Regina chuckled. Her phone dinged and she glanced at it. She opened the text from Spencer and read it, smiling.
I’ll work on my trust. Won’t do it again. Leave my ring tone alone. :) Crazy woman.
She looked at Julianne. “He’ll get used to your idiosyncrasies.”
“Yep. Like Spencer is to yours. He probably missed that changing your ring tone thing.”
“He did.” She chuckled.
“Come on, ladies. I’ll go with you to this Simply Essential.” Blake shook his head at Keenan. “You reap the benefits of her looking so good. No need to worry about others looking. She won’t let them touch. Trust her.” Blake walked over to them.
“Now, see? Blake you are such a smart man.” Julianne slid her arm into his, looking back at Keenan.
Regina stifled a laugh at Keenan’s sheepish expression. It was good to see the man who was usually so sure of himself realise he was being jealous. It was silly, since Julianne loved him, and before she’d let him in her life, she had been alone for a long time.
“Reggie.” Blake held out his other arm.
She took it and smiled. “Rascal. You’re a troublemaker.”
“I know. But I’m so good at it.” He laughed. “Let’s go, ladies.” He led them out of the terrace door. Regina heard the others following. “Get the ladies’ bags and meet us at the car, Keenan!” Blake called out.
“I’m not liking you much at the moment, Blake!” Keenan yelled.
Regina laughed. The two of them had got along from the start and become great friends. Blake led them to the van he used to transport his wares. He opened the door and they piled in. After closing the door, he jogged around the hood and got in the driver’s seat. Looking through the windshield, Regina saw Keenan as well as Dakota and Byron coming down the steps with their purses. They were bickering. She shook her head at their antics. When they arrived at the van, they all got in, then Blake headed towards the main road. Regina listened absently as Keenan spoke behind her from where he sat next to Julianne.
“I was being a jealous fool.”
“Uh-huh,” she replied. “But you’re my fool.” Julianne paused. “Do it again and you’ll be sorry.”
Keenan laughed then they were silent. Regina peeked and saw them kissing. She faced forward.
“Hey! I’m sitting right here. No groping in the back seat,” Dakota said.
“I’m here too, and you don’t hear me whining,” Rayne, another of her partners, said. “Suck it up. They are in love.”
Regina laughed. She listened to their banter as she planned what she wanted for her date. Spencer hadn’t told her where they were going, but she remembered she’d seen an outfit at the store that she had wanted to get. Now she had an excuse. She hummed as she imagined the look on his face when he saw her.

Regina smoothed the cotton jersey fabric trying to control her excitement as she checked herself one more time in the mirror. The rich green of the halter-top pantsuit complemented her eyes and skin tone. The draped neckline left a tantalising glimpse of the top of her breasts. The gold double necklace with coloured gems placed periodically throughout and matching bracelet on her wrist completed the outfit. She looked down at the hem of the pantsuit which stopped at her ankles, showing off her toes in her opened toed sandals, and her nails. Both were now a pale beige colour with a floral design on them. Regina looked at herself again in the glass and touched the backcomb that held her hair pinned up at one side. It had starburst gems the same green as her clothing. She’d left the rest of her hair down around her shoulders, and she stepped back, liking how her kinky curls moved with her. She lifted her shaking hand then shook it out before placing it over her stomach. Butterflies were dancing in her stomach. She laughed at herself for being so silly. This was a date with her husband—the man she knew almost as well as she knew herself. She rolled her shoulders then breathed out, feeling a sense of rightness settle inside her.
Yep. She was ready for this date. She chuckled, then patted the hidden pockets in the pants suit. She had lipstick, money and her keys. Turning, she headed out of the bedroom then descended the stairs. Spencer must have heard her because he came out of the living room. Regina paused, caught by the look in his eyes. It made her tingle in all the right places. She hadn’t seen such naked desire on his face in a long time.
