Never Should Have Loved You Page 5

I kept giving Lisa’s pussy the works until my tongue got tired and my dick was ready to feel her. I pushed her down on my dick and I saw the look in her face that she was shocked that my shit was so thick. I kissed her with her cum in my mouth and she didn’t give a shit, which was something Naomi would have never let me do. I rocked her pussy, pushing her up and down on my dick, gripping her ass and making it bounce like a hydraulic. I had to calm down because the wet sounds that her pussy was making was getting to loud.

Lisa was loving every minute of my dick. Her eyes were rolled in the back of her head and I was so deep in her pussy I could feel her heart beat. Her titties were in my face and I sucked on her nipples like they were my dinner. She rode my dick until we both came… and I made sure to cum in her. I didn’t give a fuck. I would buy her a Plan B pill in the morning. I just had to make sure that she was fucking with me…that her loyalty would be to me. Her friendship with Naomi was over. I needed Lisa for what I was trying to do. She was going to be the perfect piece of my puzzle to get out of my marriage with Naomi. Lisa belonged to me.

  Jerome

  Friday Morning

It was morning and I needed a car to get around. I was in a taxi on my way to my mother’s house to use her car while mine was in the shop getting fixed. What Whitney did to my car was fucked up, but she was right; the way I dragged her out of my house was more fucked up and I knew that. I just didn’t need Whitney around messing up what Naomi and I had going on. Still Whitney didn’t deserve to be mistreated, but neither did my car.

I was dressed in a pair of cargo shorts with a black tee and sneakers. I had called off of work because I knew I wasn’t going to be able to make it in not just because I didn’t have my car, but because I was just feeling the stress of everything. I got out of the taxi and paid the driver. I hadn’t been to see my mom in forever because I didn’t fuck with her like that; she always had some negative shit to say to me. Let’s just say I wasn’t her favorite person in the world, but I still had the key to her house because she wasn’t as mobile as she used to be since she had been battling lung cancer. I walked up to the front door, put the key in to open it and walked inside.

“Yo mom,” I called out. “It’s me Jerome,” I said announcing myself so she wouldn’t think somebody was breaking in.

“Whaaat,” I heard a faint and shaky voice coming from the bedroom. I walked back toward her room and saw my mama in the bed with oxygen tubes in her nose and some other machines around her. She had lost so much weight and her frail frame was just bones, wrapped in wrinkled brown skin.

“Dag mom. What’s going on? How are you?” I said still in shock from her appearance. The last time I saw her, she had just been diagnosed with lung cancer so she still looked like her normal self. She had Jerry Springer playing on the TV, her favorite show. I remembered her always watching it when I was growing up.

“Jerome?” she asked looking at me like she barely recognized me.

“Yeah mama, it’s me,” I said reaching to hold her hand, but she snatched her hand away.

“What are you doing here?” she asked, but I could still hear the never ending resentment toward me in her voice.

“I came by to see you mama.”

“Boy, no you didn’t. What you here fo’?”

Damn, even with the cancer she still the same, I thought. As I stared at the episode of Jerry Springer for a moment, watching a midget get beat up by a normal sized man, it kind of reminded me of Whitney and my car.

“Look mama, I need to use your car for a little,” I told her being straight up with her since she wasn’t in the mood for small talk; at least not from me anyway.

“My car? Boy no. My nurse uses it to take me to the park.”

“You can get out of the bed?” I asked, but I knew soon as the words left my lips that they had come out wrong. She turned her head with the little neck movement she had, to give me the meanest look she could manage.

“Nigga you don’t come see me! What the hell do you…you—” she started having a coughing fit. Coughing uncontrollably. She started waving her hand at me.

“What do you need me to get you? What do you want me to do?” I asked in a slight panic, but she kept on coughing until she eventually stopped.

“Your wife called me,” she mumbled out.

“For what? I didn’t know you two even talked?”

“We talk all the time. She always comes by to see me. She tells me you all just signed divorce papers. Now what you go and do that for?” she said sounding agitated.

  “Huh? Man mama, it’s complicated.”

“Ain’t no complicated boy. You giving up a good thing for no reason. The bible says a man who finds a wife finds a good thing.”

“You only know her side of things, mama.”

“Yeah, but I know you and I know you wouldn’t know a good thing if it hit you across the face with a baseball bat.”

“What you mean baseball bat?” I was guessing Whitney had ran her mouth about my car.

“Whitney told me what she did to your car. Now you come over here trying to use my shit. Boy, you ain’t got right good sense.”

“Mama how you gonna just take her side without even knowing my side of the story?”

Just hearing my mom taking Whitney side was pissing me off in ways that were unreal. She never took my side on shit, and the fact that Whitney had been running her mouth to my moms irritated me even more considering the fact Whit knew that me and my moms had a bad relationship.

“Because you wrong!” she snapped, but not without another coughing fit. “Go—go get me my medicine; it’s in the kitchen.”

