“Let me text this nigga real quick,” Nikki said to herself, smiling. She reached around the bed sheets for her phone. Once she found it, she opened the text message conversation she’d been having with Breon and just said how much she liked that he’d come over to chill. Once she finished with the message, she tossed her phone to the side. She was confident that she’d texted something that wasn’t too revealing. The last thing she wanted right now was for Breon’s chick to find out and there be some sort of drama popping off. Nikki shook her head at just the thought of a woman getting mad at her over some man or worse, coming to her door and trying to start something. She felt so sorry for how some women could be so desperate to keep a man that obviously doesn’t want them. This was very clear when it came to Breon. Nikki could tell just by the way he was reacting to her body that he was finally getting just what he needed, and he was getting it from someone other than his chick.

A thumping noise came from the bathroom. It was followed by the sound of the toilet lid closing then the toilet flushing.

“Gracelyn?” Nikki yelled. “Is that you?”

“Girl, what?” Gracelyn responded, her voice muffled by the walls. “Who the fuck else do you think it would be?”

“Girl, you ain’t have to get smart,” Nikki said, shaking her head and rolling her eyes. “You know robbers and killers and rapists gotta use the bathroom too sometimes. Shit, a bitch can’t be too sure nowadays. You know these niggas will run up in your shit when you at home and look you dead in the eye.”

“Girl, wait a minute!” Gracelyn yelled. “I can’t hear what you sayin’.”

Gracelyn finished washing her hands. She then walked around to Nikki’s bedroom door and stepped inside. “Girl, what in the fuck was you talkin’ about?” she asked.

Nikki shook her head. “Nothin’,” she responded. “When you get here?”

“Girl, I got here like a hour ago,” Gracelyn answered. “Try’na think about what I’mma eat, but I still don’t know yet. Part of me just wanna go and get some Chinese food or something.”

Nikki pressed her lips together to keep from saying, “I figured.”

Gracelyn put a smile on her face and walked into the room. She sat down on the edge of the bed, noticing that Nikki was naked under the sheets. Last night, when she was done at Ray’s place, she went and chilled at her sister’s house on the West side. She wound up spending so much time there that by the time she got home, she was so tired that she just went right to sleep, without even talking to Nikki like she normally would. She had to turn around and get right back up in the morning to go to work for a long shift, from which she was just now getting home.

“Girl, what you been up to today?” Gracelyn asked. “You look like you been in here fuckin’ or something.”

Nikki looked away, realizing that her roommate knew her too well if she was able to guess the exact thing that she’d been doing. Gracelyn noticed the way she was blushing. She reached up and slapped her shoulder.

“Spill!” Gracelyn commanded. “Girl, I can look at you and tell that you done did something. Girl, you better spill and I’ll tell you mine too.”

“You’ll tell me yours?” Nikki asked. “Girl, you stay fuckin’, don’t you? And ain’t nothin’ that was no real big deal happen. I may have had somebody over here.”

“Awe shit,” Gracelyn said. “Who is the nigga and where did you find him? You always havin’ these niggas in and out of her when I’m not around.” She squinted. “But, okay. I see how you gon’ be. Anyway, tell me about the nigga.”

“I already did,” Nikki said, smiling. “It was Breon.”

Gracelyn jumped out of the bed and put her hands on her hips. “What?” she asked. “Girl, no. You not serious, are you? When did you have that nigga over here and shit?”

“Just a few hours ago,” Nikki said. “Well, he left just a few hours ago. He was probably here for an hour.”

“Awww, girl,” Gracelyn said, shaking her head. “First, you suck the nigga’s dick in his SUV, in the middle of the night on a street after a party and shit. Then you have him over here. What did y’all do?”

Nikki looked away again, this time rolling her eyes and obviously avoiding eye contact with Gracelyn. “Girl, we ain’t do that much,” she said, in a sarcastic way. “He just stopped by to say wassup and we smoked a blunt together.”

