Prince of Killers: A Fog City Novel Page 18

by Layla Reyne

Exposure couldn’t come at a worse time. Hawes’s throne is threatened, and Chris suspects the same person who killed his partner is behind the coup. Working with Hawes benefits them both, but the ATF has other ideas. Dismantling criminal organizations is what Chris does best, and the agency expects their King Slayer to deliver.

But Hawes is taking the Madigans in a new direction, one Chris can get behind, and the two men form a shaky alliance strengthened by the irresistible attraction between them... until Chris learns who killed his partner. Once he knows the truth, the King Slayer is unleashed, and Chris will stop at nothing to destroy those who betrayed him, including the king who stole his heart.

Twists and turns—and cliffhangers—continue in book two of the Fog City Trilogy. Read at your own risk!

Funny story about how this series came to be… I was cruising Wander’s website for cover photos for a different project when I found the shot that will be the cover of Fog City 3. (Tease, I know, I’m sorry!) I was captivated. I had to have that photo. But then my rational author pal, Allison Temple, said, “Nope, you can’t buy the pretties until you have a story to go with them.” A week later, I had the series outlined, the photos purchased, and Fog City was officially a go.

So, first, thank you Wander, and models Patrick and Ryan, for providing such wonderful inspiration. Thank you Cate Ashwood for taking those photos and giving me dance-around-the-room moments every time I opened a cover concept email. Thank you to Allison, and the other two Mooseketeers, Erin McLellan and L.J. Hayward, for your encouragement, insightful beta notes, and all around good cheer. To Cory, Kim, Leslie, Kristi, Keren and Susan, your brainstorming, comments, and feedback were instrumental in getting my vision for Hawes and Dante onto the page. To overlord and PA extraordinaire Leslie Copeland, I could not have done this without you. Your knowledge, patience, and network are amazing, and I’m so so lucky and happy that I found you. And to Hailey, Lucy, May, Annabeth, Aimee, Macy, Charlie, and all the other wonderful authors who have held my hand and shared your time and wisdom as I tackled self-publishing, all my heartfelt gratitude.

And last but not least, thank you, Readers. Thank you for your support of past series, for taking a chance on this new adventure, and for all the joy you bring to my author life. I could not do this without you. And yes, I know you probably want to throw your e-reader after that last line, but I promise, stick with me, and it’ll be worth it. The last line is already written!