I huffed and went to the kitchen to get her medicine. Pictures of my pops lined the living room mantel; I looked away from them. I could never look at them and I would never be able to look at them for as long as I lived. I found my mom’s medicine and was headed back to her bedroom, when the sounds of keys jiggling in the front door’s opening stopped me in my tracks and in walked my brother.

  “What’s up Jerome,” he said.

“What’s up Marcus,” I said back.

  “I ain’t expect to see you here…”

“Yeah, well you know it’s been a long time since I’ve seen moms,” I said, but he didn’t reply he just gave me a nod. I headed back to my mom’s bedroom with the medicine and Marcus followed right behind me.

“Here’s your medicine,” I said trying to hand it to my mom, but she waved me away and her eyes lit up with joy when she saw my brother.

“Marcus! Awww, hey baby,” she said reaching both her hands up from out of the bed as Marcus leaned down and hugged her.

I was never the kind of nigga to roll his eyes, but I had to roll my eyes at them. They clearly annoyed the hell out of me with their love connection.

“Hey mama, how you feeling?” Marcus asked kissing her on the forehead. I just stood back and watched.

“I was doing just fine until your brother came in here upsetting me,” she said.

I had to cut in. “Damn, what I do to upset you?” I asked, but she didn’t even look at me; she kept talking to Marcus.

“He come in here asking to use my car. Can you believe that? And to top it off I told him to get my medicine out the kitchen and he bring the wrong one. Can you get it for me baby?” she asked Marcus.

“Sure mama,” he said like an obedient son and walked past me to the kitchen.

“Oh, so I did something to upset you?” I asked.

“You always upset me. You only come around when you need something,” she said looking back at Jerry Springer on the TV like I wasn’t even in the room. Marcus came back in the room with her medicine and the two of them started talking; I became a ghost.

I walked out of the bedroom and popped a seat on the living room sofa. I made sure to angle my face away from the pictures of my father. I didn’t want to see his face no more than I wanted to hear my mother’s voice. My father was dead; he had been dead since I was a teenager and unfor
tunately I was the blame for his death, according to my mother. But I knew the real truth.

The night my father died was the night him and I got into a heated argument over his car being stolen. He had insisted that I had stolen his car, wrecked it and that I was trying to lie about it. I didn’t give a fuck that he was trying to blame it on me because he was always trying to blame something on me, so it wasn’t anything new. It wasn’t until my father punched me in the face that I took offense to his false allegations.

“You stole my car, I know you did!”

“Aight Pops, you can believe whatever you want to believe, but where is your proof?” My sixteen-year-old self, tried reasoning with him.

“I don’t need no proof! I know my own son, and I know you did it!!” He was yelling in my face with spit flying from his mouth. I backed up away from him and started heading out of the garage.

“WHERE ARE YOU GOING!?” he yelled at me, grabbing me by the back of my shoulder. I angrily turned around and snatched my shoulder away from him.

“Get the fuck off me,” I snapped.

I remember it like it was yesterday. My father’s eyes turned bloodshot red, almost like a demon had over taken his body momentarily. He wounded up the hardest punch and landed it right on my jaw. I was shocked, but angry. We started fighting like we were two strangers on the street, like we had no love in our hearts for one another. After a few minutes of tussling and punches, my father got a hold of me by my neck. At sixteen I did not have the grown man strength that my father had and the way he was choking me made me feel like he was trying to take my life. So I did the only thing a person would do when they were in fear of their life; I grabbed the nearest thing by me, which happened to be a metal wrench sitting on the table in the garage, and bashed him in the temple.

His grip around my neck loosened almost immediately and he fell to the floor. I just remember gasping for air and my throat feeling like it was on fire. I didn’t even think to check and see if he was still alive. I honestly figured he was just knocked unconscious. I ended up leaving the house to go to my girlfriend’s place for the night. Next thing I knew the police were picking me up on murder charges.

Thankfully I beat the case by taking the stance of self-defense, but that wasn’t until after I had sat for two years in prison while I fought the case with just a public defender. Marcus and my mother didn’t even come to visit me. They didn’t write one letter or take one phone call. They had disposed of me like I was trash to them…like I was a bad memory. Once I had gotten out of jail and my innocence was proven, we all tried to mend our family relationship and start over, but they would never accept me the same and I would never stop resenting them for abandoning me.

My mother never fully forgave me. She tried not to show it, but her hate for me was real.

Marcus emerged from the bedroom and came into the living room with me.

“I convinced mom to let you use her car on the condition you bring it back in one piece,” he said throwing the car keys in my lap.

  I chuckled.

“In one piece? Like I’m going to do something to it,” I said.

“Well you know you got woman problems, so just bring it back so she don’t get all upset. You know she can’t take stress in her condition.”

Woman problems? I ain’t the only nigga with woman problems. I didn’t like the fact that he was speaking on my personal life like I had given him some insight. I was going to have a long conversation with Whitney about running her mouth to my family.

“I’ll bring her precious car back, don’t worry,” I said being a smart ass.

I got up from the sofa and headed to the front door. As I was turning the door knob I turned half way around to look at Marcus.

