pouted. "I'm sorry" she mumbled.
"I hope you don't mind" Maxwell said as he re-entered. "I have asked Miss Dawson to come in and take notes. We will get the terms of your contract sorted before we give the solicitor a call."
My eyes directly landed on Georgina. She looked beautiful. I hadn't taken much notice this morning. I was too wrapped up in my hangover. She was in a pinstripe dress that touched all her curves. Her high heels made her legs look as if they never ended and he
r hair was up in a ponytail. She looked every inch the professional.
She smiled at Maxwell as she took her seat next to him. Her eyes hadn't even met mine. She was still pissed off with me. I looked down at my hands, what a waste of space I am.
I was a useless boyfriend. What sort of boyfriend wouldn't call their girlfriend while they were away? I bet she spent all weekend guarding her phone. I probably spoilt the time she was spending with her mother.
"Right, let's begin." His eyes diverted to Georgina, I didn't like the way he looked at her. I had noticed at my Dad's party. Also the tone of voice he used when he spoke to her. I knew Georgina would never look at another man. It was just natural jealousy. What was I talking about jealousy...? It was nothing to do with jealousy. It was guilt. I was getting paranoid because I had spent the night with another woman and couldn't remember a single thing.
"BLAKE!!" Maxwell yelled. I was lost in my own thoughts. I came back to reality. "Are you with us now?" He raised an eyebrow and I nodded. Georgina put her head down, she was embarrassed with me. Great, I'm doing well today.
"Good . . . .. You will be Veronica's photographer. Therefore you must be available at any moment. Sometimes it may be short noticed. You will be expected to take care of any equipment and be in charge of all photo shoots. I will have to give you a three month trial period, but this is just to protect me and you. How much you looking for salary wise?"
"I can charge up to 250 per hour" I didn't feel comfortable talking about money in a room full of people.
"Really" Veronica giggled. "I think you've been undercharging. He is so modest, isn't he, Georgina?"
“Veronica, please," Maxwell huffed. "How about we do you an annual salary of 25,000? Then review it after the three months trial?"
"Sounds good to me" I didn't really care. I was depressed over Georgina and I was now angry at myself.
"Are you getting all this, Miss Dawson?" He spoke in that tone again – All sweetness and light. Maybe other women found it appealing? By the look of Georgina it didn't affect her. A little grin came to my lip, that’s my girl. She could never fall under another man's charms. Shame, I was weak and didn't deserve a woman like her. I'm scum.
"Yes, Mr Thomas" She stopped writing. "Would you like me to give the solicitor a call and get everything in motion?"
"That would be wonderful, thank you."
"My pleasure," she got up and smiled at him. Her eyes turned to glare at me. I wanted to speak to her, but the look I was getting it was better to keep my mouth shut. I had to talk to Veronica. I had to find out what actually happened. I didn't notice Georgina leave the room.
"Right, we will call that a day."
I left the office. Georgina was sitting at her desk. I walked over – She looked so elegant and dainty. I loved looking after her and giving her everything she wanted. She was petite woman, the first time I met her I just wanted to protect her. I wanted to be her Prince Charming. After this weekend I had failed big time.
"Georgina," I said.
"What?" She snapped.
"Can we talk?"
She looked up. "No! I'm working. Please, just go home and we will talk then." I took that as my cue to leave. I made my way to the lift and Veronica was already stood there waiting.
“Is something wrong?" She asked.
I exhaled and rubbed my face. "You could say that."
The lift pinged and the door open. We both ushered inside. Right, I had to get my answers now. It was safe here. We were alone. I waited for the doors to close and then I spun round to face her.
"What happened between us?"
She began to laugh. "You haven't remembered yet? Oh, Blakie. You can act very stupid at times. We both woke up naked” She gave a suggestive look. “What do grown ups do when they are naked?
"We . . . Made ... Love?" I could barely get the words out.
"Oh no, Blakie" her voice turned husky again. She moved and I moved back. Shit, she had cornered me. Her hands began to trail up and down my chest. She moved closer. "We fucked HARD!!! And you loved every minute of it." Her hand cupped my dick. It made me clench every muscle in my body. "Do you know how much you wanted it?"
I shook my head. I was too stunned to speak. "Your exact words were I'm going to fuck you into the next world." Her free hand slid around and grabbed my arse. "Oh and baby you did."
The lift pinged and she moved away. I was still standing in the corner not sure what had happened. Had I just been the victim of sexual harassment? Of course not, she had just confirmed all my worst fears. I straightened myself out and we left the lift.
"I can't wait till Sunday" she smiled.
I cocked my head to the side and shrugged my shoulders. "What is happening Sunday?"
"We have a shoot planned."
"I can't on Sunday. It's George's birthday."
