Lizzie's Wish Page 8

by Adele Geras

Almost the best thing about writing a book is being able to create a place for the characters to live in. The notion of having three books each set in the same place at different historical times was one that really appealed to me. Even more, it was the chance to work with two of the best children’s writers around, who also happen to be friends. Writing is a lonely business and it was good to have someone who understood all the problems and could share the process of putting the story together. I’ve set my story just after the Crimean War, during the reign of Queen Victoria. I liked the idea of planting a seed in my book which Linda and Ann could develop in theirs.

I hope that everyone who reads my book will go on to see what happens in Number 6 Chelsea Walk as the years go by.
