Hush

by Xavier Neal

He doesn’t wear it a lot. Says when he’s not working out his gym shorts are more comfortable that way. If you cogitate anything like me you’re probably thinking the same thing I am. He’s full of shit. It’s just always made it easier for a quick lay.

Casually, Logan rotates, spits, and rinses his mouth out before turning around with a familiar heated stare.

I cannot be late for work.

His tongue grazes across his bottom lip slowly, and my knees immediately weaken to the point where I have to lean one hand on the tile wall to steady myself while using the other to grip my towel.

I’m gonna be late for work.

“You look sexy as shit, Maxx,” he sighs, his eyes roaming over my body.

Stepping out of the shower I take a deep breath. “Thank you, Logan…but you say that every time that you see me almost naked.”

My body lands beside his, which immediately moves behind me. His lips caress my neck slowly, his tongue hinting at pleasure on my skin before he whispers, “And what do I say when I do see you naked?” Letting my eyelids fall, the question seems more rhetorical than I remember as he strokes my earlobe with his tongue, skillfully pulling my towel off.

We have got to figure out how to have less sex…ha. Okay that was just stupid.

In a low whisper Logan says, “Morning, baby.”

“Morning,” I blissfully hum out, the feeling of his warm breath travels down my neck towards my collarbone as his hands grab my boobs. His fingers toy with my nipples, gentle pulls that cause me to whimper again.

“You wet for me?” His question is sticky with temptation.

  “Maybe…”

My nipples are gently tugged again as his lips inch across my cheek. “Answer me.”

When his teeth nip at the corner of my mouth I push my body against him and cry out, “Yes.”

I can feel him smile against my face. “I’m gonna have you now.” Before I can put up any resistance, Logan slides one of his hands down my torso, heading straight for my clit, lighting my nerve ends on fire one by one in the most exhilarating way. His finger glides across the moisture while he says, “Bend. Over.”

At his will, like some sort of ragdoll, I bend my body forward placing both my palms on the counter to brace myself. Behind me, I feel the hand that was just fondling my boob glide around caressing down my sides to my hips. His hand slides across my ass, which he decides to give a good squeeze.

“Perfect ass. Perfect tits. Perfect pussy…” The last word lingers on his lips as a finger sinks deep inside me. The second my muscles flex in acceptance he slips it away and I softly cry out from the withdrawal.

  Tease much?

Logan’s cock eases its way inside and he groans, “All mine.” My pussy responds to the declaration by clenching, and the hand he has on my hip pulls my body into him. Unexpectedly he says, “Open your eyes, Maxx.” The feeling of his cock rocking inside of me has my mind spinning as the orgasm that’s dying to leap from within begins its path. He slows his movements down and repeats, “Open. Your. Eyes.” They struggle at first, but when they finally do I see our reflection in the mirror, and Logan is grinning proudly. “See how fucking sexy you look with my cock in you, Maxx.”

His thrusts return to a pace that makes my eyes desperate to roll back in my head, but the second he senses that’s happening he slows down until they are opened again.

I wanna be pissed off at this dumb game, I wanna make him stop, but dear God, I need him to keep going…

Suddenly there’s a knock on the bedroom door and a voice says, “Hey, Logan! You up?”

Dean’s voice infiltrating our session should stop Logan’s movements or at least slow them down but he doesn’t waver. Instead he pushes deeper inside, and I stifle my moan by biting severely on my bottom lip, the finger that’s been toying with my clit now increasing in speed.

  “Yeah,” he calls back.

“You still taking me to school?” Dean questions.

