  Taking Tinkerbell’s hand, I feel my grin spread across my face as we walk down the hospital corridor. I can feel her infectious excitement as we near the door to Sadie’s room. Knocking I listen and hear Jake’s voice shout come in.

  Pushing open the door I see my brother, sitting in a chair next to his wife who is lying in bed looking beautiful. Maisy is sitting on Jake’s knee and in his arms is a tiny blue bundle. I feel Tinkerbell squeeze my hand and turn to see the stunning look of awe on her face as she looks at Sadie, who is holding a pink bundle.

  “Uncle Jacky, I’m a big sister. Look!” She points at her baby brother and sister proudly. We move closer and I peer down at my nephew, his little face is pink, and he looks so content in his father’s arms.

  “He is beautiful guys,” I say and a feeling of almost jealousy sweeps through me. I want this, I want to hold my son or daughter in my arms. My eyes move to Ashley and she looks as enthralled as I do as she sits on the bed and coo’s over my new niece.

  I didn’t think when I told her I loved months ago that I could love her more, but now I realise that I do. Every day we spend together I fall just a little bit more in love until I think my heart will burst.

  “Would you like to hold him?” Jake asks, and I smile and hold my arms out as I take a seat beside him. Jake gently places the baby in my arms and I feel love for this precious child envelope me.

  Ashley is taking Jakes seat as he places my baby niece in her arms. She is the epitome of perfection and beauty as she gazes down at the baby in her arms and for just a second, I see us doing this.

  This is us. As she looks up and catches my eyes with her radiant smile I know that this is what I want for the rest of my life. A life filled with loving her and any family we make, filling each day with the love we share. Smiling back at her I wink, and she laughs at me with sheer delight.

  “They are beautiful, Sadie,” Tinkerbell says but Jake interrupts.

  “Hey, I had something to do with it.”

  Ashley rolls her eyes at him and laughs again her infectious laughter making Maisy giggle.

  “Daddy, Aunty Ashley didn’t mean that silly.”

  “Yeah, silly. I meant they are beautiful to both of you, but let’s face it, Sadie did the hard bit.”

  Jake walks to his wife and sits on the bed beside her. The way he looks at her as he moves around her and kisses her temple is so tender that I hear Ashley catch her breath. “Yes, she did, she is amazing,”

  “Awe, thank you, baby,” Sadie replies as she leans into him, resting her head on his shoulder.

  We visit for a bit before we see Sadie yawn, then we offer to take Maisy back to the shop for a while and then home to our place until Jake fetches her. Ashley moved in with me not long after the attack.

  It was partly that she didn’t like being there, but mostly that we hated being apart. Her brother has moved in above the shop, so it has worked out well for everyone. Now it was a regular occurrence to find Ashley and Taylor trying out new recipes in my kitchen.

  Later that day I watch as Maisy and Ashley bake cakes for the shop. Tinkerbell has a new range of cupcakes with all the decoration designed from drawings Maisy made. An idea starts to form in my head, but I’m going to need help.

  One Month Later

  “Um you can bring me to work every day,” she grins and moves to unlock the door to the shop.

  Opening it she switches the lights on and stops dead in her tracks, a gasp escaping her mouth as she slaps a hand over it. In front of her are hundreds of cupcakes, each one with the same design. In the middle is a four-tier wedding cake with the words Marry Me, Tinkerbell on it.

  I take out the 2-carat pink diamond ring I have in my pocket and drop to my knee as she spins around, her eyes are glistening with tears as she looks at me.

  “Tinkerbell, since the day I met you, you have changed my life. You fill my life with colour, you pulled me into the light and made me see that love is a gift and loving the right person can change a person for the better. I am a better man for loving you, you make me want to be a better man, one who is worthy of the love you give me. Will you spend your life with me, will you let me grow old beside you as we watch our childre
n grow?”

  My heart is pounding so hard as I watch the expressions move over her face, before the most radiant smile I have ever seen lights up her face.

  “Yes, yes, yes, Jackson. I will marry you,” she says as she launches herself at me, so that we both land on the floor. She kisses me hard, and I know that now with her my life is complete.

  Five Years Later

  “But please, daddy, you said I was your princess.” I smile down at my three-year-old daughter who is sitting on my knee trying to persuade me that she neeeeeds pink hair and pretty pictures on her arms.

  “I know, Lola, but you’re beautiful as you are.”

  She tilts her little head and her soft blonde curls bounce, as she regards me with eyes the exact same shade as her mothers. “Was mummy not beautiful before she had pictures?” she asks sadly.

  “Your mummy has always been beautiful and will always be beautiful just like you,” I say bumping my nose against her little button nose.

  “Can I get a baby sister instead then?”

  I laugh a huge belly laugh and then tickle her until she is screaming with laughter. “You little minx,” I say knowing that it was what she wanted all along. “Maybe one day we can get you a baby sister,” I say. Lola jumps up and races outside as I follow her, her pink dress is flapping behind her, her tiny feet in little pink flowery boots. She runs to her mother who is helping my mother in the garden. Tinkerbell catches Lola as she throws herself at her mother, a look of love passes her face as they laugh together.

  Lola is the love of my life as is her mother. I had thought that I couldn’t be happier than the day Tinkerbell agreed to marry me but every day she proves I can. Today is no different, she looks up and a secret smile crosses her luscious lips. Her eyes are hungry as they travel over me and I feel my blood heat with need for her.

  I can’t wait until tonight when we are home and Lola is sleeping soundly in her pink bedroom. Then I’ll remind the woman I love how much I own her body.
