  END OF BOOK STUFF

Originally, I planned to write a little novella for Imogen because I felt kind of bad that Stef and Roxy had got their happy endings and she was still single. But she and Malachi turned out to be more complex than I ever thought they would be, then Morton Seacroft schlepped in, Emmy got involved, and Lead became a novel. A novel about second chances. Most people deserve a second chance, and if somebody makes the effort to change their life for the better, then a helping hand can work wonders.

The “bad dates” thing was inspired by a Twitter post. I’m guilty of wasting far too much time on there when I should be working, but for once, it paid off. A guy listed the overly intrusive questions he asked girls on a first date to weed out those he felt were unworthy, and the general consensus was “what a dick.” So I thought it would be fun to have Imogen have dinner with a man just like him. Plus a bunch of other assholes before someone took pity and set her up with Malachi.

And Storm turned up again. She’s not even supposed to be in this series right now, but she and Emmy seem to get on quite well so I figured I’d let her have a few words, lol. She’ll be back later in the Blackstone House saga.

I’m writing this in the middle of February, and by the time you read it, Britain will have Brexited. Or not, who knows? I rarely comment on politics, but honestly, what a bloody mess everything is right now. Nobody seems to know what’s going on, least of all the people in charge. It’s times like this I’m really happy I’ve got a fictional world to escape into! My TBR list is long, and I’m off to stock up on hot chocolate, yoga pants, and possibly a beanbag chair.

See you on the other side!
