The Petticoat Rebellion Page 13

by Jon Laiche

"This is not an inaccurate description of the coffee we drink in New Orleans!

  Noir comme le Diable

  Fort comme la Mort

  Doux comme l'Amour

  Et chaud comme l'Enfer

  Or, en anglais …

  Black as the Devil

  Strong as Death

  Sweet as Love

  and hot as Hell!”

  THANK YOU !

The 1718 Project was founded in 2010 to explore and share the heritage of French Louisiana as we celebrate the 2018 tricentennial of the founding of New Orleans. The Petticoat Rebellion is currently the most visible sign of the 1718 Project. We hope you enjoy the book and the recipes that are found within and look forward to Volume 2 which should appear in late 2015. The 1718 Project was designed to be a collaborative work including not only the work of the authors but also all meaningful contributions to this celebration. We are looking for lesson plans to share, four websites to link to, for blogs concerned with the tricentennial, and all other educational and informational projects and communications regarding this 2018 festivities.
