Mack stormed up to the table. “I know this is your night, Mia, but I am completely tired and was wondering if I could go home to sleep. The jet lag has finally caught up with me.”
I opened my mouth to argue, but Damon said, “Sure, Mack. Do you want us to take you home?”
She bit her lip and looked back at Jake, who was an angry bear at the edge of the dance floor. He looked furious and his fingers touched the angry red mark that Mack had obviously made. “No, I don’t want to ruin the rest of your night. I can take a cab.”
Before I could say anything else, she was snatching up her purse and heading towards the door. Jake walked up when she left and said, “Where is she going?”
I gasped at how red his cheek was when he got closer, “What happened?” I asked as I pointed to his face.
He shrugged. “I guess she didn’t like how I danced. So where is she going?”
“Home,” I said. “She looked pretty pissed when she came and told us she was leaving.”
“Good...and good riddance.” I gasped at how mean he was being. This was not the Jake that I had grown to love.
And then like that, Jake said he was leaving himself and our small party was over.

Shaking the night from my memory, I snuggled deeper into Damon’s embrace and felt his cock grow rigid. I smiled and pressed against it. He hissed into my neck and bit it lightly. “Good morning,” he groaned.
“Good morning,” I stretched, smiling again as I rubbed against his shaft as I did. “How are you this morning? Are you thinking of taking off?”
He stilled his hands, which had been running up and down my naked body. “Why would I be thinking that?”
“Because in less than 30 hours, you are going to have an old ball and chain wrapped around your neck,” I laughed.
He chuckled into my neck and I felt gooseflesh rise on my skin. “I definitely want that...but do you know what I really want?”
I shook my head as he pulled me over to lie on my back. “I want your pretty little legs wrapped around my neck,” he said, his eyes filled with desire as he captured my lips in a kiss.
I could barely say, “Oh,” before his tongue snaked inside my mouth and I was left breathless. His hard cock pressed against my hip as his fingers slid down to my breasts. He twisted the hard nubs of my nipples between his fingers and I gasped as a sweet ache spread from them to my pussy.
He sucked my lip between his teeth and tugged on the sensitive flesh as his hands tugged on my nipples. I felt each tug as though my breasts and lips were connected to my pussy and I was dripping wet by the time he broke the kiss and began nibbling down my jaw and neck.
Damon hovered above my breasts before he looked up at me. Awe filled his face and he said, “You are so perfect, Mia. I love you so much, and I would never run from you. You are my heart and my soul.”
Tears filled my eyes, and I felt my heart fill with so much love at his words. I touched his cheek and said, “I love you so much, Damon. I am the happiest woman in the world knowing that I will be your wife soon.”
He shuddered and he closed his eyes as he turned into my palm. He kissed the flesh there and I realized that he had needed to hear those words as much as I had needed to. Damon kissed his way down my arm and I allowed myself to be swept up in the feelings that he was drawing from me. My entire body shivered under him and by the time he closed his mouth around my one nipple, I was begging for his touch.
My body tensed as a bolt of pure pleasure shot through me and his teeth pulled at my nipple. His fingers pinched the other nipple and I was overcome by that strange mixture of passion and pain. It was amazing, and I raked my hands through his hair, begging for him to move down my body.
He chuckled at my eagerness and kept ravaging my breasts. He moved from breast to breast and I felt my pussy drip with excitement as an orgasm raged through me. I shuddered under him as my orgasm peaked, but I couldn’t reach that point where I tumbled over. Damon knew what he was doing to me, but he still slid his tongue around my nipples, grazing them with his teeth before he soothed the tortured flesh with his tongue.
I panted and begged for him to let me come and then his thumb pressed against my clit and I screamed as I came undone. The orgasm shattered through me and I felt the heat of it marking my flesh as it made my skin red.
He chuckled as he slipped between my legs. Wrapping my legs around his shoulder, he said, “Hold on, baby, I want to feel you wrapped around me.”
