“Thanks,” I replied. “I am still in a bit of shock. It's hard to believe I actually beat him.”

“I knew you were going to win. I just knew it.”

I sat on the ground and put my head between my legs. “The pain is starting to hit me,” I mumbled.

Douglas sat next to me. “Yea. Your head looks like a big tomato.”

“Thanks,” I replied with sarcasm. “I gotta go get some healing potions.”

“It will heal on its own,” Douglas replied. “You leveled up after the fight right?”

  “Yep. Level 7 now.”

“Your health was fully restored then. The pain will gradually fade away too. It just takes a while to show physically. Within a few days, you will look normal again.”

“That's good to know,” I replied while leaning my head against the bars behind me.

My eyes began to close, but jolted open as Douglas had a burst of excitement. “We gotta celebrate. Let's get drunk tomorrow at the Tavern. It will be fun!”

“Hell yea,” I replied. “I am actually meeting my friends there tomorrow. You can join us.”

Douglas rubbed his hands together with excitement. I quickly sent Tommy a message:

“Meet me at the Tavern tomorrow during our free time. Drinks are on me, and we are getting drunk!

  Walker.”

I closed my eyes. All I wanted to do was sleep. The fight had taken every last ounce of energy I had. Without any effort, I drifted off to sleep. I had a dream. A dream of standing in the middle of the coliseum. I was a Grand Champion, and everyone cheered for me. The dream didn't last long though. Before I knew it, the next day had arrived. We ate our meal and waited for the guards to come for us.

I got up and paced back and forth. Douglas did the same. “I'm ready to get drunk,” he said with eager eyes.

“Me too,” I replied. “I just wanna have some good fun.”

“Your face already looks better,” Douglas said while examining me.

  “Really?”

“Yea. You aren't quite as bloody and swollen.”

Just after that, the guards arrived. They grabbed us and we began our walk to FlatFall. As soon as we got there, I noticed something. A few players began to gather around me with curious looks on their faces. A tall skinny elf walked up and pointed at me. “I saw your fight last night. You kicked that dude's ass.”

My face must have turned even more red. “Thank you. Yes, I did kick his ass. It was a lot of fun.”

Some more players gathered around me. “When are you fighting again?” One of them asked.

“I'm not sure. But I'm sure it will be soon enough.”

I put both of my arms into the air. I cherished the moment and spoke with confidence. “My name is Walker. Remember my name.”

  “Right on,” a player yelled.

We walked towards the tavern and a smile came to my face. This was so cool. I couldn't believe players were actually approaching me and asking about my next fight. I must have provided some decent entertainment for them to do so. We walked into the Tavern and looked for Tommy and the others. But, the first thing I saw was the Grand Champion and his girlfriend. He was busy pounding beers down just like the last time I had seen him. I walked towards the bar and positioned myself beside him. “Nice drinking skills,” I said.

The Grand Champion didn't reply. He just popped open another beer and began to drink it. Next to him, his girlfriend giggled. “I saw your fight last night.”

“Really? Did you like it?” I nervously asked.

She giggled some more. “Very impressive.”

The Grand Champion turned towards me. Then, he pulled her closer to him. “It was beginner's luck,” he mumbled.

She wrapped her arms around him and turned away from me. Then, I got the silent treatment. Still, I stood there for a moment. But then, I realized things were getting awkward. I quickly turned around and walked back over to Douglas. After that, I began to search for Tommy through the red hazy air. I squinted my eyes and saw him and the others sitting at a nearby table. “There they are,” I said to Douglas with one finger out.

Douglas began to act a little strange. “I hope they like me,” he said. “I mean. I know they will like me. I just get nervous meeting new people sometimes. That's all.”

“You suffer from social anxiety?” I asked as we walked closer to the table.

“Sometimes. Just when it's large groups. But, it's only for a few minutes. After that, my shyness goes away.”

That was weird. It was hard to imagine Douglas being shy. When we arrived at the table, Tommy and the others looked thrilled to see me. In the middle of the table, there was a big pile of beers. “We saw the fight last night dude,” Tommy said while kicking a nearby chair out from under the table.

I sat down in the chair and Douglas sat down next to me. I put both elbows on the table. “How did I do?”

“You beat the shit out of him,” Todd laughed. “Grab a beer. This is on us.”

“Thanks,” I replied. “I always love free beer.”

I chugged a beer and hoped to catch a buzz. It had been a while since I had drank a lot, but I didn't feel anything. I popped open another beer and chugged it. Tommy leaned closer to me and I realized he was already pretty drunk. “What was that move you did? That uppercut move? That was pretty cool.”

“It was a skill I learned right before the fight. It's called IronPush.”

Tommy looked over at Douglas and a confused look came to his face. “Where did this troll come from? I just realized I don't know him.”

Douglas began to twitch. His fingers went together and began to twirl around. What the hell? Why was Douglas acting so strange. “This is my cellmate,” I replied.

Douglas nodded. “My name is Douglas. Yes, I am a troll. It's true.”

  “He's a very good cellmate,” I replied.

