In 1938, after his release from prison on narcotics charges, Carlos Marcello became a known associate of Frank Costello. In 1951, the Kefauver Committee, officially the Senate Special Committee to Investigate Crime in Interstate Commerce, subpoenaed Virginia Hill and Frank Costello to testify regarding mob activities.

After the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the F.B.I. investigated Carlos Marcello for threats made against Kennedy.

The character of Antonio Denato and his relationship to the Mafia figures mentioned in this book is strictly the creation of this author’s imagination.

Regarding the Office of Strategic Services, (OSS):

Starting in 1999, the Office of Strategic Services, the predecessor to the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, began to declassify the war records of 1942-1945 and make them available through the National Archives and Records Administration. Since that time, additional records and reports have been made available regarding the services of men and women in the OSS during World War II.

It is this author’s opinion that while accounts of clandestine activities during the years of 1942-1945 are of extreme historical significance, arguments could be made that, seventy years later, some individuals might have preferred certain incidents never see the light of day.

  A word about the author…

Stanalei’s love of writing romance stems from reading favorites such as Grimm’s Fairy Tales, Barbara Cartland, and Alistair MacLean.

She has over twenty years in the martial arts and holds the rank of Sandan, a third-degree black belt, in Aikido.

After a taste of life on both U.S. coasts, she now resides near the beautiful Wasatch Mountains with her hero, who just happens to be her best friend and husband. Together they enjoy backcountry dirt road on RZR, visiting our National Parks, and exploring ghost towns and museums.
