House of Paine - (A Romantic Suspense - Book 1) Page 15

by Walker, Kylie

Paige began to gyrate her hips as she unbuttoned her skirt and let that fall off next. She left on her sexy black heels and she turned her back to him and bent over as she slid off her panties. She heard him stand up and she knew he was getting impatient. Turning back towards him she saw him drain his drink and put the glass down. In two steps he was grabbing her arm and leading her over to the bed.

“You didn’t like my striptease baby?” she said in the most seductive tone she could muster.

He grabbed one of her hands and pressed it into his crotch, forcing her to feel how excited he was. “I fucking loved it,” he said, “But now I need to be buried deep inside that wet snatch of yours.”

Paige almost gagged at the thought. If the Suc doesn’t work, she wasn’t sure she’d be able to endure another one of his disgusting assaults. He grabbed one of her nipples and twisted and pulled hard on it. Too hard, it hurt. Paige cried out and he let go, grabbing a handful of her hair then and yanking her head back hard. He put his lips to her neck and Paige did her best to dance them around so his back would be to the bed. When it was, she pulled loose from the kiss, planning to push him back onto the bed. She didn’t have to do that though. As soon as she let him go, he fell back on his own.

She smiled when she saw the wild look in his eyes. It was as if “what the fuck did you do?” was written in them. She could tell that he was trying to talk, but nothing but strange sounds were coming out of his throat and after a few seconds, nothing at all. While he lay there paralyzed, hardly able to breathe, Paige put her clothes back on. He was hanging half off the bed, so then with a lot of effort because of his dead weight; she pulled his legs over so he was lying in the middle of the bed. She grabbed the little kit out of her skirt pocket she climbed up and straddled him.

“How are you feeling?” she asked him. “Is it getting hard to breathe?” He couldn’t do anything but blink. “I have a confession. My name is Paige Acosta...does that ring a bell?” His eyes widened more and she knew that it did. “Yeah, Greg Acosta was my big brother. I loved him very much. He was a good man, one of the best...and you killed him, didn’t you?”

She could tell that he was trying to communicate with her through his eyes. He wanted to lie...it was all he really knew how to do, she was sure. “That wasn’t a question, asshole. I know you killed him. Now guess what? I’m going to kill you...the same, exact way you ended my brother’s life you pathetic scum bag.”

She opened up her little kit and first took out the rubber tourniquet and the latex gloves. She slipped on the gloves and then tied the tourniquet around his arm. It was tight, but in a few minutes, it wouldn’t matter. The vein in the anti-cubital of his arm was bulging. Paige didn’t hesitate...she didn’t let herself really consider what she was doing at that moment. She slid the needle into his arm and depressed the plunger as she said, “Bye bye scum bag. I hope my brother gets to meet up with you before you go to hell.” She continued to sit on top of him and watch as the life drained out of his eyes. Within seconds, he closed them and that was it...he stopped breathing.

A minute later reality hit her and that was when the panic set in. She suddenly began to shake all over. “Oh fuck!” she jumped up off of him and almost fell over when she did. Her legs were shaking so hard, her head was spinning and she felt sick to her stomach. She’d just killed a man...it was something she would have never believed possible only a few short months ago.

Stop it Paige! Focus! You have to get out of here!

She mentally kicked herself in the ass and then she got to work. She went into the bathroom and got a clean rag...then she proceeded to wipe down every surface in the room, paying special attention to the things she knew for certain that she had touched. When she finished that, she picked up Caine’s right arm with the rag and laid it across his stomach. His hand fell close to the syringe so it was feasible he’d administered the heroin to himself. She was sweating when she finished. She went into the bathroom then and splashed water on her face and smoothed down her hair by running her fingers through it. Then with another deep, shaky breath, she picked up the two glasses and carried them out of the room. When she got to the door between the hallway and the club she stopped and looked around. The patrons had almost all left and the employees were bustling around, getting ready for closing time.

Paige stopped at one of the tables and scooped up a few more glasses. Carrying them with her to the bar, she sat them all down in a washtub and then picked up the tub and carried it to the back. The dishwasher was open, so she loaded the glasses into it, closed the door and flipped the switch. Any trace of the Suc that may have been left was gone now. With another breath, calmer this time, she went back out to the bar and got her purse from underneath. Looking at Mike the bartender she said,

“I’m taking off, Mike. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

He looked up at her and said, “Okay Paige, thanks for your help tonight.”

It was so busy that it was possible he hadn’t even noticed her missing. She put her bag on her arm and strolled outside. It was only when she hit the fresh air outside that she began gulping it in. She was on the verge of hyperventilating as she walked quickly away from the club. She fished her phone out of her purse and pressed Damien’s number.

“Hey! Do you need a ride?” he answered.

“Caine’s dead,” she said in a flat voice.

  “What?”

“Caine’s dead and I killed him.”