Someone is getting lucky tonight. She fought a smirk at the thought. So much for his no sex rule. She finished coming down the steps and checked him over. He was in beige—an open necked shirt, partially unbuttoned, leaving a tempting glimpse of his chest visible, and his slacks were slightly loose. Open-toed sandals completed his attire. Spencer met her at the bottom of the stairs.
“Dakota tried to warn me, but you can’t ever be prepared for this.” Spencer held her hand, staring at her. “You’re lovely, Reggie.”
“You too, Spence.” She placed her other hand on his chest, smoothing down his shirt and straightening his collar. “Where are we going?”
“Bella’s.”
“Perfect.” She snuggled against him.
Spencer held her loosely around the waist. Bella’s was perfect for seduction. The supper club was a classy yet comfortable dining establishment. Although reservations were in high demand, Regina figured Spencer had called Bella, the owner, herself. After all, she was family. Bella was Julianne’s cousin. Regina was looking forward to spending the night there, from cocktail hour to the great food, then enjoying the nightclub or live entertainment after dinner. She froze as she thought of dancing with Spencer. Panic set in and she inhaled deeply, trying to calm.
“Reggie? Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.” She stepped back. “Let’s get going.”
Spencer led her across the foyer and out of the front door. She locked up then they went to his car, and in moments were headed out for their night. Regina looked out of the window, wondering if she could dance with him. He was right that she hadn’t danced in a long time.
“Reggie, if you don’t want to go, we don’t have to.”
Pull it together. “No, I want to.” She smiled at him. “How was your day today?”
He studied her in the dim light of the car interior, then spoke. “It was good. Strange being back on the day shift. Lots of new faces.”
Regina listened and asked questions as they chatted, driving towards Bella’s. By the time they arrived at the club, she was in a better frame of mind. They went to the door, bypassing the line of people. They gave the bouncer their names, and he let them enter.
“The line is kind of long for a weekday.” Regina wondered why. “Is there something going on today?”
Bella’s was busy in general, but the line wasn’t usually so long on weekdays.
“No idea.” They approached the hostess.
“Reggie, it’s good to see you again.” She looked at Spencer. “Long time no see, stranger.”
“I missed you too, Khandi.” Spencer tweaked her nose. “You don’t usually man the hostess stand even on nights when it looks as busy as it does tonight.”
“I’m gonna get my husband to beat you up.” Khandi Locke, Bella’s sister, smacked at Spencer’s hand. “And I don’t, but it’s a special night.”
At Khandi’s emphasis on the word and her pointed glance, Regina knew something was up.
“Why is it a special night?” Spencer frowned.
“Enjoy your dinner, Spencer. Now move. You’re blocking my stand.” She waved to a waitress hovering nearby, then shooed them away.
Spencer placed his hand on the small of Regina’s back and guided her. Regina looked back, and Khandi winked and mouthed, “Good luck.” Regina faced forward, stifling a grin. She hadn’t even called, but seems like the family line of helping was working overtime. Spencer had made the reservation, but someone else had called to plot something. Regina didn’t even know what it was, but knowing the Locke family, it was going to be a knock over the head—most likely for Spencer. The waitress sat them at a
booth in the corner, close to the raised stage, then removed a sign on the table that said ‘reserved’. The seats were for family only, or certain people who were family by choice. Regina slid in first and waited for Spencer to join her. When he did, she moved close to him, pressing her leg up against his. Spencer looked at her, studying her face. Regina strove to look innocent.
“I know you didn’t know where you were going, but someone called.” He said the same thing she figured. “I wonder who it was.”
“Does it matter?”
“Nope.” He put his arm over her shoulders and pulled her close.
Regina closed her eyes and thanked God she was here like this with him. She opened them and blinked when she saw the lights had dimmed, which surprised her. Usually, the entertainment was at the end of the evening.
“Tonight, we have something special planned for you.” Bella Locke’s sultry alto voice came just before the light flashed on, illuminating the stage. As usual, she looked devastatingly gorgeous. She glanced at them and winked before focusing on the audience. “Sometimes, love can seem so lost. But when it is true, you don’t ever lose it. Through the pain, you have to Embrace the Love.”
