Blaiz snorted, then jerked a nod at the two D’Aire males walking in front of them. “So, you told those two about the Xenon?”
Orion sighed. “They were bound to hear about the situation while they’re on the space station. It was better for them to hear it from me.”
“True, but I’m a seeker, just as you are, and I can’t read them.” Blaiz paused before he added, “There is something about them that I don’t trust. However, that could be because I think they’re both self-entitled assholes.”
“I agree,” Daven said. “I’m not sure either of them would represent our race well.”
Orion was about to answer when his attention was captured by the sound of feminine laughter. Suddenly, everything seemed to come to a halt. He slowly turned his head and saw a human female talking with two identical looking Helios males on the far end of the docking bay. Her laughter lit up the room, turning the stark grey interior into an entirely different world, a world of brilliance and wonder.
The female was absolutely breathtaking.
She was tall for a human woman, and even with her Alliance uniform on, he could tell she had curves in all the right places. Beautiful, long, dark hair was pulled back and secured at the nape of her graceful neck. His fists clench at his sides as he thought about running his hands through those curly locks. That thought shocked him to his core.
What in all the worlds was he thinking?
Never in his life had he reacted to a female this way. Something was wrong…or maybe it was finally right. He didn’t realize he had taken a few steps toward her until Blaiz’s hand clamped down onto his shoulder, halting his movement.
“Is something amiss?”
Orion had a hard time tearing his gaze away from the female, but he turned to his friend with wide eyes. “That human woman…”
Blaiz glanced over to where the woman stood with the two Helios. “Do you know her?”
Orion started to shake his head, then paused. He had never met her, but his soul knew her. He could sense it. Feel it. “I think she is my keeper.”
Daven sucked in a breath sharply. “Stars, can it truly be?”
Blaiz sighed. “Well, damnation…a human?”
Orion’s eyes narrowed as he growled, “Do you have a problem with that?”
Blaiz’s hands shot up in the air in a conciliatory gesture. “Of course not. I’m just surprised.” His lips curved slowly. “I’m happy for you.”
“As am I,” Daven added. “This is a miracle, Orion.”
The three of them turned as the dark-haired beauty threw her head back to laugh at something one of the Helios males said. A wave of desire shot through Orion’s system, but it quickly merged with a healthy dose of anger. His entire body stiffened with outrage that the other males were standing so close to her. They were the recipients of her lovely smile that belonged to him…only to him.
“Calm,” Daven said softly.
Orion realized that he’d been all but growling with his jealousy, and forced himself to regain control of himself. “She is beautiful,” he whispered reverently. “And she belongs to me.”
“What she is, is leaving,” Blaiz said as she waved to the two Helios and headed for a secured door at the end of the docking bay. “Go after her. We’ll make sure the two dickheads are entertained in your absence.”
Daven shook his head. “You and your human slang.”
Blaiz grinned.“I like their colorful sayings. Especially their swear words. They make getting my point across so much easier.”
Orion left his friends behind without a thought as he followed after the human woman with the focus of a predator after prey. When an elite officer stepped in front of him before he could reach the door, he had to force back the snarl that wanted to tear from his throat. Orion wanted to shove the human for daring to get in his way, but stopped himself before he caused the smaller man injury.
“Whoa! Hey, you can’t go in there.”
He stared down at the shorter male through narrowed eyes. “I need to speak to the female that just went into that room.”
“Who, Morgan—I mean, Officer Chavez?”
Morgan Chavez. So, that was his keeper’s name. Orion hated using his status to get special treatment, but he didn’t hesitate to now before the officer could protest again. “I am Ambassador Orion D’Sil, and I need to speak with Morgan. Now.”
The elite’s eyes widened. “Shit, I thought I recognized you. I mean, sorry, sir! Is Morgan the Liaison Officer in charge of your visit? Here, let me get the door for you.”
He flushed a little and gulped nervously as he hurried over to the panel by the door and entered a code into the security pad. “Morgan’s helping out with inventory while a couple of our people are down with space sickness. Are you sure you want to go into the storage area? I could go find her and bring her out here for you instead.”
The door slid open, and Orion held up an imperious hand when the elite tried to follow him inside the storage room. “You will remain out here.”
Whatever else the elite tried to say was cut off as the door slid shut again. Orion glanced around for Morgan, but all he saw were crates blocking his way. Taking a few steps further, he saw the storage room was like a maze. Crates were piled high, stacked in rows in the middle of the large room, and against the far wall were huge metal shelves filled with smaller containers.
He looked down all the corridors between the crates and saw that they were empty. Anticipation hummed over Orion’s skin like an electrical current as he reached the last corridor…and there she was. His heart beat rapidly as he saw Morgan standing in front of the wall of containers, holding some sort of scanner up to one of them. Her head bent as she keyed in some information into the scanner, and he couldn’t help but admire her as he watched her in silence for a few seconds.
The pull was there…that unexplainable tie that bound a D’Aire to their keeper. The bond wasn’t something that could be put into words. As the keeper of his heart, Morgan had instantly become the most significant, vital person in his life. She was now the keeper of his heart, body and soul, and he would find a way to claim hers in return.