Sonny tilted his head. Then, a worried look came to his face. “How do we know if we can trust him? We can't talk about the plan here now. We just can't.”

Todd slapped Sonny's shoulder. “It's fine. Everything is fine.”

I lowered my eyebrows. “What plan?”

Todd began to talk, but Sonny put his hand over his mouth. “Don't say it. We don't know anything about that troll.”

Tommy looked irritated. “Chill out dude. Just let him talk. The troll seems pretty nice.”

“What the hell are you guys talking about?” I asked.

On the corner of the table, the pet's cage began to rattle. “All I want is one beer. Is that too much to ask?”

“Give your pet some beer,” Tommy yelled. “I feel sorry for that thing.”

Todd popped open a beer and stuck it against the bars that contained the pet. Two tiny hands lunged on the bottle. “Tilt it down. I can't drink it unless you tilt it.”

Todd picked up the cage and tilted it. “What are you doing?” Sonny asked. “You are tampering with private property. Did you know that?”

“Calm down. He just wants one beer. Let him have a little fun for once.”

Sonny looked frustrated, but didn't stop Todd. I took another sip of my beer. “So what's this secret plan?”

Sonny looked at Douglas and then back at me. “Fine. I will just go ahead and say it. We are going to take over FlatFall. Gonna change everything about it.”

I leaned back. “Take it over? What are you talking about?”

“Keep your voice down,” Sonny whispered.

“This place is fucked up,” Todd replied. “We want to change the way it works. Get the Emperor out of leadership.”

“But how? How would we do that?”

Tommy took a sip of his beer before slamming it down on the table. “You just do it!”

What the hell? I had never seen such a determined look on Tommy's face. I twisted my lips. “But, I kinda like fighting in the coliseum.”

“We aren't going to change that,” Todd replied. “That's still gonna be here. We are just going to make this place more user
friendly. We won't lock up the prisoners in cages and force them to fight. Nobody should be forced to fight.”

Douglas raised his hand. “I'm going to be a Grand Champion one day.”

I blinked. That was a random statement. Sonny looked at Douglas and leaned closer to him. “What's that suppose to mean?”

“You can still be a Grand Champion,” Todd replied. “But we will build up this prison and turn it into a kingdom.”

  “A kingdom? Really?” I asked.

“Yes, and we will run it,” Todd replied.

I had to admit, I liked the idea of being a king. But, how was it all going to work? “Who will be the king though?”

“Any one of us,” Todd replied. “We will figure that out later.”

The pet's cage began to rattle. “Open this damn thing up. I'm in a dancing mood,” he screamed before letting out a long laugh.

Sonny's head went from side to side. “You must think I'm a fool. I will never let you out again. Not until you prove your love for me.”

“I don't wanna prove shit to you,” the pet hissed.

I popped open another beer and funneled it down my throat. A warm fuzzy feeling came over me as I began to catch a buzz. “I gotta admit, this sounds like an interesting idea. I'm all up for it, but how are we gonna do it?”

“It won't be easy,” Todd replied. “In fact, it's going to take some teamwork. We must all work together if we want it to happen.”

  “What do you mean?”

“It's kinda like running for president,” Tommy replied. “You gotta get the people on your side.”

“Yea,” Tommy replied. “We must all work our way up in the coliseum. Win the people over, and create an up rise.”

“Yea, we gotta make the people riot and stuff,” Tommy replied with slurred words.

I drink some more beer. Maybe it was because I was getting drunk, but the plan was starting to make sense. “I'm going to become the Grand Champion. I can rally the people up and make this happen.”

“We will all become powerful and influence the people,” Tommy replied.

“I'm usually a man of peace,” Sonny said while sipping his beer. “But, this place treats me poorly. It's just not right.”

I slammed my fist on to the table. “Okay then,” I yelled. “ It is official. We will take over FlatFall!”

Tommy raised his beer into the air. “Shall we drink to it?”

Me, Sonny and Todd raised our beers into the air. But, Douglas looked uneasy. Then, a smile came to his face and he raised his beer. I grinned. “Let's drink to the four new kings!”

“What about me?” the pet asked.

“Your just a pet,” Sonny replied. “Know your role in life.”

“I wasn't a pet until you forced me to be one. Open this cage. I demand you to open this cage now.”

Without asking, Todd opened the cage and the creature jumped out. He fell to his side and tried to dance.

Sonny looked at Todd. “What are you doing? Are you crazy? He'll run away and never come back.”

Todd rolled his eyes. “Relax. He just wants to dance.”

The pet climbed to his feet and clapped his hands. He walked over to an empty beer can. “Fuck this can,” he yelled while kicking it off the table. Both of his arms went into the air as he twirled around in circles. Everyone laughed and continued to drink more and more beer.

“You're a pretty cool pet,” Tommy yelled with a slap to the table.

The creature continued to dance as Sonny watched him like a hawk. I looked around at everyone in the Tavern and smiled. One day, I would own this place. I had to admit, it was a powerful feeling. Not only would I become Grand Champion, I would also become king. It was official, I loved my new life. The future was bright, and I couldn't wait for it to arrive. But for now, I would just enjoy my beer.
