The Bridesmaid's Secret Page 18

by Fiona Harper

‘I know,’ Romano replied, in that mock-serious voice of his. ‘It would be a terrible waste if we didn’t do it again. It’s practically our duty to the world…’

Jackie turned to look at him. ‘Are you saying what I think you’re saying?’

Romano took the glass out of Jackie’s hand and placed it on the stone balustrade with his own, then pulled her close and kissed her.

  ‘I certainly am.’

She looped her arms around his neck and pulled him close, kissed him in a way that showed just how much she agreed. ‘I love you, Romano.’

‘You know what I love?’ he said, surprising her by pulling back and giving her a cheeky grin.

  She shook her head.

‘That, although you wouldn’t allow me to design your dress—and I was cross about that at first.’

Jackie let out a shocked chuckle. ‘Cross? You pouted like a two-year-old!’

He shrugged her comment off. ‘No matter. My father has outdone himself. I have never seen you look so breathtaking.’ He pulled her close and started to kiss her neck, bunch the silk taffeta up with his hands. ‘What I really love, Signora Puccini,’ he whispered in her ear, ‘is that tonight, I get to undress you.’ His fingers toyed with the top button on a row down her spine that seemed to go on for ever.

Jackie just laughed softly and wiggled closer to give him better access.

  ‘You’re incorrigible,’ she whispered back.

‘Oh, yes,’ he said as he gently bit her ear lobe. ‘And that is just the way you like me.’
