Samantha let go of Adam and bent down to Jonah. “There was a something that I wanted to talk to you about. Adam asked me to marry him.”
“You said yes, right? I want Adam to be my dad now.”
“You don’t have to choose, son. You get to have two dads.” Adam looked Jonah in the eyes. “Do you want me to marry your mother? You’re the man of the house so you get to decide if I can marry her or not.”
Jonah gave them a huge smile. “Really?”
Adam nodded at him. It was clear that Jonah liked having that kind of power. “Jonah, I asked your mother to marry me, and she said yes. Now I’m asking you for permission. May I marry your beautiful mother?”
“I like Adam. I want you to marry him,” Jonah declared, looking at his mother.
“I guess the decision has been made.” Samantha looked at her two men. “What now?”
“I call my aunt,” Adam answered her. “She’ll take care of everything.”
Chapter 14
Adam straightened his tie. He looked down at Jonah and straightened his tie too. “I’ll bet you never thought that you’d need your suit so soon?” Today was Thursday. Aunt Ruth had been able to pull together the wedding in three days.
Jonah slipped his fingers into his shirt and loosened the tie again. “Why do they have to hurt?”
“I’m sorry, son. I didn’t mean to do it so tightly.”
The music started. All of their guests stood up to get a better look at Samantha in her white dress. Mr. Johnson was walking her down the aisle.
“Doesn’t your mother look beautiful?” Adam asked Jonah.
“She always looks like that.”
Adam smiled. “You’re right, son. Still, she takes my breath away each time I see her.”
Samantha smiled at Jonah and took hold of Adam’s hand. They turned, so they were facing the pastor.
“Who gives this woman into wedlock?” he asked.
“I do,” Mr. Johnson called out clearly. He was so proud of the people on the roof with him. He saw Gina and Alexander Adams holding their twin babies and smiling at the couple standing in front of the altar they’d built up next to the pool for this special occasion. Sean was sitting beside his mother.
The Kennedy’s were sitting next to them with Christopher sitting in the middle. He wanted to go swimming with his mother. She took him swimming in the pool every day, and both had a very healthy color.
Eve and Joshua were adjusting the sunbonnet on Cassie’s head. As soon as it sat correctly, she’d pull it off again.
He looked at the O’Brian family. They took up a whole row. They smiled at the couple getting married, and Mr. Johnson could see in their eyes that they were remembering their own wedding.
Mr. Romano was proudly sitting next Ms. Hastings.
Mr. Schmidt was standing by the buffet that he’d made for everyone. He was sneaking cookies to some of the older children.
Then Mr. Johnson’s eyes rested on Todd and Marcy. He had plans to introduce the Clarks to them after the wedding. After all, Marcy worked at an adoption agency.
Samantha and Adam said good night to Jonah. He was going to spend the night with his Aunt Ruth and his three Uncles. So his parents could have the evening to themselves.
“Are you ready for your honeymoon, Mrs. Clark.”
Samantha took hold of his hand and smiled at him. She loved the way that Adam’s eyes were locked on her. They weren’t always locked on her eyes, but they were always on her body, making her feel attractive and making her feel worth marrying.
Adam laid his arm around her waist and whispered into her ear how good the dress looked on her. “You’ll look even better when I take your dress off of you.”
“Really?” she teased him. “That would be new. Last time I was partially dressed,” she whispered back.
“This time you won’t be.” He winked at her and brought her into her apartment. Aunt Ruth had not only planned the wedding, but she also planned where they were going to live afterwards. The upstairs penthouse was being remodeled to accommodate their needs. They’d have a large living area, and he’d have several rooms with amazing lighting so he could paint.
Everything had worked out perfectly.
Adam swooped Samantha into his arms and carried her into the apartment. He closed the door with his foot and carried her directly to the bedroom. Once they were there, he stood her on her feet.
“I have an odd request, but this is something that I’ve wanted to do since I’ve first seen you.” He stood behind her opening the back of her dress and pushing it away from her shoulders.
“What is it?” Samantha asked, remembering the spanking he’d given her. She took a step away from him.
“It’s nothing that odd, really. I want to draw you. It will be a picture only I’ll ever look at. I want you to see how I see you.” Adam removed his jacket and opened up his tie. He pulled it away from his neck. Samantha’s eyes were watching him as if she were mesmerized. He removed his shirt knowing how much she loved his chest.
“I don’t know.” Samantha didn’t feel comfortable with that idea. This was all so new. She was hoping that they’d turn out the lights to make love. Adam opened her corset and freed her upper body. Her breasts spilled out, and she gave a sigh.