I screamed as his tongue plunged deep inside of me, and I wrapped my legs tightly around his head, locking him to me as he lapped up my juices. He sucked the hard bud of my clit into his mouth and then plunged his finger deep inside of me. My pussy clenched around his digit as my second orgasm began to grow into a wildfire, spreading through me.
Then I was tumbling into the fire as the orgasm crashed into me. My hands sank into his hair and I wrapped my legs tighter as I came. I cried out, my hips jerking upwards as Damon’s hands pushed me back against the bed. He continued to lick and suck my pussy until I was a shivering mess on the bed...completely spent from what he had just done to me.
Lying down, Damon pulled me against him and wrapped his arms around me. I could feel his shaft digging into my back and I pressed against it. “Really, I thought you were done after that.”
I nodded. “I was...but I want to feel you inside of me, baby.”
Damon groaned and then his fingers were pinching my thigh. I gasped at the pain, but it sent a fresh need through my body. I loved when he took control of my body and forced me into the positions he wanted. It made me feel like he would always take care of me, even when I couldn’t control myself.
He raised my one leg up over his hip and his hand brushed my sensitive clit. I pressed backward against him and felt his thick shaft slide over my pussy from behind. He flexed his hips and his cock slid back and forth as I fell back into his arms.
Then he titled his hips and his cock plunged into me as I groaned at the invasion. He felt perfect inside of me and I ground back against him, urging him to plunge deeper inside. He growled as he obliged my need and thrust harder as he bit my back. I screamed again as lights began to dance behind my eyes and then I was rocking my hips to meet him thrust for thrust.
One of Damon’s hands reached between my legs and he captured my clit between his fingers as he squeezed and rolled that sweet nub. I shuddered, my pussy clenching around his shaft as he thrust deeper inside of me. As he continued to stroke and pinch my clit, the lights became blinding flashes and then I felt him explode deep inside of me as I shuddered against him and my own orgasm filled me.
We collapsed together, our bodies joined by his shaft still semi-erect in my pussy...our souls joined by the love that we felt for each other. Damon kissed the top of my head as he said, “I know you won’t be my wife until tomorrow, Mia, but I already feel like we are married...you are my soul mate.”
Tears of happiness filled my eyes and I said, “You are my soul mate as well.”
Chapter Thirteen
I looked beautiful. I am not a normally vain person, but staring at myself in the mirror, I knew that I was breathtaking. The ivory fabric fell perfectly against my skin and the stylist had done an amazing job on my hair and makeup. My eyes shone brightly and I knew it was from the excitement that in less than an hour, I would be happily married.
I touched my stomach and smiled. And my husband would know that I was pregnant and we would be parents soon. It was perfect, and while I wasn’t looking forward to leaving everyone in my life behind, that thought didn’t scare me as much as it had before.
I’d come to realize that Damon was my entire life and the baby would be our world. I would do anything to keep him or her safe and the baby would never be safe as long as people thought we were alive. Everything was in place. The money was removed from our accounts, not enough to make it look suspicious, but enough where we could live without financial worry. In addition, most of Damon’s wealth
was hidden in offshore accounts under one of his aliases. One that no one knew about.
The rest would be going to a charity that he’d set up years ago and would be funnelled to us after the estate was cleared. Despite only having a few weeks to get everything ready, Damon had done it. Of course, it helped that he’d already had a plan for himself—all he had to do was include me in it.
“I’m going to go and see if everything is ready,” Mack said, breaking through my thoughts. She was gorgeous in the emerald green, backless sundress that I had chosen for my bridesmaid. The altar was set up on the beach, and I would be walking down to it where we would get married with a small number of friends and family who had flown in.
There had been a bit of a stir when they realized who my groom was, but that was before the actual arrival. Those who disagreed with it were not here, including my mom. I nodded to Mack in the mirror. “Okay, thank you,” I said.
