by Liz Nugent
Lucy Nugent assisted in all matters medical. Aisling Roche generously helped me with information pertaining to goat breeding, and painter Josephine Geaney advised me on painting technique and vocabulary.
Once again, Eileen Conway offered her assistance on all matters relating to adoption, and State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy answered my gruesome questions about corpses. Fellow writer Margaret Scott advised me on stock markets, investments and insider trading.
Massimilliano Roveri helped me to write as an Italian in broken English, and Niamh Ní Charra told me of some forgotten Irish funeral traditions.
Many thanks to the Ireland Funds of Monaco and the Princess Grace Irish Library in Monaco for awarding me a residency there in September 2016, and particularly to Judith Gantley, who took me under her wing and made me feel at home.
Thanks always to the Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annghmakerrig for providing space, time, food, comfort and stimulating company in beautiful surroundings.
I am blessed to have so many brilliant women in my personal and professional life who have encouraged me every step of the way. Our coven grows but we use our collective power for good. You know who you are.
Thanks also to Conor Creamer, who I expect will outsell me any day now, to Madeleine O’Connell, who is one of my favourite readers, and to Sophie and Robert Nugent, who are wonderful niblings and great company at the theatre.
Thank you to readers, reviewers, fellow writers, booksellers, librarians, hard-working bloggers and publishers everywhere. Big thanks to the Dead Good team for all the work they do supporting us crime writers.
My family and in-laws mean everything to me and their support is undimmed. I love them all, as I do my husband, Richard McCullough, who has finally come around to the idea that writers don’t have to get dressed every day.