She was absolute perfection, and he was in awe of her beauty.
Her waist was slim, and she had full breasts that couldn’t be hidden beneath the drab uniform jacket she wore. Just thinking about touching her made his cock grow hard as rock. It was a strange feeling for him, since he had never experienced feeling desire for a female before. In all the years he had been alone, he had never wanted to share his body with another. Some of his kind had tried having sex before they were bonded, but that was something Orion had wanted only with his keeper.
Finally, he truly understood why humans were so emotional. Unable to stay away, he walked forward slowly, needing to be near Morgan. He could feel that connection between them growing stronger as he got closer to her. It was a wonder that he had enough self-control to hold back from rushing, though, he didn’t want to frighten her. Instead, he would take things slow, court her like she deserved.
He’d been searching his entire life for her, and now that he’d found her, he could hardly believe she was real. She didn’t know him, but he would prove himself to her. He had a lifetime to devote himself to her, to fulfill her every wish and dream. They were destined for one another. Fated to share a love that would stand the test of time. It would be a bond that nothing could break, that no one could come between.
In a few moments, both of their lives would change forever.
Because after he claimed her, he would never let her go.
CHAPTER THREE
Morgan froze as someone called out to her.
Actually, the sound of her name had been more like a low, throaty purr, and it immediately sent her pulse racing. She turned her head to see a D’Aire male walking toward her. As a liaison officer, she had come in contact with many D’Aire during the course of her duties, but there was something special about this male.
As he got closer, recog
nition struck. When she had been stationed in the Capital back on Earth, she’d never had the opportunity to work with Ambassador D’Sil. However, that didn’t mean she wasn’t aware with who he was. He was a popular and active D’Aire Ambassador that visited Earth often, and he had many powerful friends.
All of the D’Aire were attractive, with beautiful faces, and hard, sculpted muscles, but Morgan found it difficult to breathe as she stared at Ambassador D’Sil. There was something about him in particular that captivated her.
His long, white hair fell loose around his handsome face. He had a strong jaw, high cheek bones and perfectly shaped lips. His iridescent blue eyes were locked on her, and his gaze made her shiver with awareness. The simple, white tunic and matching pants he wore added to his angelic appearance, but she knew that despite his saintly appearance, he was a warrior, through and through.
Watching him, it was impossible not to notice how gracefully his body moved, almost as if he were gliding instead of walking. The D’Aire race had been nicknamed angels by humans, and Morgan had been privileged to witness several of them with their magnificent wings released in the past. Those wings added another foot to their already impressive height since all of them stood around seven feet tall.
Stars, he was a scorcher. Hot enough to make her damn glad she wore underwear today since she could feel herself growing damp just by looking at him.
Holy nova, had she suddenly lost her mind?
What in the worlds was wrong with her? She shouldn’t be thinking about things that would surely get her into trouble, and she definitely needed to stop looking at him as if she wanted to gobble him up in big, greedy bites…even if she really wished she could. Focus, she scolded herself as she turned to faced him completely.
“Ambassador D’Sil, what are you doing here?” Hell, that wasn’t what she meant to say. She knew proper protocol for greeting ambassadors, and that definitely wasn’t it.
His lips curved in a small smile. “You know who I am.”
“I used to be stationed in the Capital. I was never assigned to you, but I saw you a few times when you visited Earth. Not that I was spying on you or anything. I just meant I saw you from a distance. Hell,” she muttered before saying, “I’m sorry, that wasn’t a proper greeting. I’m Liaison Officer Morgan Chavez, and—”
“I know exactly who you are as well,” he said softly, interrupting her nervous ramble. “And to answer your question, I came here for you.”
His deep voice sent a wave of desire sweeping through her. She could feel warmth rush to her cheeks, and hoped like hell he didn’t realize why she was blushing. He slowly walked forward until he stood right in front of her, so close she had to tilt her head back to keep eye contact with him.
“That’s…umm. Okay, can I, umm, do something for you?”
He didn’t answer her question. Instead, he simply stared at her and said, “You are so beautiful. Forgive me, little one.”
“Forgive you?” She blinked in confusion. “For what?”
“For losing hope. I have traveled the stars looking for you, but I feared this day would never come. You are my keeper, Morgan. Bound to me, as I am to you.”
“Wh-what?” Oh no, she thought wildly, but it was too late.
He’d raised a hand, stroking his fingertips gently over her cheek, and that soft touch was all it took. His emotions swamped her, but not like they normally did when she came in contact with someone. She didn’t feel invaded or tainted. This was a slow, steady surge, seeping into her pores until she felt filled with him. He merged with her, filling all the dark spaces inside her. The hollow places in her that left her feeling fractured and broken were now overflowing with his desire and need…for her.
As if she were the most important thing in the entire universe to him.
And she was. She could feel it, sense it with every atom of her being. The power of his feelings for her coalesced with her own desire, building with intensity until she felt as if a thousand tiny strands of energy connected them together.