Now she knew why the line was so long. It happened if word got out Bella was singing. Regina stiffened as she heard the title of one of Bella’s biggest selling hits. Driscoll had written it for Bella. Spencer kissed the side of her face, and she relaxed, inhaling his scent.
“Pain overwhelms my soul as I am torn apart.”
The song started the first wrenching notes that made Regina tremble. As Bella sang, she held out her hand towards Spencer. The song started sad, but as the notes played it became a song of renewal. Regina felt every note in her soul and rested deeper against Spencer as it washed over her. He lifted her head to meet her gaze. Bella sang the last lines, seeming almost for them alone.
“As I embrace the love, I am reborn to you.
Take my soul into your keeping and love me whole.”
The last word resonated through the silent room then applause broke out throughout the area. Regina blinked, and Spencer shook his head, looking away. She frowned, gripping his hand. He returned the hold and she smiled, hoping by the end of the night they would end their date on a high note. She listened as Bella sang another song, and this one was of desire and giving yourself over to it. Spencer stiffened and Regina stifled a chuckle. She glanced towards the stage. Bella was looking directly at them as she crooned the words, using her smoky voice expertly, weaving it for seduction. Regina blew her a kiss. Bella returned it, then prowled along the stage moving with the music, rolling her hips in a carnal motion. Regina could feel Spencer staring but refused to look at him. Let the need build. She shifted as she moistened and fought rubbing her legs together. She wanted him, and tonight she would have him. No one did ‘take me and lay me out’ songs better than Bella. And Regina was going to reap the benefits of her pouring out all that sexuality. Yes, she would have to find a special way to thank Bella for her help.

Later, Regina entered the house feeling Spencer at her back. They hadn’t said a word since leaving Bella’s. The sexual tension Regina felt between them was the one she craved. She paused by the stairs and waited for him to close the door and set the alarm. When she heard that familiar beep, her pulse increased, and she got even wetter. The tread of Spencer’s steps as he approached echoed as he came closer. Her heart seemed to beat with each step. Spencer touched her bare back just above the waist and she shivered, already primed and ready for him.
“Night, Reggie,” he whispered, then patted her back and passed her going up the stairs.
Disbelief made her stare after him. Then she spoke. “You’re going to bed?”
“Yes. Alone,” he said firmly. “Sleep well, Reggie.”
He reached the landing and went towards the guest room. Regina gripped the railing and shook her head. No, he did not just leave me here alone and horny. She marched up the steps, then paused on the landing, staring down the hall to where he was staying. The door was closed and the lights out. She knew there was no way he had undressed and gone to bed that quickly. He was sending her a message. One she didn’t appreciate. Fury filled her, mixing with her need. Regina turned on her heels and went to the master bedroom. She turned off the hall light, then looked around at the comfortable oasis lit by the night lights throughout the room they had made together. Yet it was empty of her other half. Her shoulders slumped, and she went to the adjoining bathroom and turned on the light before stripping. She took a quick shower and when she got out, she towelled off then reached for her nightgown. She changed her mind and left it, going out and turning off the light, then going to the bedroom door and opening it partially. She knew Spencer, and he’d do as he had done every night since they’d got back together. Even in their worst moments he would do it.
Regina went back to the bed and sprawled naked in the centre. She opened her legs and ran her hand down her chest. She played with her nipples, moaning as she tweaked them. Unconsciously, she closed her eyes as she revelled in her touch. It wasn’t the hand she wanted on her, but it would do for now. Hearing a whisper of a groan, she slanted open her eyes and saw him standing in the shadows of the doorway. Regina licked her lips then moved her hand lower over her stomach. She touched along the top of her bare mound, then down, moving in slow motions. She heard another groan that was again quickly cut off. Widening her legs, she slid her fingers just on the top of her pussy lips. Whimpering, Regina shivered, then used her fingers to spread herself open. She hoped he could see her, wet and needing him.