“Yeah. Give me a couple minutes to get dressed.” Logan responds to him loudly before staring at me in the mirror, the turned on expression that was there before even more intense now. “Guess we better wrap this up.” The rate of his pounding increases only slightly but the pressure on my clit increases severely. Within a few thrusts, I feel an orgasm praying to be released. My breath starts to shorten. My body starts to contract. I close my eyes and he sharply thrusts. “Watch me make you come, Maxx.” I wanna deny him, but the intensity to wanna come is stronger than my desire to disobey. My eyes watch as my body smoothly drifts back against Logan’s cock while his finger rubs my clit until I am falling into oblivion. I wanna scream out, yet my voice seems lost in my throat only letting out air as I watch my body pulsate again and again, only to have his follow suit. Warm bursts fill me up the moment his voice barely says, “Maxx…”

The sight of the two of us together is beautiful and such a fucking turn on that I’m actually ready to go again.

It was like live porn! Watching us do it in the mirror was like a 3-D movie, which I totally used to hate, but if they were more like this experience they would be on the top of my to-do list all the time! Have you had sex while watching in the mirror? Add it. Add it now.

Logan slowly pulls out and leans over to push his lips against mine. When they part our tongues briefly touch before the kiss is over. Staring me in the eyes with a bright smile he says, “I gotta take mini me to school. Round two when I get back?”

“Work, Logan.” I place a hand on his face. “I have to go to work.”

Rolling his eyes he yanks up his shorts, pops me on the ass, and chuckles. “Make me some money, woman!”

“Asshole!” I yell playfully in return as he disappears out of the bathroom leaving my body, mind, and heart filled with him.

Ugh. Could I sound more like a chick flick right now? It’s those damn romance novels fault. I made the mistake of reading an entire set by Selena Laurence last night and they made me feel all mushy afterward. Apparently that’s carrying over into today…but can you blame me? I’ve finally got Logan where I never thought he would be…is it bad I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop though?

Shaking my head at the decorator inside the ballroom, who keeps offering me pastel shades for the event, I notice Tony smirking at me out of the corner of my eye.

Not a normal smirk either. Like a shit eating grin, he wants a cookie because he is proud of what he’s done, which he shouldn’t be. I’m still a little pissed off that he called Logan to come and make up with me. I mean, yeah, it was for the best…but can we say…betrayal still? What do you mean you’re on his side?! What’s happening here…

“Wipe that smile off your face, Tony. It’s nauseating.” I push the next sample away and scroll down on my new tablet I purchased for work.

Don’t look at me like that. It’s not my fault I just so happen to read books on it too.

“Is that why you didn’t finish your sandwich?” He points at the thing that I’ve only taken one bite out of.

  “Tastes funny.”

“What do you mean it tastes funny?” My response is a shrug, he pushes again. “It’s tuna and pickles, Maxx! That tastes disgusting! But it’s never stopped you before.”

After I show him my middle finger, he chuckles again and I sigh. “I guess I’m just not hungry.”

“Must be all the tube steak.” The joke gets him a punch in the arm as the decorator’s face scolds us. Quickly, Tony rolls his eyes. “Sorry. Didn’t mean to offend. But a word of advice. We’re throwing an event for fighters, agents, and people within that scene. Pastel colors would be like waving a flag at a bull. It’s just gonna be your funeral.”

“How about I grab some burgundy samples then?” She excuses herself for a moment meanwhile, I’m placing another order through on my tablet.

The second she’s out of sight, Tony starts again, “I hate to be the one to dim the glow worm shine you have going on—”

  “Glow wo
rm? Really?”

“I fell asleep to the Discovery Channel.” He waves off my interruption. “Anyway, you are handling this whole thing better than I thought honestly.”

Confused, I finally look up. “It’s just an event, Tony. It’s kinda what I do for a living.”

“Really? This isn’t volunteer work?” After his snarky comeback he continues, “About Kellar getting recruited.”

Do you know what he’s talking about? Because to say I’m lost would be selling that sentence short.

“What? The tournament is still like a month away. Technically, he hasn’t been yet. I’m sure one of the recruiters will want him but—”

“Maxx,” Tony cuts me off. “You do know that this event we’re planning is basically for Kellar, right? That the guy who you are hosting the event for is coming to watch Kellar at the Fight Night before the tournament to sign him.”

