Her head tilted back, and tears filled her eyes. A soft smile tilted her full lips. “I’d like that,” she whispered. “I’d like that a lot.”
Epilogue
Sleet pelted the bedroom window as the wind howled outside. Across the room, Monica’s pristine white wedding dress lay draped over a chair, witness to the night of lovemaking that still had her body humming with arousal. Seth stirred next to her, grumbling something in his sleep while he pulled her closer, resting his hand on her ass. He was hard, lifting the sheets at his waist. It brought a grin to her lips. He was insatiable, and so was she. Draping her leg over his, Monica sighed happily and snuggled her cheek against his chest.
Five months had passed since the night of the ball. In that time, things had changed drastically. The kids were both doing well in their senior year of school, and loving their new lives. Now eighteen, hanging out with friends and catching up on all the things they had missed out on took up most of their time, and Monica loved watching them come out of their shells. Sarah was dating a nice boy from her class, and Jack was enjoying making the poor kid’s life miserable with threats of bodily harm if he hurt her in any way. It was the focus of every conversation between the two, but Monica knew that Sarah appreciated it.
Seeing Jack grow up before her eyes was amazing. With Seth’s nurturing, Jack had turned into quite the gentleman, and even worked part time at an auto body shop in town.
They had bought a new acreage, one devoid of negative memories and hurt. It was necessary for their well-being to live somewhere that they could call home without thinking about the past. The four-bedroom farmhouse was just that, and more.
And now she was married to the man of her dreams. Seth had given her a beautiful wedding, and although it was small, she didn’t care. Seeing Seth waiting at the end of the aisle for her was the single best thing she’d ever experienced. Well, almost. The news they’d received four months before had been a shock, but they were beyond thrilled for what the future held for them. Smiling softly, Monica closed her eyes and reveled in the love she felt for Seth, for her family, her newfound life, and now…the tiny being growing within her.