“Stopped by to say wassup?” Gracelyn asked. “Girl, I guess you think I’m stupid or was born yesterday. What kind of nigga is just gon’ stop by to have a chit chat and chill and smoke with you after you sucked his dick in his SUV?”

“Girl, you don’t know that anything happened,” Nikki said, sliding out of bed with the sheet wrapped around her body. “Step out in the hallway real quick while I get my clothes on and shit, then I’ll tell you the rest.”

Gracelyn turned around and sashayed right on out into the living room. “Hmm, hmm,” she said. “You betta come out here and tell me the whole story. Don’t think I’mma let you go to sleep tonight without tellin’ me. Then I gotta tell you about yesterday. You not the only one who done went off and had you a little bit of fun.”

Gracelyn pulled Nikki’s bedroom door shut, allowing Nikki to slide into some faded blue jeans and an Ohio Buckeyes t-shirt. She quickly rushed out into the living room and made herself comfortable on the couch, next to Gracelyn. “Okay, okay,” she said. “You know we did more than just chill.”

“You ain’t gotta tell me that part,” Gracelyn said. “I know you, so I know you did more than just that. That’s like telling me that big body of water over there is Lake Michigan. That goes without saying.”

“Girl, calm down,” Nikki said. “Anyway, girl that dick feel so good, that shit had me gone.”

“Awwww,” Gracelyn said, clearly excited. “Was it really that big?”

“Girl, I swear,” Nikki said. “It seem like it was even bigger than I remembered from Friday night. Once he got nice and rock hard and pushed that thing into me, I could feel it reaching into my stomach and stuff and I came so hard that I was shakin’. And he knew how to use it so good.”

“You hoe!” Gracelyn said, laughing and playfully tapping Gracelyn’s shoulder. “Girl, you are such a hoe!”

“Don’t call me no hoe!” Nikki said. “Anyway, he is the one who hit me up.” Nikki was purposely leaving out the fact that she’d sent an enticing picture of herself to Breon yesterday afternoon. “Yeah, exactly. He the one who hit me up, asking when he could come over and chill. Shit, I ain’t do nothin’ wrong. I ain’t the one who’s in no relationship. He is. I’m single and I was here alone and shit, so I told him that he could come over if he wanted to. So, he did.”

“And I already know exactly what you did,” Gracelyn said, shaking her head. “Hmm, hmm.”

“What?” Nikki said, backing away. “What you know exactly that I did?”

“The same thing you did on Friday night,” Gracelyn responded. “Just so you could suck him in, no pun intended, and get him to give you some of the dick.”

Instantly, Nikki’s face lit up with a big smile. She laughed as she pushed Gracelyn, telling her to shut up. “You ain’t gotta say it like that,” she said. “Damn.”

Gracelyn regained her composure and looked at her friend, shaking her head. “Hmm, hmm,” she said. “I knew you was gon’ do some shit like that. Even after I told you that he had a chick you gon’ still have him over and take some of that good, big dick.”

“What was I supposed to do?” Nikki asked. “Have all that man over here and say no. Plus, it ain’t even like that. We talked and stuff.”

“Oh lord,” Gracelyn said, putting one hand over her face. “Now she over there sayin’ that she done had a talk with him. What he say? That he love his girl and stuff and that he ain’t really lookin’ for nothin’ serious. I know that song, girl. Won’t you tell me somethin’ else, damn.”

“Girl, you just mad,” Nikki said, wiggling her butt and holding her head up as if she were pretending to
be of a higher class. “You just mad you wasn’t gettin’ none of that good dick I was gettin’. You shoulda seen that nigga’s face when I took my clothes off. He looked like a kid on Christmas coming downstairs and finding the base of the tree covered in presents.”

“Yeah, don’t they all,” Gracelyn said. “And how you know I wasn’t gettin’ some of my own, why you talkin’? Girl, one day I swear you gon’ finally listen to me when I tell you these niggas be likin’ them a BBW. All that talkin’ we was doin’ got me goin’ and I had to see how Ray was doing.”

Nikki squinted at Gracelyn, starting to really question what her intentions were if she was contacting Breon’s best friend. “Oh, yeah?” she asked, her tone now flat. “And what did you hit him up for?”