While my acting skills have been up to par in the past, I know they aren’t at this moment.

You think this is true? You really think Logan’s just a couple weeks away from getting recruited and he hasn’t told me? How could he forget? Oh god…is this some big secret? How much more isn’t Logan telling me? Now I feel even queasier than before.

“You didn’t know.” Tony sighs, a guilty look on his face. “Maxx, I—”

“Of course I knew.” I shrug it off, going back to click the final purchase button.

“You are a terrible liar,” he mumbles as the decorator returns with more endless samples for us to waste our time on.

Better to waste my time on gaudy fabric than a boyfriend who is always keeping something from me, right?

Walking up to the front door with my phone in hand, I stare down at the reminder text message.

Aunt Caroline: Don’t forget. Dinner tomorrow night.

More annoyed now than I was when I got home I simply respond.

Me: We will see you then.

With the way I’m feeling right now, I was really close to texting I will see you then instead. I’m not sure the level of anger that is rational at this point. Not only did Logan not tell me there was a recruiter coming to see him, I had to hear it from someone else, someone who’d expected me to already have known. Which I should have. Not just because I’m his girlfriend, which I just want it out there I love that phrase, but because I’m his best friend. Or I was his best friend. Can I not be both the girlfriend and the best friend?

Frustrated, I shut the door loudly behind me and drop my purse, then my keys, and phone on top before shaking off my flats. I head into the living room where Logan and Dean are sitting on the couch racing on Mario Cart with huge gestures and loud smack talking.

“Eat my dust, Kid!” Logan shouts at the top of his lungs the moment he crosses the finish line.

I know you’re shaking your head too.

The two of them toss their heads at my presence, and I cross my arms. “You’re in trouble.”

“He did it!” they both shout in unison.

Why do I feel like I have two children now instead of just the teen?

I prepare to correct my sentence when I realize they are blaming each other for something and that distracts me. “Who did what exactly?”

When Logan looks away my eyes pin a long stare at Dean who is still in his black dress pants and navy uniform polo. “He told me I could use the razors. Said you would just pick some more up at the grocery store.”

“Why were you using my razors?”

“Logan told me I needed to shave.”

“You were beginning to have chin pubes, dude.”

With a hand pressed on my forehead in an attempt to focus, I take a long breath before looking back his direction. “Dean, have you done your homework?”

“Well…” His voice trails off and suddenly it is even more apparent that he is just like Logan.

I’m not certain Logan always passed his classes because he actually completed all his work, so much as teachers felt sorry for him. Then, once he bulked up, teachers were interested for an entirely different reason. And no, I never did his homework for him, but on occasion he did copy answers from me. Yeah…I see your point. Not letting the same thing happen for my kid. Err…the kid.

  “Dean,” I state firmly.

  “You’re in trouble…” Logan mocks.

“So are you.” My correction wipes the smirk off his face. Turning back to Dean I say, “From now on. It’s home. An hour of chill time. Then homework. Am I clear?”

  “Yes ma’am.”

  Oh suddenly I feel old…

“Go upstairs and change for dinner please.” I tilt my head in the direction of the stairs.

Dean quickly nods and scoots himself past Logan and then me, heading for his room without looking back. The minute his door is shut Logan says, “Why do I feel like I’m in trouble for more than not making Dean do his homework?”

Oh yeah. That. Add that to the list of things to fuss at him for. Priorities! Remind me of the priorities!

“When were you gonna tell me that the event eating my soul right now is for you and the recruiter who is coming to watch you? That you’re gonna get signed and disappear for an unknown amount of time?”

Logan lets out a heavy sigh and flops back down on the couch. “Who told you?”

“Does it matter? Why didn’t you fucking tell me?”

  He simply shrugs.

Oh hell no…did he really just shrug at me?!

“You better do more than shrug if you ever wanna see me naked again.” The threat pops out before I can process it.

