Then He Showed Up Page 29

by Chris Campillo

Kate turned to see a devious look in Jack’s eyes. “Woman, have I ever told you how much I like you in a suit?”

“Yes. Now I’ve got to go.”

“Come here.” Jack pulled her over to his desk. He moved behind her, kissing her neck. Tilting her head to give him better access, Kate reconsidered her appointment.

“Do you remember that day the bee stung you?” He worked his hands around to her breasts. She moaned and nodded.

“I’m going to do what I wanted to then.” Jack bent her forward, and Kate gasped, then giggled.

“I’ll never get tired of that laugh,” he said, lifting her skirt.

Screw the fitting. She could always wear a belt.

Thank you, dear reader, for selecting this book and sharing the story with me. I so hope you enjoyed it. If you did, please leave a review on Amazon so that other readers may discover it.

This book has been a long journey guided by so many kind and talented souls. It wouldn’t have made it to print without the love, wisdom, and generous spirits of the many brilliant members of The Austin Romance Writers of America. The world would be a perfect place if we all had such positive support. Each one of you has provided something that started and kept me on this path.

To my Golden Heart Sisters of 2011, you are an amazing group of gifted and hilarious women. Thanks for always being just an email away.

Jamie Burton, you were there at the beginning, tough love and all, but you also gave me hope in my talent, and for that I’ll forever be grateful.

Laurie Kellogg, thank you for all your time and encouragement during this journey into self-publishing. Your talent, success, and always-willing-to-help attitude have truly been an inspiration.

Kristin Fischer, my dear friend. You made this book come to fruition. You showed me success happens no matter what path you take. Even though you’re younger, I hope to be you when I grow up. Your calm presence, experience, faith, and wisdom made this publication possible without the use of Xanax.

Joann Danielson, thank you for being my writing muse during the day and my beta reader even on vacation. You are an amazing educator and artist.

My aunt, Beverly Sword – YFA, thanks for all your help in the early stages and tolerating my love of contractions.

My mother, Elaine Cherches, I give you grief about all the advice you share, but I’ve never doubted your love for us. Your view of my talent is way over the top, but it’s been a blessing knowing you’re always routing for me.

All women deserve a sister like mine. Karen Zizzo, I love you. Your intelligence and beauty are second only to your loyalty. Thanks for always having my back and believing in me and my abilities. I hope I’m still making you laugh when we’re roomies in the home.

Madeline and Charlie, you make life rich. And my stories, too. You are in so many pieces of this work. Thanks for the pictures, T-shirts, and even that “one song” that kept me going with this book. I’m thrilled we get to share this moment.

Fred, my anonymous man, you make it all happen. Every woman should be so lucky. Thank you for supporting me, pushing me, and celebrating with me. Our life can be crazy, but sharing it with you makes it so very, very good.

  About the Author

Author and award-winning writer Chris Campillo sees a romance story in every situation, just ask her family and friends. When she’s not writing happily ever afters, she’s still creating—be it a movie that goes straight to DVD or a distress-framed chalkboard. (Recipients of the latter discourage her from pursuing that hobby.)

She lives in Texas with the world’s most patient husband, two hilarious and very talented kids, and a tiny cat that somehow hogs the bed. Occasionally, she gets a wild hair and performs standup under her stage name, Pepper McCormick.

Chris loves to hear from readers, so please contact her at www.chriscampillo.com or visit her at facebook.com/Author-Chris-Campillo.