"Tough, you've verbally agreed your contract." Her eyes lit up. She was enjoying herself. "Bye Blakie." And off she trotted.
I stood stunned. FUCK!!! Great, I was sleeping on the sofa again tonight.
Right everything was set; wine, candles, food and my rehearsed speech. All I needed was Georgina. I looked at the clock. She would be home any minute. Why did I feel nervous? Because I knew George could kick my arse.
The front door opened. "Hey" she groaned, kicking off her shoes and throwing her bag. She wasn't very domesticated. I always cooked and picked up after her. I didn't mind. I loved taking care of my girl. Her eyes locked on the table and a wonderful smile appeared on her lips. She floated over to me. "Oh, Blake. This is wonderful."
"Does the lady want wine?" I showed her the bottle and she nodded like a little child. I poured her glass and handed it to her. "Here, compliments of the prick you live with."
Her eyes lowered and she looked sad. "All you had to do was call." She took her seat at the table. I nodded, she was right I should of never of forgotten about her.
"I know and I really am sorry. I'm such a dickhead. I really don't deserve you, Georgina." I walked over and bent down so we were nose to nose. "I'm sorry, can you forgive me?" I gave a sad face and she gave a little giggle. "That's my girl" I kissed her on the lips in the first time that felt like forever. I'd missed her soft satin lips. "I love you."
She placed her glass on the table and wrapped her arms around my neck. Just her smell and the heat from her body made me convulse with ecstasy. "Please, please, please never do anything like that again" she pleaded.
I pulled away. "I promise, now time for dinner." I fetched the plates from the kitchen and placed in front of Georgina. Her eyes lit up, it was her favourite – jacket potato with beans. She wasn't into all the posh nosh I liked. She preferred the basics.
Her eyes filled with greed, she grabbed her fork and began to tuck in. I took my seat. For a few seconds I just took in the sight of her happiness. I would enjoy this moment a little longer before I gave her the bombshell. I started to eat my own dinner.
"What was it like with your mum?"
She shrugged. "Good. You know my mum" she sighed and carried on eating.
I actually didn't know her mum apart from what Georgina had told me. We had been together two years and I hadn't once met her mother. I wasn't sure who she was more embarrassed about, me or her mum? Maybe she didn't want her two worlds to collide or maybe she was scared I would meet her mother and do a runner.
She had told me before she was scared about people leaving her. I did feel a little bad for my girl. I was the only constant stable person she had in her life. Yet, I still messed up. I could never hurt Georgina. She had been through enough already. I felt the guilt build up inside me. There was no way I could keep anything else from her. I just had to come clean. I put the fork down and took in a deep breath. It was now or never.
"I need to tell you something. You need to know I had no idea until today. If I did I would never have of agreed. You know I love and I will make it up in any way you want." Georgina's fork stood still in mid air. Her mouth was open and her eyes dimmed a
little. "It's just... I have to work on Sunday” I quickly added.
Georgina smiled. "I know" and she carried on eating.
"How do you know?"
"I'm your boss's PA" a smile danced upon her lips. The things she could do with that mouth was amazing.
“What about your birthday?" I asked, my attention forcing back on to the conversation.
"You can spoil me Saturday and then you have to work Sunday to try and pay for everything." She winked. "I want to be treated like a princess."
"Georgina Dawson, you are a princess with no doubt. I will make sure Saturday is the best day of your life." And that was a promise.
CHAPTER 7
Georgina
I glanced at the clock on my computer, not long now and I was going to finally meet Amy at the Grand Café. I was really excited as I hadn't had a girly gossip for a while. My life had just been full of men and work. I began to clean up my desk and get ready to leave.
"See you tomorrow, George" Hannah waved.
"See you tomorrow. The last day we will be working together" I pouted. I had enjoyed our lunchtime chats. Even though it was just me listening to Hannah go on about her pregnancy. From next week it would just be me and Maxwell... Alone!! A twinge of excitement filled my belly.
NO! I had to stop thinking of him in that way. I'd made a promise to myself that I and Maxwell were not going to happen again. I still kept thinking about him and dreaming about him. When he walked into a room I would find myself staring, remembering the feel of his lips on mine and the way he touched my skin. I had even stopped sleeping with Blake. I didn't want to erase Maxwell's touch.
What is wrong with me? Then on the other hand, I kept seeing him kissing Veronica. The more I thought about it the more jealousy took its hold of me. I shook my head, I really had to move on and get on with normal day to day life.
"Georgina," Just the sound of his voice saying my name made me dizzy. He stood up against his door. It must have been dressed down Thursday or something. He was wearing jeans and a white T-shirt. The T-shirt hugged every ripped muscle of his chest, he was a beautiful sight. "Could you come in here for a moment before you leave?" His attention turned to Hannah. "Have a good maternity leave and keep us informed."