She plucked at her hardened clit, stroking it firmly in a motion she knew he liked to use when he licked her.
“Please.” The whispered word was so quiet, it was almost as if she’d imagined it, but she knew she hadn’t.
Moving her hands lower, she sank three fingers inside her pussy and rocked against them.
“Yes,” she moaned loudly, her body aflame.
She rubbed her thumb on her clit and plunged her fingers in and out quickly, striving for release. Regina clenched her ass and rocked into her hand. She pushed faster, wanting so much more.
Shaking, she gritted out, “Ahhhh…” She breathed harder as she moved with her touch, imagining it was him touching her, tasting her, sharing this with her. She stiffened as the ball of need filled her belly then splinted, driving her over into release. “Spencer!” she screamed, coming and continuing her caress. “Come to me, Spencer,” she demanded.
She stilled, then slowly pulled her damp fingers from inside her pussy. She opened her eyes and licked her fingers clean, focusing on them as she did so. Regina stared at the empty doorway and frowned. She sat up, disbelief filling her. She knew he had been there. Glancing lower, she noticed the bottle of water on the floor and she smiled, lying back down. Yeah, he’d been there all right. He’d gone to get a bottle of water and brought one for her. Just as he did every night. Regina turned on her side, facing the blinds covering the glass door that led to the balcony. Spencer was stubborn, but she was more determined. It was only a matter of time.
Spencer stumbled down the hall, gripping the bottle of water. He could swear Regina had known he was there. But that wasn’t possible. She hadn’t known as she’d touched herself, stroked over that lush flesh that he knew the taste of, even if he hadn’t had it in a long time. It had been as if he were the one touching her—the taste of her was in his mouth, even though he hadn’t dared go near to even take one lick. He entered his room then closed the door, pressing his back against it and dropping the water bottle on the floor.
He reached into his boxers and hissed as he pulled out his cock. He was so hard, ready to explode. Spencer rubbed his thumb over the head, spreading the slick pre-cum over it as he tugged. He stroked his hand up and down his shaft firmly.
“Reggie,” he whispered as he pulled on his erection.
Moving his hand faster, he flashed to how she’d looked all spread out and wanting
him. Spencer curled his toes and jerked quicker, rocking his hips back and forth into his clenched fist. Spencer arched, moaning as his release blasted through him. His legs gave out and he fell to his knees on the floor as his seed pulsed out of him, drenching his belly and spilling onto the floor.
“Reggie.” Spencer slumped back on the door, moving his hand, prolonging his release.
He removed his hand from his now soft shaft, blowing out a breath as he tried to slow his racing heart. Spencer glanced at his sticky stomach and the floor, then shook his head.
“I’m so screwed.” He chuckled. “No sex. Who was I kidding? Telling Reggie that was like waving a red flag in front of a bull.” He was silent for a while as he waited for his legs to hold him, then rose.
Tomorrow is another day, and I will not give in and have sex with my wife.
You’re an idiot. That infernal inner voice that sounded like Driscoll was very right. He was an idiot, and he didn’t even deny it. But he was stubborn, and would resist the temptation that was Reggie Jacobs. His wife was a sneaky woman, but he knew how to handle her.
Chapter Four
Spencer descended the stairs the next morning before going into the kitchen and stopping in the doorway. Regina blew on the top of her steaming mug that he assumed contained her favourite vanilla tea. The way her lips were pursed made him think of where she could put them to really good use. Spencer bit back a curse as he went hard. Regina turned her head, lifting her gaze. The look in her green eyes gave him a shiver of fear and desire. Regina put down her cup and stood. She strolled towards him, moving with an innate rhythm he’d always found so intoxicating. She stepped into him, pressing close. Automatically, he placed his hands on her hips.
“Had a nice sleep, Spencer.”
Although it wasn’t a question, he answered. “Yes.” He cleared his throat. “It was very restful.”
“I bet.” She studied him, then smiled. “After the show you had.”
