She slammed the chart down on the table with frustration causing me to jump.
“Sorry,” she whispered. “The chart says she was never pregnant.”
Christy moved, and I turned back to her. I was pissed. How could she be so fucked up in the head and I never saw the signs. She harassed me. Harassed Spencer. Faked a pregnancy and tried to kill Spencer.
Christy’s eyes opened, and when she saw us standing there, she started to scream. I reached down and covered her mouth. There was no way I was going to leave without giving her a piece of my mind.
“We’re not here to hurt you, Christy. I just want some answers from you—some honest answers,” I said. “When I remove my hand, do you promise not to scream?”
Christy slowly nodded her head and looked over to Spencer. Spencer was glaring at her—she was pissed, too. I didn’t blame her. I removed my hand from her mouth and she didn't scream.
“We won't be long. I just want to know why you faked the pregnancy,” I snapped.
“I...I thought I could get you back,” she whispered with a hoarse voice.
“But you were never pregnant. Didn't you think I would have noticed?”
“I was... I was going to pretend to have a miscarriage once we got back together.”
“We were never going to get back together.”
“I finally realized that.” Christy’s head drooped dejectedly.
“And that is why you tried to kill Spencer?”
She paused and swallowed hard before answering. “Yes.”
“You are really fucked up in the head, you know that?” Christy started to cry. “We will see you at your trial, Christy,” I said and turned to walk out the door.
Spencer tugged on my hand causing me to stop. She turned back to Christy. “I just have one question. How did you get the ultrasound?”
She didn't respond at first. Then finally she spoke, “My friend works for the doctor's office. She printed someone else's ultrasound and gave it to me.”
I snorted in disgust, then tugged Spencer as we left the room not saying another word to her.
*~*~*
I received a call that it was okay to return to my condo. My bloody condo. We drove straight there. I wanted to make sure everything was locked up, nothing was stolen, and see how bad the damage was from Christy’s blood seeping into my hardwood floor.
I removed the tape and unlocked the door. We both paused. “Are you sure you want to see this?” I asked.
“No, but we are here. We need to clean it up and move on.”
“Baby, you don't have to be strong all the time. I can clean it up.”
“I know. It's okay, I can handle it.”
We scrubbed that floor for over an hour. Soap and water wasn’t cutting it. My floor was already ruined from Christy’s blood, and I didn’t think soap and water could hurt it even more. I didn’t know how to get blood up. No matter how much we scrubbed, the circle from the blood was still engraved in the wood.
I was tired. I needed a break, and I needed to wrap my arms around Spencer. I needed her to move in with me so I could take care of her—forever. I grabbed her hand, bringing her to my couch.
“I'm going to call someone and have them come and clean it tomorrow.”
“Okay,” she said leaning into my side. I knew she was tired. She had to be more exhausted than I was—mentally and physically.
“The hour that we have been here has been killing me inside. All I can picture is the story you told me about what Christy did and then seeing her body laying at the bottom of the stairs.”
“Me, too,” she whispered.
“I... I want to sell this condo and move,” I said.
“Okay, I completely understand.”
“I want us to buy a place together. Move in with me?”

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
First, as always, I’d like to thank my husband for supporting me on this journey. You’re my rock, my world, and my heart. I love you, you know?
To my Mom, thank you for becoming my assistant and learning the ropes of the biz. I love that we’re able to travel and spend so much time together. I wouldn’t change it or who my assistant is.
To my BFFL, Audrey Harte, why didn’t we start bringing Fireball with us to signings sooner than this? You know that would have come in handy at a few of them, lol. Thank you for always having my back. When are we going to Cheesecake and Burke Williams????
To my betas, Brandi Flanagan, Felicia Castillo, Gina Whitney, Jasmine Stells, Kerri McLaughlin, Lisa Survillas, Loralee Bergeson, Michele Hollenbeck, Stacey Nickleson and Trista Cox Ward, thank you. Thank you for loving Brandon and Spencer so much that you took the time to help me with his POV. It really means a lot to have fans like all of you!
To Liz Christensen with E. Marie Photography, thank you for finding David and Rachael for the covers of not only Finding Spencer, but all of the books in the series. I think we make an excellent team and can’t wait to work more with you in the future!
Dr. Santa Lucia aka David, thank you for being 1000% committed to doing the shoot for the B&S covers. I still feel bad you couldn’t have a drink in Vegas. I owe you. I’ll buy you a few if we ever make it to Vegas together. Can’t wait to become traveling buddies!
Rachael, I’ll be checking my mailbox daily and I want to be invited to the bachelorette party!