“Yo Marcus, how is your wife, Naomi?” I asked.

He just looked at me for a moment with his hands in both his pockets, feet apart, standing straight up like he was the man and in charge. I hated the smug look on his face like he was a rich nigga that thought he was shit. He looked just like our punk ass daddy standing in front of me.

“Naomi…she real good,” he said confidently.

“That’s good to hear…real good to hear,” I said while thinking about how I was fucking Naomi up against the wall with that sexy red lingerie she had on last night. I walked out the house without saying goodbye and took off in my mom’s car to go pay my ex-wife Whitney a visit about running her fucking mouth so much.

  Naomi

  Friday Morning

“Girl, remember when you were pledging and got caught in the boy’s dorm rooms trying to steal Brandon Richardson’s football jersey?” I asked laughing at Lisa.

“Oh my God, do not remind me! I was so nervous they had me to do that!” Lisa said covering her mouth like she was reliving the moment.

“I was so jealous! I was like damn, why couldn’t they have told me to do it. I was in love with his sexy, chocolate self.”

“I know you were! I didn’t know he was in his dorm room when I went in, so when he came out the bathroom in just his towel looking like a Greek god, I was like damn I wish Naomi was here to see this!”

We fell out at my desk laughing.

“Guuuurrrrl, I would’ve paid good money to be there to see that,” I said.

“Yeah, I know. Every girl in college wanted him, but he was so faithful to his baby’s mother. I hear they married now with four kids.”

“Wow, I guess they were soulmates,” I said shrugging my shoulders.

“I guess so. And you and Marcus ended up as college sweethearts getting married,” Lisa said shuffling through some files that were on my desk.

“Don’t remind me,” I said giving a fake laugh.

It was early and we were the only ones at the office so far. Lisa had called me last night, but I had been too busy with Jerome to answer my phone. So, I called her early in the morning to tell her to meet me at the office before everyone else arrived so I could get her acclimated to the job. I didn’t really have a job description for her, but for starters, I would have her create a new filing system that would be easy for everyone to find the documents that they needed. It was like finding a needle in a haystack the way things were currently.

“So you know where the supplies room is. There are plenty of manila folders and file hangers that you can use. There is also a labeler back there as well,” I explained to Lisa.

“Cool, this will be no problem. Hopefully I can have all this stuff filed by the end of next week,” Lisa said sounding ambitious.

“The end of next week? Oh sweetie, you must not know how much of a mess this place is,” I said to her as I stood up motioning for her to follow me. I took her to the back of the office and opened a door that was full of boxes stacked to the ceiling.

“This, my love, is all of the files that need to be organized,” I said showing her the boxes like she was on the “Price is Right”.

“Naomi!! What the hell!” Lisa bucked her eyes in disbelief.

“Hey, you wanted a job. So you got plenty employment here if you want it,” I said keeping it one hundred with her.

“Well I got plenty bills, so I will get it done,” Lisa said looking at all the boxes.

“Great,” I said turning off the room light and shutting the door.

Lisa followed me back to my desk. She kept going through the files that she had already started organizing when I heard the door open and Sandra, the office manager, walked in.

“Well hello ladies! Good morning!” she said with a smile like the sun on her face.

“Good morning Sandra, this is Lisa. She will be working with us,” I said introducing them. They both shook hands and chatted for a moment, and then Sandra smiled big and wide at me.

“Sooooo, somebody’s birthday is tomorrow. Any plans?” Sandra asked me.

“Um…not so far, but maybe something will come up,” I told her giving her a smile back.

Lisa cut in, “Yeah we got to think of something. Maybe a night out…just us gir
ls!”

“Maybe!” I said giving her the same enthusiasm back.

Sandra went off to her desk to start her shift.

“Alright, you got everything you need Lisa?” I asked before she left to go sit in the file room and organize the files.

“Yeah, I’m good to go,” Lisa said standing up from my desk.

“Perfect,” I replied, standing up and smiling at her.

It was so good to see her and be around her. She was like the sister I never had and with us falling out over some petty argument, it had really taken a toll on me not being able to call and talk to her on a daily basis; but that was all about to change now. Lisa needed me just as much as I needed her. I could already tell by looking into her eyes that she was appreciative for the job. She didn’t have to say a word.

“Give me a hug,” I said to Lisa, smothering her in my embrace before she could even put the files down she was holding. Even though we were not blood, Lisa was my family. Especially with me being an only child and my parents dying in a car accident. Lisa was the only person in my life that I had that I could tell my deepest, darkest secrets to and not worry about them ever getting out. No matter how much we fought and how long we stayed away from each other, Lisa had my back and I had hers.

“Aww girl, you gonna make me cry,” Lisa said hugging me back. I giggled at her getting all emotional because I was getting emotional my damn self.

“Well don’t cry on me right now. Save that for when we go out for drinks. We both could use a girl’s night out.”

“I know that’s right!” Lisa said smiling with welled-up tears in her eyes.