“Girl, you know,” Gracelyn said, lightly tapping Nikki’s leg. “I wanted some of that fat ass dick that he got. I hit him up when I was at work, on break, and girl, he jumped right on it. He even took me to get something to eat when I got off work and then we went back to his apartment. We smoked and stuff, then next thing I know, the nigga had his hands all over me.”

“I can’t believe you, Gracelyn,” Nikki said. She could tell that Gracelyn now saw she was a little mad. “So, after we talk about it and stuff, you went over there? Girl, I hope you ain’t do nothin’ stupid like go over there and run your mouth, telling that nigga stuff about how I sucked his boy’s dick and stuff out in the car.”

“Girl, hell naw,” Gracelyn said. “You know me better than that, Nikki. Come on and get real. I wasn’t goin’ over there to see if Breon was there or nothin’ like that. Girl, you know I would never try to jump on whatever you got goin’ and shit. I just ain’t that kinda chick. I had been thinkin’ about Ray for a minute, and since we got to talkin’ and I remembered how much he liked a big girl and how good he could handle me, I decided to hit him up and see what he was doin’. Girl, I ain’t tell him nothin’. I ain’t even bring you up, so don’t be trippin’.”

“Okay,” Nikki said, realizing that she needed to calm down and not over exaggerate. “My bad, girl. You know how I get sometimes.”

“But, yeah, girl,” Gracelyn said, eager to continue. “He more than made up for that egg roll dick nigga I had the other night. And I mean seriously made up for it. I felt so damn good that I ain’t want him to come or nothin’. I just wanted him to keep fuckin’ me. He bent me over and pinned my back down into the couch and went hard. I might have to hit him up again when I feel like it and ain’t gotta work all these stupid hours at that Kroger.”

“I see,” Nikki said. “I see.”

“But girl, that ain’t all,” Gracelyn said. “Like you, me and the nigga talked for a minute too. And girl, you won’t believe what he told me.”

“What?” Nikki asked. “What he tell you that would have to do with me?”

“Well, after we got done fuckin’,” Gracelyn explained, “we was over there chillin’ and whatnot and we got to talkin’ like I said. Long story short, girl, when we was talkin’ about relationships and stuff, he got to talkin’ about how he got a buddy that is thinking about proposing to his girlfriend.”

“What?” Nikki asked, surprised but not wanting to say why. “He said that Breon was gon’ be proposin’ to that chick Trina or whatever you said her name was?”

“Naw, he ain’t say his buddy’s name,” Gracelyn responded. “But somethin’ was tellin’ me that he was talkin’ bout that nigga Breon. Now you know I don’t know Ray all that well and stuff, but the only buddy of his I ever met was Breon, so it could be him. Then again, I really don’t know, though. Did he mention anything like that to you?”

“Naw,” Nikki said, looking away. “He ain’t mention no stuff like that to me.” She shrugged her shoulders and got up to get herself something to drink. From the kitchen, she said, “Plus, it ain’t like I would really care about nothin’ like that anyway. It ain’t like we together or nothin’ like that.”

Those very words made her think twice. Breon could have very well been the best looking and best endowed guy that she’d messed with in a while. On top of that, he had swag and knew how to dress. Not to mention, he obviously had money—the kind of money that would be perfect to go shopping with or out to dinner at nice restaurants or on road trips. She sipped her tea as she walked back out into the dining room and looked at Gracelyn, who was still talking.

Hearing that Breon may be getting married had suddenly changed everything. Nikki was well aware of the power she had over men and the fact that her body was the kind of body that any woman would pay to have and that grabbed any man’s attention when she walked by. However, her luck in terms of relationships had been rather lackluster. The last man who had done her extremely dirty was Josh. The two had been together for a couple of years and he had even proposed to her. However, once he’d found some other chick to grab his attention – one that would take care of him better financially, Nikki assumed – the idea of them getting married suddenly didn’t look so appealing to him. This infuriated Nikki, so much so that she threatened to tell everyone about his big health secret if he didn’t make her life a little more comfortable after such a hard breakup. Doing whatever it took, which was crime, to come up with the money, Joshua gave Nikki ten stacks in exchange for breaking her heart. However, the scorn and the scars of having your hope built up for so long were still there in Nikki’s heart. If there was one thing she hated more than anything in the entire world it was when a man treated her like she was nothing – like she was just something to do. And she wanted to believe so desperately that Breon would never do something like that.