She smiled at me and then hugged me from behind, her arms wrapping around my stomach where I kept my little secret safe. “You are a beautiful bride, Mia. I love you so much, and you will have so much love surrounding you today. Don’t let anything spoil this moment for you.”
Mack squeezed me tighter and then released me. She smiled again and then headed out of the room. I returned to looking in the mirror as I tried to push down the emotions that were threatening to drown me. I wanted to see my mom one last time before she thought I was dead. My heart broke at how hard it was going to be for her. First her husband had died and then her daughter.
Maybe when we were safe, we could contact her and bring her down to live near us. I could afford it, and I really wanted her to know her grandchildren. But for now, she couldn’t know anything except that we were gone.
I felt the tears burning my eyes, but I blinked them away. I didn’t want to marry Damon with my eyes streaked with tears...at least, not until we were saying our vows to each other. I focused instead on the long wedding dress as I ran my hands down the cool fabric to smooth it.
“Are you okay if I give you away?” I jumped and looked up into the mirror. Standing in the doorway, wearing a nice suit, was Frank, Damon’s father. I cried out in happiness and turned around just in time to see my mom walking through the door.
“Mom? Frank? I thought you weren’t going to come,” I gasped.
My mom’s mouth pursed and she looked like she was going to say something horrible to me. I took a step backwards, terrified that she had only come here to ruin things for me. Finally, she said, “Don’t be silly. My beautiful daughter is getting married today. I wouldn’t miss her big day for any reason.”
“Plus, her dashing and handsome husband convinced her to do the right thing,” Frank added, and I couldn’t help the laugh that bubbled out of me.
My mother glared at Frank and she looked like she was ready to hit him, but then her frown spread into a smile and then she laughed, “Yes, sometimes my husband has a lot of wisdom...sometimes, that is.”
I smiled and walked towards them. Frank gave me a hug, his arms tightening around me before he released me. He smiled as he touched my cheek. “You are a beautiful bride, Mia. I am so happy that you are going to make an honest man of my son.”
Tears filled my eyes and I said, “I am lucky that Damon loves me like he does. I couldn’t imagine marrying a better man. I love you, Frank, and I am so glad that you are going to be my father-in-law...and I am so happy that you are here with Mom.”
He smiled and glanced back at my mom before he turned back to me. “How about I give you two a few minutes alone.”
I nodded even as a part of me wanted to keep him here. After what happened the last time I had been with my mom, I wasn’t sure if I could bring myself to stay with her alone again. What if her happiness was just a ploy to demand that I leave Damon at the altar. I didn’t want this day to be ruined.
But the other part of me wanted to clear things between us before we left. I wanted to leave her with the memory of me saying I love you and not with the memory of us hating each other. If I could never contact her again, which was possible, I needed to make sure that she knew how much she meant to me.
Frank gave me one last hug and I knew that it was to offer me support and strength. He kissed my forehead and then whispered into my ear, “Be patient with her, she is trying.”
I nodded again as he broke free and walked out of the door. My mom watched him go, clear on her face that a part of her longed to go with him. Finally, she turned back to me and gave me a sad smile. “You look beautiful,” she said.
She took a few steps forward and grasped my shoulders gently before she navigated me towards the mirror. Looking at me over my shoulder, I saw tears in her blue eyes as she smiled wider. “You look like I did when I married your father. Everyone told me I was making a mistake. He was just a dumb kid with no prospects.”
I smiled and touched her hand, which was still resting on my shoulder. I had heard this before. Despite the fact that my dad had cheated on her near the end of their marriage, there had been a time when they’d been madly in love. She often said life was easier when they were broke and living in that studio apartment. When he was successful, they grew apart and he found solace in another woman’s arms...the same woman who had killed him.
“I didn’t care and my own parents had decided not to attend the wedding.” My eyes widened in surprise. She’d never told me that, and I’d always been close to my grandparents before their death a few years ago. They’d always seemed happy with my mom’s marriage.