Adam’s hands reached around to her front to cup her breasts in his hands. “I want you to see how beautiful I think you are. You have nothing to be ashamed about.”
His hands glided down to her white panties. He pushed them down and thought about what position he should draw her in.
“Adam, I’m not sure.”
“I am. Believe me, one day you’ll be glad to have this picture. You can pull it out and know that I still see you the way you look now.”
“What?” That didn’t make any sense.
“As your husband, this day will be branded in my head. If your hair starts to turn gray, or you put on a little extra weight, I won’t notice because you’ll always look like you do now in my head. If we ever have to be parted, I want to have a picture of you: how I see you.”
Samantha stepped out of her shoes and rolled down her nylons. She stood in front of her husband as nervous as a virgin.
“Lay down on the bed, darling, on your side. Lift up your head and turn your chin to me. Look down, and now move your eyes so you’re looking at me. Smile a little, honey.” He had to grin because she looked so serious.
“This will only take a minute.” His pencil flew over the paper, capturing what he saw in front of him. He loved her curves. In a moment, his hands would be running over those curves.
More quickly than Samantha thought was possible, her husband stood and opened his trousers.
Once he was naked, he joined her in bed. “This time I’m going to make love to you.”
“Are you finished with my picture?” she asked.
“Yes, did you want to see it?”
She nodded. “Are you always that quick?”
“Yes, I was pretending to need more time the first day. I didn’t want to leave you.”
“Do you think it was divine intervention that brought us together?” she asked.
“What else could it have been?” he shrugged.
She looked over the picture and her jaw dropped. “I look beautiful,” she said, surprised.
Adam took a feather out of Jonah’s cap. “You look like you always do,” he told her.
Adam kissed her passionately. He took hold of her face and kissed her everywhere until she giggled liked a little girl. “That’s the sweetest sound in the world. I’m going to protect you and care for you for the rest of your life. You’re safe now.”
Samantha believed him. Her life had taken a one-eighty turn since he entered it. Everything was better with him in her life.
She parted her legs to show him that she was ready for him.
Adam entered her swiftly, taking her breath away.
Samantha wrapped her body around his. Her legs and arms locked his strong hard body into
place. She was under him, but he was her prisoner, and she had no intention of letting him escape.
The room was completely quiet except for Samantha’s gasps for air.
Adam was claiming her as his wife, making her his with every thrust. He swore to himself that he’d be a good husband for her, and that he’d never take her for granted. He’d be there for her when she needed him, and Jonah could count on him too.
Adam was now the head of this family, and he loved the joy it brought into his life.
He made love to Samantha feeling that this was a sacred act between man and wife.
He thrust into her slowly and with great control, letting the pleasure build inside of both of them.
When his wife came in his arms, he watched her, denying himself his release until he’d witnessed the beauty in her face when he given her what she needed.
He came then, filling her with his love for her and her body.
“Please, Adam, never leave me.”
“I promise I won’t.”
“I need you so much. You have no idea how much I love you.”
“I know, I need you just as much. I love you, Samantha. You never have to doubt that.”
Epilogue
Richard Beaumont entered the lobby with a scowl on his face. How dare she keep him waiting?
Mr. Johnson could hardly wait to deliver the news.
“Where’s my son?” Richard demanded.
“He’s upstairs in his apartment, waiting for you to collect him,” Mr. Johnson replied with a smile on his face.
“Again? She’s making me go up there again? She knows I don’t like to do that.”
“Mr. Clark was very clear that he wouldn’t allow his wife to wait down here.”
“What? Who cares about some Mr. Clark?” Richard was getting madder by the second. These people were giving him the runaround. There was no way that he’d let a mere doorman play games with him. “I’d love to complain to your boss about you.”
“I am the boss. I own this building. It’s been mine for years. But let’s not get off track. I was about to explain to you about the Clarks. You already know that the famous painter Adam Clark made a portrait of your ex-wife and son. Apparently, they fell in love. They’re married now. I’m sure you’ll read about it in the society pages. It was very romantic.
“They’re still living in their apartment now, but soon they’ll be moving to the penthouse. Like I said, Mr. Clark won’t allow his wife to wait for hours on end in the lobby for you anymore. A woman in her position can’t be doing such silly things. You understand.”
At first, it was clear from the look on Richard’s face that he didn’t understand, but then he managed to put two and two together. He nodded dumbfounded and went to the elevator.
Mr. Johnson turned and looked over the street. It was the same street he’d been staring at for years, but truth be told, it was his view of choice.
Of course, he could see more and further from the windows of his penthouse apartment, but he couldn’t look people in the eyes from up there. He needed to be down here, making sure that the people he cared about were all well off.
He was exactly where he wanted to be.