Nikki sat back down on the couch with her tea and listened to Gracelyn talk. All the while, she remembered how caring and attentive Breon had proven himself to be already, between the party and the way they made love. Something was telling her that Breon really wanted to be with her but was maybe being pressured into marriage. Or maybe he was just talking to save face. Whatever the reason, however, Nikki was now determined to find out why Breon couldn’t just come out and say that he was going to marry the chick. Why had he made it sound as if things simply weren’t getting serious between the two of them?

  CHAPTER 1

When Trina woke up on Monday morning, she couldn’t help but to turn and look at Breon right away. It truly did amaze her that he’d gone to bed yesterday, Sunday, afternoon to take what had supposed to have been a nap. However, with only getting up and staying up for about an hour and a half last night, Breon had gone back to sleep and slept the rest of the night. Trina’s eyes looked into his clueless face, as she still wondered why someone like Aunt Silvia would be texting him: Hope you come back through and chill.

Trina didn’t consider herself to be the jealous type. In fact, if a man didn’t want her, she was more than confident she could go out as get somebody just as decent, if not better. However, she’d invest time into Breon and she really wanted to believe that he would never mess around on her. Believing such had become just that much harder by watching what her older sister Tamar had gone through. Tamar was still furious from walking in on her man when he’d just gotten done getting a blowjob. Trina was really starting to reevaluate whether or not such a thing could happen to her.

After lying in bed for some time, nothing but the comforter covering her body as she gaze out at the snowy early morning, Trina eventually forced herself to move. She told herself that she wasn’t going to dwell on her thoughts. She was still content on finding out, because yesterday was simply strange. What would make Breon so tired to where he could sleep so long? He didn’t even seem all the engaged last night when she’d gotten home and they’d had a little dinner.

Knowing that she couldn’t carry all of this to work with her downtown, Trina took a deep breath. She meditated for just a second before dragged her legs and sliding out of the bed. Walking casually against the beige carpet of their master bedroom, Trina grabbed he
r towel and headed into the bathroom. The shower felt good on her skin, as it relieved some of her tension. However, she still couldn’t push the thoughts out of her mind. She’d gotten to the point where she wanted to know so badly that she was feeling guilty for even having the desire. For some reason, she felt as if she were wrong for going through his phone. When she’d think about bringing it up, she’d only think of how stupid she might look if there were to be a perfectly plausible explanation.

“I’m not gon’ say nothing,” Trina said to herself, shaking her head. “I’m not gon’ say nothing.”

Trina turned the water off, checking to make sure that her shower cap was still on tight. She then stepped out of the bathtub, grabbing her towel. Within seconds, the bathroom door swung up. There stood Breon, naked, peaking his head into the bathroom. He smiled. “Good morning,” he said.

“Morning,” Trina said, not really making any effort to make eye contact.

Breon asked. “What was you sayin’ when you was sayin’ that you wasn’t gon’ say nothin’?” He stepped into the bathroom and over to the toilet. After lifting the seat and the lid, he aimed and looked at Trina. “Huh?”

“Nothin’, Breon,” Trina said, drying herself off. “Nothing. I was just thinking about something that one of my sisters said is all. Nothing serious. I was actually thinking about Tamar,” Trina felt she could say this because it was at least partially true, “and you know how she is.”

“Yeah,” Breon said, looking away and snickering. “I do.”

Trina finished drying off as Breon finished pissing. After flushing, with his face scrunched up, he softly leaned in and kissed Trina before heading back out and to the bed. Trina watched him walk out of the bathroom, feeling more and more like she should say something.