“By the time you were born, your dad was already a success. They found it much easier to approve of him when he was providing such a lavish lifestyle for their daughter. They overlooked a lot of the reasons why they didn’t want us together in the first place.” My mom let go of my shoulder and walked towards the bed. She sat down on the edge of it and looked up at me as I turned towards her. “I feel so silly doing exactly what they did to me.”
I took a step forward, but she placed her hands up to keep me where I am. “I have to be honest, Mia,” she said, “I love you and I do love Damon. He was a pain in the ass when he was younger and to be honest,” she smiled, “he still is a pain in my ass, but I love him because I love Frank.”
She took a deep breath and plucked at an invisible piece of lint on the bedding, “But I am still not a hundred percent happy about you and him being together.”
“But that isn’t up to you,” I said defensively, cutting her off. “I love Damon and we are going to be together for the rest of our lives. This works for us...even if it isn’t conventional.”
She laughed softly. “You sound just like me and look where that got me in the end—a dead husband and a daughter who had to live with that pain.”
I opened my mouth to argue with her. Sure I had been hurt when my dad died, but it was in the past. She’d focused all her attention on me and I had been able to heal and work through the pain. I closed my mouth—would I end up like her in the end? A dead husband and a child in pain. It could happen with Damon’s past.
As though she hadn’t noticed me about to interrupt her again, she said, “But that was after...the before was...” She paused and a small smile spread across her lips, “The before was amazing. Your dad and I were perfect for each other and I would be willing to relive all that heartache to spend those years with him again. I don’t regret any part of my life with your dad.”
She grew silent and I watched her, my mind swirling around what she was saying. Was she talking about the heartache or about her own past? Did she regret being with Frank or was she just saying that she understood me? I had so many questions, but her eyes were staring at a spot on the wall and I knew she was seeing something from the past. She glanced up at me after several minutes and shook herself. “Don’t get me wrong, I love Frank and the life we have, but your father was my soul mate and when he died, even though he had cheated on me, I lost a small part of myself with him.
“I know what it is to love so
deeply. And I know that you love Damon just as deeply as I did your father. I have to be honest and let you know that I am still not a hundred percent comfortable with your relationship before you got engaged, but I am not my parents. I can’t, with good conscious, do to you what they did to me.”
She stood up and walked towards me. Her hand reached out tentatively and then she cupped my cheek. I closed my eyes as a single tear slid into her palm. “I love you, Mia, and I want you to be happy. I wanted to see you on the happiest day of your life.”
Tears were flowing freely down both of our faces when I opened my eyes, “I love you, too, Mom, and I am so happy that you are here with me. I wish that Dad was here, as well.”
She smiled, “He is, in our hearts.” Then she pulled me into a fierce hug and we cried for a few minutes.
The door opened and Frank said, “Jesus, Judy, you ruined her makeup.”
I broke from her embrace and laughed a tear-stained sound. “Good thing the stylist is still here, she can fix my make up.”
He nodded and Mack came into the room with the stylist dragging behind her. “I figured you would need your make up refreshed,” she said.
I laughed, dried my tears, and then allowed the stylist to fix her work. When we were all ready, Frank extended his arm and said, “So, my dear, are you ready to go and start your new life?”
I nodded and said, “More than ready.”
Chapter Fourteen
“Well, that is quite surprising,” Damon said as he stared at the tablet in his hand.
I glanced up from where I was reading my novel and smiled at him. “What is interesting?”
“The news,” he said and he smiled at me before his gaze travelled down to the large swell of my belly. My hand followed his gaze and I ran my fingers over our babies. Only a few more months and we would be the proud parents of twins; one girl and one boy according to the sonogram.
After the beautiful wedding, Damon and I had headed to the hotel where we’d made passionate love. When we were done, I told Damon all about the pregnancy and he’d been happier than the moment I’d made my way down the beach towards him. It was the perfect way to celebrate our wedding, and I was the happiest I had ever been.