Before Morgan knew what she was doing, she launched herself at him. Orion’s eyes widened, but he caught her, easily holding her smaller body against his large frame. It was madness, but she couldn’t make herself stop as her legs wrapped around his waist, plastering her body against his. Stars, he felt good, but it wasn’t enough. Fisting her hands in his silky hair, she slammed her lips down on his, fusing them together.
The taste of him burst through her like a sunbeam, so strong she felt white-hot desire burning through her system. She closed her eyes, savoring the feeling. Never before had she experienced this kind of yearning, and she lost herself in the haze of it.
Stop! What the hell am I doing?
Her mind cried out, but the words were trapped inside of her. The need for him was too intense for her to fight, and she lost herself as his mouth opened under hers, inviting her in. She wrapped her arms around his neck as her tongue stroked against his, taking, tasting. Shivering from the lust careening through her system, she was barely aware that he was moving, taking them further into the shadows between two large stacks so they were no longer out in the open.
Her back hit the crates, his hard body easily holding her in place. Raw need exploded inside her, and she felt a flood of liquid heat spill from between her thighs as his rigid cock pressed against her core. She heard the sound of her own blood roaring in her ears, and her heart felt like it was going to pound right out of her chest.
Shifting against him, she ground her pussy over his cloth-covered cock, making them both moan. In response, he thrust his hips forward, rubbing himself harder against her. The friction was glorious. She wished their clothing gone, wanting to feel him slamming into her until she screamed with ecstasy.
When his mouth pulled away from hers, she was immediately bereft. The distance should have given her a little bit of her sanity back, but she was still too overwhelmed to think clearly. She wanted to tell him she was sorry for attacking him, to try to explain that she couldn’t control herself. But all that came out was a soft whimper as her gloved hands gripped onto his tunic.
“Shh, my love. I’m right here,” he whispered as he pressed sweet kisses over her cheeks before settling his mouth back over hers.
His words startled her for a moment, then she realized the truth in it. He’d called her his love, but it wasn’t some empty endearment used for just anyone. She could taste the love in his kiss. Felt it through his emotions. He’d said she was the keeper of his heart, and she knew what a D’Aire’s keeper was. It meant she was his chosen, his mate, his match…the perfect female to his male.
She pulled at his tunic, trying to lift it. “Off. I want this off.”
Obeying her command, he reached down and jerked the shirt up over his head, tossing it to the floor. She hummed low in her throat as she tried to touch him. Cursing, she ripped off her gloves, then she splayed her hands over his golden skin, running her fingertips over the sculpted muscle of his bare chest. When he shivered, so did she as she felt his pleasure through her touch.
“This is crazy.” But she wasn’t sure if she were trying to convince him or herself.
“This is fated,” he countered harshly. “Our bond is undeniable. You want me as much as I want you. As a seeker, I can feel it, but your kiss tells me all I need to know.”
Shit, they were totally doomed.
Her own desire was heightened by his, but hers was affecting him as well. Together, their abilities were making it impossible to fight the terrible need tearing through them both. For a second, she considered doing the sane thing and try to struggle against what was happening. He was a damn ambassador, and she’d only known him for about five minutes. Not to mention they were in the freaking storage room with security cameras surveying the room, even if they were hidden between the crates.
But for some strange reason, none of that mattered.
If by some miracle, she had been given the gift of this male to call her own, she was going to take it.
But she had to warn him about what she was before this went any further. “Orion, I’m an empath. I can feel what you feel, and it’s driving me crazy.”
He groaned softly. “This is dangerous. I wanted to take this slow. To show you what a treasure you are to me, and that I will make you happy in the years to come. But I don’t know if I can resist you much longer. We should stop now before I lose control.”
She didn’t want him in control, though. Morgan wanted him as wild as she was feeling. Leaving caution behind, she whispered, “Do you want to know what I want?”
Her hands trailed lower until she was reaching between their bodies, and his breath sucked in sharply as she gripped his massive erection through his soft, thin pants. The thought of his thick cock inside her made her ache. My, my, he was big boy. And getting bigger by the second. Wow…just wow.
Morgan leaned in so her lips were a breath away from his. Hunger blazing in his iridescent blue eyes, and she wanted him to unleash all the need she saw there. “I want you inside me,” she whispered. “If I’m really your keeper, then show me.”
Orion felt his control snap.
Gripping her head in his hands, he claimed her mouth again. This time, he took control of the kiss, and he drank down her gasp as his tongue invaded deep. Stars burst behind his eyelids, and flames of desire swept through him. It was a kiss that stole his senses. Lust was a tangible thing, growing in strength until he felt a desperate ache to be buried inside her. He had never felt such intense emotions before, and suddenly, he knew that he was no longer alone in the universe.
Moaning at the taste of her, he instantly wanted more. Flames of passion burned him alive as he angled his head to the side to take the kiss deeper, until they were all but devouring one another. He groaned in pleasure as her grip tightened on his cock. She stroked him slowly, from the base of his shaft to the rounded head of the tip until he couldn’t take the teasing torment any longer.
“Tell me you want this, want me. Say the words, Morgan,” he demanded. He saw the passion clouding her beautiful green eyes, but he needed to hear her say it.