Okay, we all know it’s an empty threat but you don’t have to say it.

“I was gonna tell you, Maximus.” Slipping my nickname into the conversation gets him what he wants. My defenses weaken.

  Damn it…

“But we just started being an ‘us’, and then we just got everything settled with the Kid, and I don’t know, I guess I just didn’t wanna throw a fucking wrench into our lives when for once we’re on the same page about shit.” The confession causes my shoulders to slouch and my head to tilt.

God, he’s like a professional manipulator. He makes James Bond look like child’s play, I swear. Put him in a suit and the world might actually implode. Better brace yourself ladies, because for the event, he’s gonna have to wear one.

Doing my best to hide my sadness I start, “When you get recruited—”

  “If, Maxx.”

“When.” My reemphasizing causes him to growl in irritation, but I ignore it. “That happens, how long until you have to split?”

  “I don’t know.”

“How long will you be gone?”

  “I don’t know.”

I feel anxiety slithering its way up my throat but I do my best to remain calm. “Will there be long periods of down time when you can come home?”

“I don’t know, Maxx. I don’t know anything at this point.”

My eyes assess the veins beginning to bulge out of his neck. The frustration of the situation is clear as day on his face.

Once upon a time, I swear this was what he wanted…which if that’s the case then why does he have such a miserable look on his face right now?

In a low voice I ask, “If you knew you were just gonna have to bail…why do that to the Kid? Why bring him here if you’re just gonna leave?”

“Because I want the people I love most under the same fucking roof!”

I go to respond when the front door slams, and the war cry of Satan’s secretary’s heels clacks across the floor. Glancing over my shoulder I see that the bitchy look on Erin’s face is worse than it’s been lately.

Not good. Last time she wore that look on her face someone lost their job and probably had to join therapy to undo the emotional damage she caused them. If only I could remember that girl’s name…

“Oh you two are in here,” she gripes rolling her eyes, heading towards her bedroom.

  “Bad day?” I ask.

  Clearly ly
ing, she says, “Nope.”

My eyes meet Logan’s and he shrugs just as clueless about her funky mood. Trying again I invite, “We’re headed out to dinner wanna join?”

Erin abruptly stops outside of her room and leans on the wall. With a Cheshire Cat grin, she pretends to pout. “Aw, I can’t. I have a date.”

“With C.J.?” Logan’s question receives an immediate sinister glare.

We’ll call those warning shots. If I say run for cover, don’t think twice.

“I’m sorry. I said a date…not a Humane Society Project.” Her sneer is followed by Logan pressing his lips together to keep from a rebuttal. “You two enjoy your dinner with the Kid. I gotta change to meet Parker.”

In a grumble Logan jeers, “What kind of name is Parker?”

“What kinda name is C.J.?” Her voice rises in volume.

You might wanna brace yourself for a running start…I’m fairly certain she’s gonna explode.

“That’s right! It’s not even a name! It’s just a bunch of letters!”

“Aren’t all names just a bunch of letters?” My counter causes Erin to shove a hand on her hip.

  Oh no…

Pointing a finger at her chest she snaps, “You’re supposed to be my best friend!” Logan starts laughing and she grunts, “Keep it up, blockhead, and see how much help you get from me the next time you fuck shit up with Maxx.”

At that, his laughter shuts off completely, and I feel the need to stop this from getting worse than it already is.

By worse, I mean her throwing a heel across the room at his face. She’s done it. Twice.

“Where are you two going?” I ask.

“Why…” She raises her eyebrows suspiciously.

“So we don’t ruin your date by showing up at the same place.”

“Oh.” Her voice almost seems momentarily disappointed. “Le Chic, downtown.”

“We’ll stick closer to home then,” I say, and she vanishes into her room.

My eyes glance over at Logan who’s typing a message on his phone before my attention is forced up to Dean who is leaning over the banister in jeans and a black polo with a carefree smile on face.
